I hope it dosn't go F2P ever, it'll be SWTOR all over again.
It will revive a dying game, bringing in more players and money than it had under the subscription model?

    Sounds terrible.

SWtor wasn't dying, it was holding a steady subscription base, it's just they decided a freemium model would bring in more players.

Which it did, but it wrecked crafting in the process and drove away nearly as many players as it attracted.
    EA reports disagree with you.

The game is not dying. The comment you made I can not agree with, consciously or unconsciously. ESO has issues, but all of which can be dealt with in the fullness of time. As for the question on subscribers, most MMOs tend to reveal subscription numbers [those who do some form of subscription model] every 6 to 12 months. That means it could be tomorrow, or not until April 4th 2015.

Most MMOs are not owned by a private company and only reveal those numbers for the benefit of investors. This company is totally privately owned so they will probably never reveal those numbers at any point.

None of us no for sure about sub numbers all we can do is use the anecdotal evidence we have seen. What I have seen is every single guild I have been in, all that were active have almost no one in them anymore. The couple trading guilds i'm in, one stays active because they are constantly removing inactive people the other has lost 100 people and had over 150 people that had not logged in, in over a month. I have been in 8 active guilds now that all of them disappeared. I am even a member of a gaming community that has 2000+ active members over different games and ESO is not even a supported game for them anymore because of the drastic drop off. PvP is down to a fraction of what it once was and most campaigns are now eliminated or empty.

How does any of that lead to the game growing or doing well?

If those new players are gold farmers and cheapskate 14-year-old griefers, no thanks. The kind of new players that F2P brings in are usually not the kind you want.

Most of EA's earning reports are based on a huge number of games. Here is what they reported about SWTOR after the f2p model was put in. It is not typical for them to show reports on specific games.

    - "Solid performance" by SWTOR was a major contributing factor in their F2P generation - Game is "performing well"

    - 45% increase in F2P revenue generation, SWTOR F2P and Subscriber numbers are steadily growing and strong.

    Here was their last report

Our non-GAAP digital net revenue for the quarter increased by 28% year-over-year to $482 million and accounted for more than 60% of this quarter’s revenue. The trailing twelve-month digital net revenue was up 10% to a record $1.9 billion. Breaking down our digital revenue into its key components highlights the performances of each of these businesses:

Extra content and free-to-play contributed $211 million, up 19% over the prior year, led by sustained momentum and approaching 90% growth in our Ultimate Team business. We saw NHL Ultimate Team grow 50%, FIFA Ultimate Team grow nearly 80% and Madden Ultimate Team grow over 350% year-over-year. Star Wars: The Old Republic and FIFA Online 3 also continue to be significant contributors. As a reminder, this revenue relates to
businesses on PC or consoles, where consumers can enhance or extend their gaming experience by buying additional digital content
