Overpowered - by the numbers?

There is a lot of discussion about various classes being over/under powered, but has anyone done an analysis of the numbers to see if such overpower actually shows up in "winning" the game? For example, I just looked at the Haderus leaderboard and found the following in the top 20:

4 Nightblades, with an average of about 200K AP each
6 Templars, with an average of about 130K AP each
6 Dragon Knights, with an average of about 130K AP each
4 Sorcerers, with an average of about 120K AP each

I'm a very novice PvP'er, so forgive my ignorance if the leaderboard/AP values aren't a good measure. If they are, it would be interesting to pull in the entire leaderboard and do a more statistical analysis and plotting the classes and AP distribution - but I haven't undertaken that.

Has anyone "crunched the numbers" and made any conclusions based on them?

The Amount of ap one has nothing to do with skill or which class is overpowered. In fact being emperor means only one thing...you neglect your family and friends more than everyone else. ESO PvP rewards time played not skill.

As of last night i was number #13 on the leaderboard in Chillrend (on the AD side) and i completely agree with the above post.

Given my skills i shouldn't be anywhere near that position ...

AP has no correlation to how strong a certain class is. AP is determined by how long you play in Cyrodiil. For example, you get an average of 20k AP per hour on Thornblade (NA). No matter what class you are, if you play for 20 hours vs 10 hours, you will have more AP.

All classes can be strong against weaker builds. However, if you put the most optimized DK against the most optimized NB, the DK will always win.

Good point. I agree that looking at any given player and solely using AP to measure their skill probably isn't valid for exactly the reason you state. But the point of the question isn't player skill - it is if the leaderboard statistics can reveal a class imbalance. Within the group of players who get on the leaderboard, wouldn't the class mix still be telling regardless of why those players are there? Or do those "types" of players tend to choose certain classes more frequently and in a way that wouldn't be representative of class imbalance (e.g., they tend to choose underpowered classes instead of overpowered classes)?

AP doesn't reflect what is Op or a bad class, it just shows who zerg impulse spams more.

If it were a 1v1 leader board that was win/lose instead of time played then it would reflect it, which would probably look like

    DK:10
    Sorc:5
    NB:3
    Temp:2

It is hard to gauge class effectiveness from looking at AP gained, because you can't factor our how much time each player has played. On the otherhand, if you want to see which classes are most effective in Trials, you can look at the Trials leaderboards. There you will see considerable imbalances.
Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:

Where on the trails leaderboards do you see imbalances? The classes look pretty balanced to me.

Also, please don't refer to the leaderboards before the reset, since those leaderboards had exploiters and many of the runs were done before DKs were nerfed.
