Cadwells Gold Reward

fatemaker80b16_ESO
This was the worst quest reward i could have ever expected to get after completing each zones quest just to get a blue neck piece that has stats on it that i dont ues, you would think after 100+ hours of playing thru just the quests that you would get some sort of epic reward for completing it, what a waste of time

Meh all I got for killing Molag Bal and saving the world, was a crapy blue 2h sword (I use bow/DW) any other reward for a quest I now expect to be just as useless. only good quest reward I ever got was the fighters guild prismatic weapon.

Yeah, I just finished gold, I already knew what the reward was but I was still pretty disappointed with Cadwells lame 'congratulations' and poxy necklace.

I almost NEVER use looted equipment. It's pretty much useless for anything other than deconstruction for mats.

To be fair... It's not exactly hard or challenging to complete all the zones. It's more of a " hey good job! Wasn't that fun?" Type thing.

What about the achievement points, skill points, items, drops, mats, gold, experience, fun, friends did you make while completing all the zones...? Instead of basing your end reward off of a single item, take a look at the bigger picture. :)

Until they implement some kind of "epic" gear/weapon quests, don't expect great rewards from quests that can be blown through willy nilly.

Did you at least line up your action bar with skills you wanted to level? Both of Cadwell's quest turn ins gave me a big boost to skills giving multiple levels to each of them.

Oh, I agree... Cadwell's trinket was sold to the nearest passing merchant for a skin of mead... Nothing worse than getting useless gear for quests...

I don't know why they don't go down the LoTRO reward route where you obtain 'coins' for completing quests in an area and you can use them to buy gear from a vendor. It meant you could get something useful with the stats you wanted and you could either save all your coins for a really good bit of gear or buy several bits of ok gear.

i didnt make any friends along the way actually, i soloed the whole way, and to be given that as a reward is more of a slapin the face than a reward, im a magicka user and to be given a stam necklace is just ***, i hate to say it but they need to incorporate WoW's quest reward system where you can choose out of a few items what you recieve instead of "Here's your piece of trash loot, good job"
  • fatemaker80b16_ESO
as well as the game never informs you to take the neck piece to someone in order to get another reward, just poor judgement by ZOS to keep this reward as part of the game, time to actually give something worthwhile ZOS

I've said it before and I'll say it again...why can't we just choose from a selection of quest rewards?? Instead we get something that we can't use or we have already obtained something better. I had started a thread about this and all the responses I got were "well it would break immersion" and "it would not work for roleplayers" I disagree of course but what do you all think?

dont even get me started here:

This was the WORST finish in everything I have ever played.

Turn in quest, Cadwells says one line, get a neckless and then bye......

Where was the big talk from cadwell, where was the epic final of some sort of cut, I just saved 3 factions and then nothing.....

I was like wtf and left the harborage speechless and disappointed, and to the fact I probably have no need and wish to actually do cadwells gold again, since nothing great happens when done.

I know that this thread is not brandnew anymore, but yesterday I finally finished Cadwell's Gold for the first time and was disappointed, too, so I was searching for that topic. And hello, apparently I'm not the only one..

@Nikkae A selection would be awesome! I know this from another game that you can pick 1 out of 5 after solving the whole main questline. Then, at least, we would have a chance to get something which is actually useful.

@Artemiisia Same for me, it was the worst finish ever. And it's very unlikely that I'll play it through again in the near future. Maybe when the end has changed, I might consider it.

Non endgame PvE is more for getting gold/skills/learning the game and experiencing content. Maybe they should have given you a cool trinket at the end, or maybe give you another skill point or 4, but as far as items are concerned its pointless and should be since the max reward you would be able to get is v10 gear which is utterly useless since crag grind groups can get you better loot than that. This quest is primarily for those trying to complete their achievements and get all of the skills in the game, which in my opinion is a huge reward for the time invested.

Give me a costume that replaces my helm with Cadwell's Iron pot-hat ...

Or a toy that summons up the ol' chap to say a few comedic lines ...

Or the ability to teleport anywhere in Coldharbour for free, simply by right-clicking on the Coldharbour map ...

Or Cadwell's Sword (50% chance to say "Ha HA!" in Cadwell's voice as you instantly banish a Daedra with a single hit) ...

Anything that would be fun and *cool* ... not some crappy vendor necklace.

As other have noted, it may be disappointing but it's not a singular accomplishment. It's a scripted accomplishment.

The most troubling part of this game is the whole thing of you being the mighty hero, like thousands and thousand of other people who have played this game.

This is where the game most betrays its ignorance of its medium. Online gaming is at its best when it uses the imaginative power of digital technology to enable people to explore genuine dimensions of themselves they otherwise could not. It has no business mimicking its more escapist cousins in the stand-alone realm. As such it doesn't matter how large the reward is. It would still fail to satisfy.

@Raygee Thanks for the shout out!

I just finished Cadwell's gold last night and was also extremely disappointed. Having read this thread before I finished all three alliances, I did not anticipate the reward to be all that exceptional. However that is all you get.... A blue item (which I will never use) and a couple of lines from Cad. No achievement, no skill points, no nothing! In fact now that I think about it, I don't think I have used a single quest reward the entire time I played which is kinda sad. Those who say "well the reward is the quest itself" is idiotic because while I do enjoy the story lines of each and every quest, the point of a reward given at the end of every quest is just that, a reward and should be worthy of use.

I was more annoyed by the fact that there were zone quests that rewarded more VP than completing Cadwell's gold. I never expected any decent loot from a quest, but I expected more than 15k VP (only 3,035,026 to go...(to VR11)) for finishing a trek across 12 zones for two different alliances.

In Age of Conan, the end boss the grim grey god, thats was what they needed to do with Cad Gold like, some serious epic cut scene, where Cad takes us somewhere, and we some how see some dark anchor epic scene thingy.

and a skill point should really had been an reward for completing the whole thing.

its the last quest so it should really reward you with your first legendary weapon imho

Or unlocking a new Daedric (or Aedric!!) skill line that includes transformations as the combat skill animations ...
Or unlocking the ability to create a new character as an Aedra or Daedra ...

The list of possibilities goes on and on ...

It's a lot of time invested and frankly it's very anticlimactic. No, the reward should not be the sole reason for doing it, but it really should be something that is appropriate for the amount of time you spend doing it.

Maybe at one time I would have disagreed but now I'm starting to reconsider. The question still remains, would it even matter? I mean none of the stuff we are given is even worth a damn. As someone else said the prismatic weapon is about the best reward we have ever gotten from a quest and that was pretty meh.

The quest lines would have been alright in a single player game. Not a single player TES game mind you, but a different franchise sure.

I feel like they went halfway and then got scared. They wanted to give us choices but they didn't have the courage to follow through with actually making those choices matter. The quests are far too linear and offer very little in the way of diversity. I would have loved if my choices actually made a difference. Some of the red text options made me really think, what would my character do? Some actually caused a debate with my partner. Sadly even though we chose different responses we had the exact same outcome. They ultimately made no difference whatsoever. That was really disappointing. It's equitable to siding with Stormcloaks in Skyrim but having the Imperials win anyway every time. I honestly think they should have been more bold with this game and really tried to do something different. Instead they took the lazy safe approach and made a themepark. :'(

There are technicallytwo quests where you choose your reward, just for the sake of argument. I would like more like these, where your decision dictates your reward.

The two I am referring to are the final Mages Guild and the final Main Quest where
    you decide who to sacrifice
. Admittedly these rewards aren't explained until you make a choice but I kind of like that from a story perspective.

For more mundane quests, like upcoming dailies, an explicit reward selection would be nice.
If she doesn't know the pain of cliffracers, she's too young for you.

A few days ago I finished Cadwell's Gold, after trudging through all three alliances- two making me feel like a traitor- and for what?! I feel as let down by this "reward" as I did by the season finale of Dexter. No achievement, no title, nothing except a v10 piece of jewelry that is no better than the v7 one I've been wearing forever. I really hope this gets addressed at the Guild Summit. There is absolutely no incentive to ever do this again. I hated betraying my chosen alliance, but I thought perhaps the end would justify the means, yeah umm nope. So incredibly disappointed :(

Daenerys its one of the biggest main reasons, I have left the game for now, the incentive to do it again, just aint worth the hassle, in other mmos I have done the whole thing 12 times, just because of the endning, with fight/scene/reward and then end game content thats actually worth something

"Cadwell's Gold" would be better named as "Cadwell's Brass". The whole ESO reward system is out of sync imo. Nowhere in the game did I feel that the reward was something to "work" for, except for the skill points that are always welcome. I cannot remember using any of the quest rewards and thinking, "wow" glad I got that!
The end was so lame that it seemed a total after-thought; a device to keep people in the game but with no real development in it. I too cannot fathom running another character through that gauntlet only to get a carrot at the end of it. Too sad.
