GPU getting hit hard during character creation/selection?

I am not certain if anyone else has noticed this, but... has anyone else noticed the GPU getting hit with big load during character creation/selection?
During the whole gameplay, my GPU's temps are usually around 60-70c (70 during hot days) but when I jump into character creation or character select, the temp quickly rises to about 80c and my fans start to kick up to 60%.
While asking if others have experienced this, I would also like to know what exactly is causing this?

DarthFett✭✭✭Yes. I have also experienced this but only since the last patch (1.4).
My GPU works fine all other times but when I first turn the game on it goes into over drive. If I'm playing and go back to character selection it works like normal.
