I do wonder why people seem to like the current system. It just seems really weird to me to have a 4 hour day and a 2 hour night. I wish ZoS would tell us why they made that particular decision in the first place.

Perhaps they prefer to see where they are clearly, just suggesting. After all in the day part you can see details clearer, and mobs before you stumble across them.

Real time, night is when night is and day when day is. Its horrible to log on at the morning and its night or at the evening and its day.

Why wouldn't days be longer than nights? Our day/night cycle is roughly 16/8 (summer, Europe, the game world is also locked in summer I think)

If the game is locked in 'summer', it must be British summer the amount it rains!! :p

Considering how the world is around the entire globe , either they will make this instance to each region so that each player get this or it would not make any sense at all for tons of players.

The only time I've ever thought about the system was to notice that it felt just about right.

In particular, as evening approaches I kinda relish the coming of night, and sometimes switch to mat harvesting at night because I have those passives for seeing mats at 20-30 meters, so mats really stand out at night. When I do that it's like this quiet time of picking mats under the night sky.

And night lasts just about the right time, to me. I'm not sure why, but maybe I think of the sleep cycle, unconsciously, and how that's 'supposed' to be roughly 16 hours awake and 8 hours asleep. I don't know, though, but the proportion of night to day seems fine to me.

Also, I love the sunrise and morning, and the world's colors gradually becoming richer and brighter.

So, I can't believe you really have don't sweetrolls here. Private poll, no sweetrolls. I'm outta here.

I wish it was darker at night, in the game to me it seems to light outside and its not my brightness settings the moon's needs to become a new moon's once and while and make the map very dark....

If there is going to be a day/night cycle there shouldn't be shorter nights than days. Make it equal. I'd prefer an 8 to 12 hour full cycle with 4 to 6 hour days and nights. Also would like to see moon cycles that effect werewolves with the darkest nights from lack of moonlight needing torches etc.

Ideally, it would be night, and rainy, and stormy, all the time. But in the spirit of compromise, I guess equally long days and nights would be fair enough.

I suppose that COULD be an explanation...eternal summer. I live in Florida and let me tell ya, eternal summer SUCKS. I wonder if ZoS has any plans to eventually implement seasons as well. Because THAT would be awesome!

Why shouldn't days be longer than nights? In midsummer here the days are really long, and the nights are short. It's clearly summertime in the game because the leaves are on the trees.

I would prefer having some method in game of checking on the status of the cycle, to know when it will change. I would also like weather to be consistent between players, as in server-side, but that's another issue entirely.

I lived in three different areas of the world latitudinally, and I much prefer the tropical same all year round to the North European crap it's cold and dark another alcoholic drink plz, omg it's sooo warm in summer another drink plz, kind of depression. But these are deities whizzing around a circular dome shouting wheeeeeee for eternity rather than Newtonian gravitic bodies, so I had better drink.

Being that the Tamriel Calendar is pretty much identical to the Gregorian Calendar I would MOST like it to be a one to one ratio with our days and nights but being that this is a game I understand the need for truncating the day/night cycle.

I think the 6 hour day is a too short. I think we should extend it to a 9 hour day (4.5 hour day/night). This could make it so those of us that play at the same time every day won't always see the same time of day. I feel like its ALWAYS day when I'm on... but that might just be the short nights. An in-game craftable Dwemer clock would kick considerable ass.

I DO think the Tamriel Calendar needs to be a prominent part of the world... but I don't think it needs to be tied to the day night cycle... have the Tamriel day=our actual day (Mundas, Frostfall 6th = Monday, October 6th)

Yesterday was Dirij Tereur. I hope my Redguard brethren read from Hunding's Book of Circles, as is the tradition! ;)

    1. I have no problem with days being significantly longer than nights. Reality isn't 12/12.
    2. I don't particularly think games require a day/night cycle, but if an online game has one, the length of it's cycle should never EVER be a divisor of 24, unless it's under 2 hours or so. So 3, 4, 6, 8, 12. No. Just don't do it. People tend to play at the same time every day. If your cycle evenly divides 24, then you're effectively making a person always play at the same time of day (more or less) which defeats the whole point of actually having a cycle in the first place.

I'm probably one of the few who'd prefer an even shorter night even if it doesn't make sense. I just don't like questing in the dark and am always running into rocks or fallen tree logs. I do love the dawns and sunsets! But yeah, am always a bit disappointed if I log on to the middle of the Tamriel night. I try to have a few public dungeons lined up to do during night time or I go resource hunting.

I don't know if Tamriel HAS seasons... I've always felt the lands of Nirn were locked in their respective habitats. If there are seasons, they're likely slight changes in their climates. Like Skyrim is perpetual winter... but sometimes it might not be SO wintery.

Tamriel has seasons, they are referrenced in the books,
and in one faction there are places where a city used to stay for each season.
