Sub based games started in the late 90s and they figured out that with the amount of players they where able to get along with how much it costs to run it they would need $15 a person to turn a profit.
Since then minimum wage has gone up 50%, the cost of living has gone up about 75%, cost of making a game has gone up about 150% yet the sub price has gone up 0%. So no the price will not drop.
Also still waiting on my Paul Sage pet.
@ZOS_JessicaFolsom you know you want to help me make this happen.

I'm talking after a LONG LONG time though, as extra encouragement to keep playing, or at least keep their subscription up, earning ZOS more money?
But they do leave. People leave and come back all the time. This might get then to stay, at least for a bit longer between leavings.ers101284b14_ESO wrote: »DragonWitch wrote: »ers101284b14_ESO wrote: »Not gonna happen. $15 is the standard and actually kind of cheap if you think about it. Won't earn more money. If you have to be subbed for say 5 years to get a discount then lowering your price won't make more because obviously they already have your business and your not going anywhere anyway.
Lowering the initial investment would bring in more new players and would potentially make more money. That's why free trials are good. Everyone who was gonna buy the game for $60 probably already has. So do a free trial and go straight to the sub. Cut out that initial $60 and get them paying the sub and staying around. Aside from a cash shop subs make the money. Lowering a sub for people who where not planning on leaving makes less money.
Reducing the sub fee is a cool idea, but I don't think they'll ever go in that direction with the loyalty rewards. If the sub fee is to ever change (let's hope it does not), it'll likely be for other reasons.
Other things that could be future loyalty rewards:
- More pets
- Costumes
- Bank space
- Inventory space
- Unique dyes
- Unique crafting styles
- Mounts and mount perks
- Misc trophies
- Character appearance changes

it will encourage people to keep their subscription going full time instead of getting a sub, leaving for a while, then coming back for a little bit and leaving again, making their income steadier. (Right?)

Opinions, GO!
Seriously? It's $15. That's not even a single trip to a fast food place. If $15 is going to make or break you, then it's time to put the games away and get to work.

Just because I came up with the idea doesn't mean I can't pay the subscription price. It just means I have a functioning brain and can daydream about different scenarios.
