Reset Hireling(s) - Why? I liked Valinka, now I have Aksel :(

So, why did I lose/reset my hireling(s) with v1.4? I used to have Valinka, and liked her and her story. Now I have Aksel Stonebiter. Why? I'm really annoyed ... I know the updated supposedly added more conversation to the hirelings, but was it supposed to reset? I never paid attention to my Enchanting hireling, so I don't know if he was reset. You HAD to go and kill the one hireling I liked to read....

Its also annoying that all of the tips and preferences got reset (I had customized my Ultimate key, but it got reset).

My hirelings did not reset. I still have Valinka. All key bindings were reset, though, and I get "helpful" popups with newbie tooltips again. It is more annoying than I thought it would be to see all the popups telling me "this is your inventory", "this is your bank", "this is the blacksmithing interface" and the like, for all my characters, for every UI screen in the game.

I have been playing the game for five months. I know how these things work. I also have several characters, and I definitely do not need to be told the exact same thing again for every single one of them.

Thanks, at least I know its not just me with the key bindings and "tips" though. Interesting that you still have Valinka ... guess I was just "lucky"....

No mention of hirelings, though

Perhaps your hireling didn't reset because you haven't reached the end of her story yet. For those of us who were stuck with Valinka's last letter for days, Aksel's story is supposedly the "continuation" - though I must say I'm disappointed, I got used to my hirelings and I'm going to miss them.

I have three mining hireling toons. One toon, the Valinka story ended a month ago. For another, the Valinka story ended a couple days before the update. Both of these toons now get the Aksel story where as they were getting a note from Karamel that Valinka was busy training under Narsis Dres.
My third miner hireling toon is still getting Valinka stories but I know it is almost done.

Yeah, I'm pretty sad that they started new stories rather than continuing the old ones.
