can someone tell me what Brian said?
  • DuelWieldingCheesyPoofs
Looks like people will simply play other games now since they obviously dnt care.

a lead pvp designer that has nothing to do with player to player combat has just about done it for me, i have 0 faith after hearing this, thank god WOD is just around the corner.

congraz brian, i think this quote will go down in history.

He didn t address ANY of the current issues in PVP...none. Instead they are nerfing oils and making it much harder for lowbie characters to buy camps to stop camp trolling (rofl as if that is going to do anything).

how the hell will making it harder for "lowbies" to get camps, cut down on camp trolling?

In their logic by making people achieve a certain pvp rank BEFORE they can buy camps will reduce trolling...As if there are no trolls whatsoever at level 50 and 20+ in pvp /rolleyes

It is almost as if the decisions are coming from interns or are being outsourced to a company in Bombay that makes t shirts.Still...$15 a month please

they didn't actually say they. they said something to the effect that some improvements could be made. Interestingly they never admitted that it was a broken or exploited mechanic.

Absolutely pathetic that was. Back to WoW it is, this game will be over. At least the PvP will... such a pity.

Lol why would anyone go back to WoW? The majority of us are just holding on with this as something to do until Camelot Unchained comes out

Um... maybe because I played WoW for quite a bit of years and I enjoyed it. Yes, it may not have the same graphics as ESO, but at least the gameplay in WoW works and is actually smooth. No crashing, no fps drops, no lag, no zergballs, no AoE caps, and so on.

I know a lot of people that are WoW veterans, we all thought this game was going to have a great potential and that it was going to be great, especially the PvP. Guess we were all wrong, and now we'll probably drop this game after the poor performance shown by Brian Wheeler. Ah well... one half of my friends list has already been offline for 2+ months, I guess after this pathetic performance, the other half will unsub as well.

They only seem to care about the PvE and RP aspect of the game, which is a real shame. It's fine if you like to PvE and/or RP, I have no problem with that... to each their own, right? But PvP should get just as much attention as PvE and RP. I mean, look at the official ESO CGI trailers on YouTube. What do they show you? I would assume PvP. The Imperial City. The 3 different factions fighting each other. Right?

But the communication and total lack of interest to the PvP community will be it for me. A real shame...

Speak for yourself with your 'majority'. I'm fairly certain the majority doesn't care at all for that poor excuse of a DAoC clone.

i would like to agree with the person you quoted. and poor excuse of a daoc clone? you obviously have no idea what they've even said about their game.

at this point, even if it is a "poor excuse of a daoc clone" it'll still be better than where this game is headed
You mean comparing the promises of CU with the reality of ESO?

actually, if you read what i wrote, i said "where this game is headed"

so it's really promises v promises. i just like CU's promises better

100% focus on PvP (RvR) (especially with computer performance) no aoe caps, more than 6 abilities usable at a time (weapon swap still doesn't make it 12 cause the other 6 become unusable when you swap)

and i think i'll enjoy a game that doesn't keep adding ridiculous bugs to the game everytime they patch something completely unrelated to what got bugged

I'd like to keep my hopes up for Camelot Unchained, given that it's one of the few subscription games coming out.

However, the fact that they gathered only $2,232,933 in funding is worrying (that is low even for a single-player game).

I'll still probably check it out once it releases.

He said they are nerfing oil pots because they are anti-zerg

He said postern doors should be fixed.

He said he is not in charge of pvp combat. The lead PVP guy is not in charge of what happens in cyrodiil apparently.

Spoke about forward camps for about 10 seconds and said that there is no fix at this time.

    That was about it.

To just sit there and pretend the sad state of cyrodiil is "just peachy" while there are game breaking issues going on and not even MENTION them blows me away. He didnt even answer any questions...just ran off after 5 minutes.

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

To be clear, the PvP team covers Cyrodiil, campaigns, and the systems that govern how those function - not the player-to-player combat, classes, and mechanics.

Also, you can view the first show here, and we do plan to archive today's show as well.

    There is a PvP team?
Is there another PvP team that actually cares about PvP? Like balance?
mwhaaaa u almost had me^^ there is no PvP team due to the fact that they did almost nothing till now!

That giant sucking sound you hear is not the jobs moving out of the US. It's the PvP players subscriptions going POOF from this title.

I really liked this game for a while. It's just another garbage GW2 now though.

AOE caps are not needed. Small skilled groups SHOULD be wrecking the zergs and numbers should not = win.

Their VR requirement for camps does nothing to solve the real problem. All it does is cause the troll camp placers to grind more simple mode quests to be able to place their trolls camps...like seriously. The problem with FWC's is not troll camps.

This game is basically a beta test for the console. Once you realize that - you can find something better to do with your time. I certainly have.

They took the core element of DAOC <RvR> and copied the rest from GW 2 to lure casuals. They made their money on the PC game and are now focused on a cash infusion form the console release. It's a business - I get it - and have moved on.

He's in charge of cyrodil elements, not the actual player vs player encounters dealing with skill balance and such. Meaning hes not going to be the one that says this skill is too strong and fix it, nor is he the one working on armor balance. Hes the one that designs the PvDoor encounters.

Why was pvp in beta so much fun? Because forward camps didnt work, and blobbing didnt exist. Amazing isnt it?

The PVP team is outsourced to a t shirt company in Mumbai...all the pvp work is being outsourced there so they are asleep at the moment and it takes 48 hrs to get feedback.

Then it is reviewed by an intern who is the son of the consultant from Brazil that sells the coffee machines to ZOS. Poor kid has been working there for 3 months only but he still does not have an email.

After he reviews the changes and translates them to portuguese they are put in google translation and forwarded for approval to the Xbox team who still is waiting on a game in the first place.

Then a new bug is reported and Mumbai gets a call

Sarcasm aside, that is about how slow things go in the offices of ZoS. Wouldn't be surprised if any of that is remotely accurate.

OMFG seriously? How the H E double hockey sticks do you have a PvP DEV that has nothing to do with how the player to player combat works? This answers a huge amount of questions right there. That should be his TOP FREAKIN PRIORITY!! /laughing in disbelief, it's called PLAYER VS PLAYER. Not Siege and Governing playfield mechanics! What is wrong with you people?

My Gawd you guys really have no clue. Just none. The player combat comes first. Then the field and mechanics in which it's done. Not the other way around. I think just about anyone in this forum would agree. Sometimes the amount of incompetence this company shows is astounding.

    Best post.

I was going to make another sarcastic comment about PVP but at this point I am just not even motivated to write something funny to express my frustration with ZOS. It makes me feel like booking a vacation with Club Med only to be obliged to travel on an airline where people have to stand during the whole trip, with no bathrooms, no air conditioning and cattle mix with people in the cabin. The plane also is run by pilot students and the food gives you diarrhea. The vacation spot itself is awesome...the trip a total joke.

That is how I feel about PVP in ESO. A beautiful and rewarding PVE experiences that was sold as a fantastic PVP game which in fact is like the pile of dino dung that Goldblum looks at in Jurassic Park.

You buy the game looking at the trailer expecting great battles. You level to 10 to get in PVP and then everything collapses into the sewers and the game becomes worst that a high school student project.

Of course you could just dump PVP and only do PVE but when you bought the game for the PVP you feel like you have been lied to. Then you realize you pay $15 a month for the privilege of flying ZOS Airlines...where you stand during the whole trip and the food gives you the runs

Forward Camps are going to get an Alliance Rank requirement to purchase added to them for helping limit the amount of self alliance "trolling". Short of increasing the price to a very high amount, we've read many other suggestions on the boards here and are taking this as a first step.

By not adding the name to the forward camp, we still can not report said troll campers. This being known and your proposed method of initial change, we are to assume that troll camping isn't a bannable offense, it is just gr
