Seems to be a real dry spell since the 1.3 update. I'd usually get a couple every week, but I haven't seen one since that update. Could be bad RNG for me, but I was curious if they buggered it again.

✭✭✭✭✭I had one right after the 1.4 patch on Monday but overall, the drop rate has been much lower in the last few weeks compared to earlier.
On the upside, that also means they started selling again in the guild store!

No COs they fixed it, they were supose to be rare so been fixed for a while but then they messed up recipes, so they started droping like flys, now they have fixed that too and messed up most containers containing nothing.

Inco✭✭✭✭Got a purple recipe yesterday, but have not seen a motif in a while. Seems like it was nerfed when the recipes got bumped in drop rates. I suspect its a decision made behind the scenes to keep things from getting too common.1

✭✭✭✭✭I have more Khajiit than I can use. Picked up two in the last week, one before the update and one after.
I am never sure whether someone saying "most containers containing nothing" is just exaggerating or whether they actually believe what they are saying and assume it applies to everyone.
I spent the evening in Shadowfen and did not find a single container with nothing in it when it should have had something in it. I did not encounter an unusual number of already looted containers, either.
I get about a quarter of the stuff I put in the Guild Store from the various chests, desks, crates, barrels, and night tables around the cities and outlying areas.

The containers should instance to you so you shouldn't have to worry about other players. A few spots at the moment that have all empty containers (Stormhaven seems to be the main one) but otherwise you should be fine to find things no matter what others are doing.

Gillysan✭✭✭✭3 blue recipes but no Motifs, have been in VR1 Stonefalls since the patch. I now have enough inventory space (150 with a horse) with that character that I loot everything instead of being selective like I have been for months. So everywhere I go I also go through all the containers while questing and screwing around. Maxed out crafters so I sell all white normal drops and only break down or keep green and better loot. ✭✭✭✭✭I got one the other day, but that's been about it since patch before last. They over nerfed the drop rate and over buffed the recipe drop rate. They should both be about the same drop rate and probably somewhere in the middle of what the two of them are now.-- @xaraan --

✭Seeing how this appears to be a difficult problem for the developers to solve makes me really wonder how they implemented the random loot drop tables. They must have some really funky and convoluted math going on, or perhaps a very bad and unmanageable interface to edit this stuff. It appears as if they can't actually make sure before going live that the drop rates are going to turn out the way they intend.
On a positive note, I had two common (blue) motifs drop within a minute for me today, incidentally from the same container (main desk in the Daggerfall bank) but with different characters. I have never found a rare motif with any of my VR characters, however.

Same boat, I have found lots of blues no purple motifs yet

Gillysan✭✭✭✭If you go through a town or public dungeon where no container has anything to loot, make sure to bug report it. I have reported 2 dungeons so far. However, I am still getting loot in other places. One of the moderators posted in some thread here to report this occuring, think it was a thread about Stormhaven being strangely empty. Woolenthreads✭✭✭✭I have spent several weeks trolling through the containers with a L15 character trying to obtain just one instance each of a scuttle and a Dragon-sap recipe. I got a scuttle recipe a week ago and then last night the god RNG favoured me with a Dragon-sap Recipe, Scuttle Recipe and two blue racial motifs. So now I expect to get nothing I would really like for months

EU has about 60% empty containers.
NA about 20%.
