I bought a 6 month subscription for my account, and it will end in November. I will be buying another 6 month subscription.

I have 2 other accounts in my household, still subbed since April as well...and it doesn't look like they will be unsubscribing any time soon either.

As long as there are people like me, buying subscriptions and spending hundreds of dollars a year, the game will never go free to play.

Pretty sure I'm not the only one :/

Your not the only one, I sub every 6 mos as well..

The game is so dealing broken I can log on any time with no problem and never he kicked!

And because its so broken everyone left which is why there are so many people in my way while trying to play!

Your logic is bad, I'm not commenting on the issue either way but the game was built so that as long as there are people in a zone you'll see the same amount, there might have been 1000 4 months ago in that zone and only 50 now and you wouldn't know the difference.

Vet zones are very empty, Graglorn is a grind zone for people spamming AOE with the game rewarding you for simply racing through content rather than playing it and the EU PVP maps are empty bar one right now. The also need to start testing patches because right now, it's awful how many game breaking bugs are making it past testing (or they just don't listen to the testers).

And as for your suggestion that you never get kicked, try playing PVP entire groups crash at the same time. It's comical to see the chat box go silent and then see countless "did anyone else just have a CTD?".

ESO has been out for over five months and as predicted by the prognosticators and "people in the know" that ESO will be F2P within 6-months we have finally arrived at that magical date in time . . . wait. What's that? We still have a sub? Zones are loaded throughout the leveling process? Players are excited for the future of ESO? Oh . . . sorry . . . never mind!

    Sorry slow ESO Forum day.

Edit: Ok so it's been five months and I can't do math.

Yeah, game is empty and dead, no guilds are left. All remaining players fit into one PVP guild, one PVE guild and one trade guild, and they all have the same roster.

Soon there will be Skill Point tokens for sale in the cash shop for $5.00 per Skill Point you wish to buy.

Does this comment mean you think everything is going well with the game. I dont know about you but many around me have quit - friends saying whole PvP guilds gone - hardcore players going on a break - Max level players like me going on a break

This isnt normal for an MMO that will be successful - 6 months or so in and people are not happy (generally )

It means it's not going F2P no matter how much you try to will it into existence. The people I started playing with are still here. I'm seeing players in every zone and not just starter zones. I'm seeing more new players and players coming back. I'm still seeing a huge desire for the consoles. I'm seeing more players who are going to be returning when Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood go in. I see this game being a Niche game, getting it's audience and those people absolutely loving it.

How well is it doing? I have no idea. I know that a few months ago the starter zones where packed and vet zones had 2-3 people in them and now the people are evenly disbursed across all areas. I know every time I log on I see different names in chat and in the world and have yet to see the same person twice. I also see that ZOS isn't worried and they have the numbers.

TLDR: As of now yes but I am not a psychic

    This is pretty much it.

Well , to be fair , we cant be sure about how is the current situation of the game.

If anything the megaserver is perfect to hide the playerbase numbers , since it is really easy to fill each instanced server using this method and you cant actually check how full is each server like you usually could in other MMOs.

So what will happen remains to be seen, while true it is really unlikely the game will go F2P or even just drop the sub and remain B2P until atleast sometime after the console release.

Still personally i dont see anything on this game to make me believe the situation is any better than it was on many other MMOs i have played and that went under. Seems to actually be walking the same road , slowly be surely.

heh , we now just wait and see.

I don't understand why people want ESO become f2p. Do you think you can play and enjoy the game for free? Or you want to pay more than $15 per month?

I think the general consensus for gamers that a game(mmo) has failed when it is forced to go FTP. There are plenty of gamers who would love for ESO to fail and therefore we keep hearing the question asked. I'm almost certain the majority of mmo or Elder Scrolls players just want to play an awesome game that isn't buggy and has solid design with fun gameplay, and will be more than happy to part with $15 a month to play such a game.

Yes I want to see it go for more then 15 more like 25, if it means more bug fixes and harder content.

Agreed, well except Swtor was technically Freemium rather than F2P, but essentially F2P is bad.

Whilst I do support the game having a sub in principle, I fail to see what my sub gets me. The new content has been generally dull to date and the support for the game is actually a lot worse than many F2P games.

I thought by the 6 month point ZOS would be up to speed, but we seem to paying for the support team to learn the ropes, and they are not learning them particularly quickly.

Weird. It always struck me as odd that apparently, I am the only person alive on this planet who actually enjoyed SWTOR going f2p.

I played it for some time when it was subscription based and quickly left after hitting cap. I still drop by from time to time for the occasional huttball match, and sometimes I even spend some money in the store. It being f2p definitely helped the game staying on my HDD in the first place; I definitely wouldn't spend any money at all ever if I had to subscribe for a month each time I get the notion to play again, so the franchise as a whole definitely gets more money out of me than what they'd get for being p2p based.

I really wonder how they pull that off keeping the servers up and all, considering I am the only person on the entire internet who likes it that way.

I didn't actually dislike it, I left because I finishe d all the main stories, and makeb onwards was a grindfest.

But quite often going F2P means the game becomes unplayable, so I generally disapprove of it, but I keep an openmind.

I am also noticing that I am not seeing the same characters from day to day. The majority of the characters I see are new to me.

It's actually not because they are haters or because they can't afford $15 ;) .

There are a (not small) number of people who:

    - are too fast completing the game even doing achievements, trials etc (me)
    - hate some portion of the game (in example, PvE guy who hates PvP and vice versa, soloer who hates forced group content...) so to them, the game's "over" once they finish the part they like.
    - are bored for whatever reason.
    - have too many technical issues to enjoy the game.
    - find ESO too underdeveloped compared to the TES games they love.

Those players actually love ESO. But they can't justify paying $15 to basically just check hirelings mails and then log off.

Having to pay a sub forces to choose: "stop playing a game you still love" or "keep paying for a game you love but you don't feel like fulfilling <enter one of the criteria above>".

That's why they say: "it's not worth my $15". The love is still there but does not apply to the current game but to a past and - hopefully - future different implementation of it.

What STWOR F2P model has teached them is: they can stop playing even for 1, 2, 3 months and do something else they find more appealing and then come back when their "golden feature" (say: Thieves guild, Imperial City...) is finally available. F2P also gives confidence that if the new feature is a delusion, you did not waste money for a delusion.

It's hard to explain, but the feeling of detachment you get when "pausing" playing a F2P game is way less traumatic than stopping a sub. The latter is like a divorce, feels like a "definitive break" even if it's just about getting a sub again.

How it's hard to explain is evident even in this thread. Some people who would be perfectly happy to just pause ESO (and not break up completely) and resume it later are labelled as haters.

I'm very satisfied with this game NOT being F2P. I prefer Subscriptions by far. It definitely is more manageable as far as quality content & development is concerned. A subscription also gives the GMs more control over keeping botters, spammers, and cheaters at bay.

Sure there are still some here and there, but no where near the amount that plague F2P games.

Heck, I'd pay double the current price just to keep quality content and updates in the works as well as keep the botting trash out of the game.

It's still more entertraining than spamming LFG to some unusual quest Craglorn step for hours and hours.

Yesterday when I and a friend LFG to do the last 2 Mage aspects dungeons, we got a flood of people LOLing at us on zone chat. "LOL good luck with that". "AH AH AH yeah". "Better you ask your guild mates, it just won't happen".

Outcome: me and that guy had to duo the dungeons for 4 men, including the bosses. YAY for *this OH SO POPULAR* group content!

Needless to say, at the same time there were 2 x 12 players outdoor bosses farming groups, 4-5 Hircine groups and 1 anomalies group. That's how good is the group content.

The thing to remember is there were a lot of morons people like me who got caught up in the 1-50 process and paid for 6 months in advance. I played for two months before the VR grind and hand-waving to force you to do quests for your enemies made it clear that the developers rushed the game out the door with no plan for longevity.

At that 6 month mark, you'll see a drop in subscribers, though not necessarily a drop in people in-game. I still hold out hope this game can turn itself around and become something more, but I'm not particularly optimistic.

That all said, it's not that the game is bad, it just was presented as something it never was. It's a grind-heavy game with few viable builds and extremely weak social or grouping tools. For some, that's an awesome thing.

Honestly, it might be that a lot of us projected what the game was going to be onto it rather than having more realistic expectations.
