Siege Timer: Yes or No?

I believe that all Siege Engines should have a 5 second Timer. 5 seconds is a reasonable time, and this doesn't hinder normal or intended use of Oil or any other Siege Engine.

This would prevent Stealth Oil Popups, a dubious tactic where you stealth up near a group in a battle, and pop up an Oil, firing the oil, release from oil and going back into stealth either with NB Abilities or Invisible Pots.

So, in the interest of Fair Play, and removing a Cheese Tactic with a Reasonable Mechanism that doesn't interfere with Normal or Intended Use, do you believe a 5 Second Siege Timer would be beneficial to ESO?

I think a different solution is needed. Alternatively, have someone (or multiple someones) in your group run purge and *surprise!* oils won't be nearly as much of an issue.

I'm waiting for the day 24 nightblades with impulse form a raid and start stealthing into groups and just firing 1 glorious impulse. Surprise!

That would require cloak to work.

I think removing invisibility potions would be much more beneficial for PvP.

Adding a timer is not the solution. Especially now that you cant leave siege unmanned. I would love to see friendly fire on Oil and perhaps other siege. Next time add a 3rd option please ( No - but I have another suggestion to stop siege abuse).

You can have one guy firing 2 ballistas, running back and forth.

When you are stealthed and pop up oil, you aren't "revealed" until the siege weapon is used.

The best solution is a timer. This would end all issues surrounding it.

an alternative might be to have similar mechanics such as they have on the battering ram

the ram takes 3 people to actually get it to work, and is at it's most efficient when 6 players are manning it

similar rules could be in place for the other siege weapons

    oil pots:
-1 person - can be deployed and used - deals 50% of current damage
-2 people - can be deployed and used - deals standard damage
-3 people - can be deployed and used - deals 150% damage

    catapults:
-1 person - can be deployed and not used - deals 0% of current damage
-2 people - can be deployed and used - deals 75% of standard damage
-3 people - can be deployed and used - deals standard damage % damage
-4 people - can be deployed and used - deals 150% damage
-5 people - can be deployed and used - reload time increased by 30%

    ballista:
-1 person - can be deployed and not used - deals 0% of current damage
-2 people - can be deployed and used - deals 75% of standard damage
-3 people - can be deployed and used - deals standard damage % damage
-4 people - can be deployed and used - deals 150% damage
-5 people - can be deployed and used - reload time increased by 30%

    trebuchet:
-1 person - can be deployed and not used - deals 0% of current damage
-2 people - can be deployed and used - deals 50% of standard damage
-3 people - can be deployed and used - deals standard damage % damage
-4 people - can be deployed and used - deals 150% damage
-5 people - can be deployed and used - reload time increased by 30%

    just thoughts

I don't really understand the "issue" that the original poster is saying is a "problem." Stealth oil popups? You seriously care about ZOS spending any of their time "fixing" that "issue?"

This is not an issue. This is very situational and is very hard to pull off. It's extremely, extremely rare. I'm not sure I've seen it, and if I have, I obviously did not care enough to even notice that is was a stealth pot. Move away from the oil and kill the guy.

Seriously, please stop wasting time complaining about non-issues.
