Not impressed with Arena rewards so far.

I do like some of the new sets, but we had hoped to see V14 gear drop when we started in the vet mode. First several rounds did indeed reward V14 gear, but it was trash blue gear that you could craft yourself and nobody will use. Finally I got a purple footman piece (shoulders) and... V13. So... thanks for making me work about ten times harder to save four purple upgrade mats?

Not that we aren't enjoying the challenge of the vet arena (though some mechanics are more annoying than fun), but we really were hoping to see better drops. I assume a better shot at getting one of the good weapons at the end of the arena might come with the vet version (we only made it about half way so far). For the difficulty level of the vet arena however (vs the rest of Craglorn and Normal arena where all V13 drops anyhow), the rewards should really be much better than what they are.

Anyone had any better luck?

I just laugh at the whole arena thing. Everyone wants an arena, but not like this, we want an arena we fight each other.

It's like if everyone was on board the "We want pole arms in game" boat and they do put them in... But for npc only.

Agree. I can tell you as well that the later stages in the arena are extremely difficult... the last boss is *nearly* impossible.

Effort : Reward ratio is not appropriate.

In the latter stages some of the set items happen to drop in vr14 version, but its hilarious that doing nm DSA can award you with the same items that hm drops.
Generally the new items introduced with 1.4.3 are just a joke in terms of rewarding the player for working his butt of in both Sanctum Ophidia and DSA hm. I hope the devs realise this thing and introduce some new better gear.

P.S.: A plea to the devs that design the gear to stop the trolling by putting useless traits to vr13-vr14 gear like exploration e.t.c.

When you see items that drop in the VR13-14 range that have Exploration, Sturdy, or Well-fitted as traits, it makes you wonder if the people making this game know anything about their own game.

    It really is baffling.

At least the Healer set is pretty nice.

These Traits wouldn't be a problem, if you could just overwrite them with crafting. Just like Upgrading the quality of items, it should be possible to change the Trait of an Item. Best way would be via some kind of Glyphs from Cloth, Smith and Woody Profession.

^^^ totally agree. DSA is freaking awesome! The drops could be better, but then it would make getting dropped items the obvious choice over crafted items. I like the fact you need to really think about whether you want an awesome trait or an awesome set bonus.

No, they really don't. That's why every poll on the subject has pretty much been the complete opposite of what you just said. A small subset of the minority of players that actually pvp wanted an arena for pvp, the majority does not and will not touch it. Raiders and pvpers make up a fraction of the player base.

Those lols aren't because people find your post haha funny either.

sorry to burst your "imagine if they did this" bubble but they already have done this... there are plenty of spear using NPCs in the game, tho you don't fight most of them. there are videos of NPCs dueling with spears online. mostly staged npc emotes but still.

and yes. its very much a slap in the face to those who want the spears.

If you compare the effort of clearing hardmode Arena to crafting a set that everyone and their mother is already wearing, it should be obvious that Arena gear deserves better stats/bonuses. Why would I ever do Arena again (after getting achievement), if I can just craft better gear in 5 minutes with minimum effort?

It is fun. For the first time you do it (although the drops still disappoint). When you do it for the 517th time you'll start thinking "why am I doing this", if it isn't rewarding enough. I've done Arena once, and I have no intention of running it again until the loot is fixed.

    Says it all.

Honestly, gear isn't everything there is to the game. I understand why people would want better drops but I think the main reason why we all play games is to have fun. I would rather hash through difficult content with my group than worry about what I'll be getting for doing so. The reward is the completion. Anything you get along the way is just a bonus.

ZOS seems really adamant to keep any sort of challenge out of their game. They quickly nerfed the final boss of the arena in a hotfix because they felt it was too tough.

Are you kidding me? Please go ahead and clear Arena hardmode yourself. It is definitely not easy.

And the reward being "completing it"? Are you aware we are playing an MMO, which means people will always want to make their characters stronger and more powerful? If you want your reward to just be "completing it", go pick up a single player game.

    Typical entitled PvE'r behavior.

Yes, you should get a cookie for defeating the arena on hard or whatever other difficulty level. I suspect you would require something -better- than everyone else gets to be happy though.

I'd kill to get nirnhoned items to research or sell from any of the activities I partake in personally.

yea ..we cleared normal mode the other day with some friends and it was very fun and challenging . We are eager to try vet mode next time ,but first we have to reach veteran 14 level xD.

Anyone can confirm if the vet 13 drops are intended? I really hope that they fix it ...since the DSA its a very "expensive" and long dungeon, rewards should be at least vet 14

    Intended, I don't know.

At first I was happy we got v14 gear, even though it was blue trash that nobody would actually use. But once we got actual set pieces, they were only v13. I'm hoping it's not intended.

Go and clear it on vet ant then come back ;) Vet is Hard as -snip-. and at least on vet i would expect decent drops.

Here, this is what you expect in Veteran Mode stage 8-10. Dont watch the video if you not wanna get spoiled. This is on EU Liveserver recorded yesterday.

For the same reason they created a new level cap. They actually wrote they needed to add 2 levels to "clear" the huge mess they have done. This includes endless instances of messing up including letting Aether gear be unbound and sold to anybody.

Now, they might have smarted up and understood that any mistake they do, players are ready to exploit it. Put in the top gear at day 0 and somebody SHALL find a loophole to farm it and possibly inflation it till it becomes irrelevant.

Put it after 1 month and people will have:

    1) To waste their time (read: more paid sub time) to re-grind it.
    2) Less probability of exploitable loopholes being still present by that time.

Ah, what should they do, make trials drop VR16 gear? Because they still have to keep general farmable instances rewards below trials. The latter are already a joke (rewarding wise) as is, imagine if the drops were similar to those you can get in 4 men.

What would help for me is if your gear did not have to be repaired in dsa. Perhaps a free repair vendor after each wave? First time in we spent probably 3k gold on repairs for about 500g in loot. It didn't make me want to go back and practice more...
