Do the Imperials have an official color pattern I should dye my armor?

Where can I read about Imperial history?

A lot of players seem to equate Imperials with a type of Romanesque culture (names, for example). Why is that?

    Imperials have been given names in ancient Roman style since their introduction as a race, and their legion, Emperor, etc. all lend themselves to Roman influence. The actual Imperial race branches off in many ways, but when in doubt, something vaguely Roman can fill in the gaps.
