Guild Summit?

We know ZOS is holding a guild summit of sorts next week, flying people out etc.. My question is what is the purpose of such a meeting? What do you expect to gain from that meeting that you could not accomplish with forums/reddit, bug reports, meetings via ts/skype that you have ALREADY had. Is this meeting going to be hush hush and only the invitees will be privy to the information or will you share talking points, goals etc. with the rest of us commoners? Just curious.

It would be nice if they were a bit more forthcoming with information. With so many issues many players have, a few details about what is being addressed being made public to we the playing/paying community would be much appreciated.

Not to mention the recently unsubbed who would love to be provided with a reason to return

    I didn't get invited :)

Ok my guild only has 15 of us, but hey, we care too.

Seriously, I hope they remember that there are many more players than those in large established guilds & that their concerns and wants may not be the same.

Awesome, big guild summit of leets...guess after this their conclusion will be to add another 10 group only zones because clearly everyone only plays in groups, level cap raised to VR45, and 20 more hardcore dungeons.

What is the selection process of the 'guild summit' I wonder. Is it people who pander to one another's egos, or people who actually want to see improvement?

You guys are unbelievable. Do you realize how awesome it is for a company to fly out players from around the world on the company's dime to meet face to face? And all you can do is find something to *** about. They've said the meeting doesn't have any form of NDA and that all participants are free to share any and all information. And you wonder why they sometimes drop info on reddit and not here.

Actually, I think they have a valid point. Well, aside from the really snarky ones! XD

Personally, I would much rather them spend that money on hiring some more people to fix the horrific state of PVP along with the other issues they already know about.

That is kinda the point. We KNOW there are issues. So what would be the point of spending money that could go into fixing them to fly a bunch of guild "elites" out to talk about it?

"Yep, we got problems boys. But wait, let me just reiterate the proposed solutions I already spend four days compiling into a detailed post on the forums and Reddit, and in private emails to your staff, because you know some people 'learn by doing' and maybe it didn't make sense in written form!"

I can see the point of ingratiating themselves with the leaders of large guilds, as their legions of minions (er, guild mates) are then likely to inherit that sense of loyalty by osmosis, or something.

Still, I don't think a PR campaign is really what the game needs at this point. This is still too early for that, and ESCON can come later down the road when more of the problems are ironed out.

The biggest thing ZOS could do to help themselves at this point is fix the problems in PVP, and mostly, that involves buying enough server hardware to account for the load (and also more coding changes to streamline said load), which again, they are already well aware of.

It is the age-old axiom: "If you build it, they will come."

Concentrate on getting a solid foundation secured for the key elements of the game you have already established. The rest will come in time.

But if the issues in PVP aren't resolved, specifically server crashes, lag, mechanics encouraging zerg balling (no diminishing returns on AOE damage), troll camps, hacks/exploits, etc., then no amount of chum-chumming will keep the bulk of people around.

They have an outstanding product, I think they just need to patch the leaks to see it sail to that horizon they are aiming for.

mo, they drop info on reddit because the mods they have there lean on the banhammer for just about everything.

They would have serious problems if they did that here, hence, they go somewhere were they don't have to worry about dissent.

You see when a comment gets deleted in the ESO subreddit, and very very rarely see a comment that says "Deleted". Don't guess you have any source about lots of people getting banned do you?

I just hope their choice of guild reps is balanced among the different sorts of players that play this game. That they pay as much attention to RP and PvE players as they do to the PvP community (who perhaps are more vocal about getting their wishes across sometimes). That's the bind they are in. This game really needs to be at least two or three different games to keep everyone happy.

My guess is they mean guilds that have been around a while, maybe 'known' ones that are not just ones created in ESO.

And listening to them is good.

But those guys will have one set of priorities that is not going to map exactly to those of smaller guilds, newer guilds or the players of offline TES games who may be new to this stuff.

They simply need to be aware that sample errors and confirmation bias could be an issue if they only talk to one type of easily identifiable customer.

Actually, several people that regularly post on reddit, some that have gotten banned, have posted about it here.

They simply ban for just about everything. By now they've banned anyone who would dissent, and it's all fanboys.

Do you really think reddit is actually more civil than these forums by design? Nothing is different there other than a suppression of unhappiness.

Of course, this forum would be less hostile if we actually were communicated with... ever.

Judging by the forums, I'd say that there's a few pretty valid reasons for PvPers to be more vocal right now.

yea when PvE'rs regularly crash while playing or get rollback, and when RP'rs... umm when emotes don't work, I guess: then they can talk about how they need more attention.

They've got two out of like 3 total content updates, the other was dyes. So friggin entitled.

Although PvPers seem to have a harder time at the moment, would it be useful just to talk with PvPers about the future of the whole game? ZOS just needed to pick a good mix of everything. Big guilds, smaller guilds, PvE players, PvP players, RP players.

Normally, I am OK with what you say and frequently agree, but this is just wrong and I hope you will understand where I am coming from.

First, you cannot just hire people and have them magically crank out fixes. In the short term, the next few months, this will slow down the response, not increase it, and we will probably have a higher incidence of defects.

Second, the money spent on this summit does not touch what a new hire costs.
Still, I don't think a PR campaign is really what the game needs at this point.

I think that this game is in desperate need of a PR campaign. Right now there is a minority of players and bloggers, including many PVP players, that are being allowed to set a large portion of the Public Relations stage for this game. When that is negative, it is not a good thing.

I probably wasn't paying attention when there was some sort of announcement on how to enter your guild into this 'contest' or 'running' to be one of the invitees to this Guild Summit.

    However...if I was:
    • When was the original announcement for this Summit and what were the details on trying to get an invite?

In regards to the guilds that did get an invite and are attending:
    1. How long have they been in existence?
    2. How many members do they have as a community and within their ESO guild?
    3. What kind of players make up their community? Are they PvE guilds? PvP guilds? Role-Playing guilds?
    4. Did the guilds that got picked to attend the summit get picked based on the criteria listed above or were they chosen due to some significant contribution they made to the game as a community?

I'd like to hear from both sides; the Dev Team and the guilds involved that got the invites.

Thank you very much and I look forward to the responses.

In concept, I like this upcoming guild summit. The lack of an NDA implies a degree of transparency and openness. Anything the attendees see and hear, we could learn about it shortly afterwards. I expect the attendees will see quite a bit of new content such as the Imperial City, the Justice System, a new zone or two and possibly a surprise or two. They may even get some hands on time with the new elements, to test drive it in a sense.

Also, I am guessing there will be instances where ZOS solicits feedback in a typical focus group fashion. While the feedback may not implemented or valued in full, it is likely we will have actual players who help steer the ship in some regard because of this summit. It is one thing to read a forum post or bug report. It is another to come face to face with a passionate user explaining the situation or opinion - especially people ZOS valued enough to spend several thousand bucks on to cover all expenses for the trips. It shows a commitment by ZOS to the game which I was unsure they had.

This summit is nothing but good news for us all. I applaud ZOS for hosting it and I eagerly await the reports from the attendees.

Dude you are very naive . There is a reason they are doing this and it isn't because it will be useful marketing tool (exclusion of most is not ). My guess is they are really screwed and don't want to give up on it. Only 750k subs at last count and it would have dropped significantly since then.

Also Update 4 has seen a mass amount of people disappearing (many have said this and I am one of them who have unsubbed)

They clearly need the input and face time with those they regard to be the core elite players. These players will give them input on how to proceed . They will then go back and ....

Overall, I think the *concept* of doing this is a good thing. Face-to-Face is much more potent than a forum or video chat. (I do wonder, however, at this point in the game where so much needs to be fixed and such a long-term roadmap has been made public, exactly what will come out of this).

The selection process could have been handled better. None of us have any idea *how* guilds were selected.

If you truly want the best & brightest, there should have been an open application process. There are numerous guilds, I'm willing to bet, that would have made excellent choices to take this trip but aren't going because they had no idea what the invisible criteria were.
