I like that I can play solo and actually level at a decent rate.
I also like my guildies (which is unusual because I dislike people in general).

This one swears-by his life and his love of it-that this one will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for him.

I just joined my first guild recently and they are awesome. I mean I have been invited to guilds before, but never participated in them. I decided to try out RP'ing and found a really good guild that has some really cool people. I used to shy away from online gaming cause I just wanted to play alone, but this game allows you to do that and makes it easy to be social at the same time.

Haha on the subject of sound effects. I was sitting here playing the other night and ran past a squirrel chattering and my dog went nuts. I have heard them before but never really noticed it until my dog was climbing into my lap cocking her head at my speakers :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha! My cat did the same after hearing one in the game!

I don't even get lag. I don't know why but I don't. The worst that has happened is now my frames suck. When everyone else was having the Frames issue in cyrodill being like 2 FPS I was still hitting 50-60 now im getting like 12 in towns in pve. It's odd. Doesn't ruin the game or make it unplayable but it is weird.

Make sure the new particle settings are right down, and try switching the screen mode between full screen and windowed (full screen) depending on which you had before.

    My personal like list:
    • Characters (NPCs): Some very deep characters around, very likeable and interesting. I think ZOS raised the bar in creating good and believable characters and I really hope that the next single player TES is up to the challenge. This is more or less coupled to the good stories too.
    • Beautiful scenery to look at and take screenshot of (I have around ~1000 taken! I'm thinking about starting a video series of cool places in ESO)
    • Memorable events (either good or bad): I still remember the moment my char helped Aranias (spoiler below: [1], good moments), or when my other char chose the wrong option at the start of the EP quest line [2] (bad!)
    • Details, details everywhere :)
    • All my guildies :)
    • People's characters around (... yes, some are ridiculous, I know... yet some are incredible cool! just like in RL :stuck_out_tongue:)
    • New lore... piles and piles of new books never seen before in any TES. Most of them top notch quality. Is the best thing that have happened to TES since Redguard/Morrowind (not said by me: borrowed from a lore 'buff' from the official forums...)

[1] To become Wilderqueen in Greenshade

The ambient sound is lovely - very relaxing.

Enjoy soloing and meeting up with my partner and her sister now an then.

Currently enjoying the sheer ease of leveling a caster/magicka user. Previously I leveled a Stamina DK. Now, as a Magicka DK is so so easy.

Very relaxing! And my Altmer gets to watch all the little Dunmer running around - great fun!

Heeeeey! A chance to ramble... yay! Let's get to ramblin' and ramble on!

(Warning! I'm wordy. Reading the whole thing may cause, blindness, cranial implosion and a severe lack of human companionship. Skip to the bottom paragraph if you'd like a synopsis)

I've played a few other MMO's and many, many other RPG's and in truth, there's always something that I love about all of them. Also, it's kind of funny but most of the time the things I dislike (which I won't name specifically to keep in the spirit and wishes of the question and OP, except one thing) tend to be almost the same every time. One thing in other games that I've come to dislike soooooo much is crafting. Crafting tends to have one or two good things about it, then just drops off into a cliff of absurd levels of boredom and redundancy and the reason I say this is...

Crafting in this game got me excited. Not in a way that requires censored mosaics and a protesting PTA group outside either. A good excited and the best part; I was excited when I hit cap! AhMahGash! It was such a dramatic change to be able to make gear that was still competitive with what would come from dungeons. It was even better that I could make it Legendary. The only thing that could have possibly made that any better would be the ability to name my crafted legendary-ies (yes, i just did that). Of course, not all a bad thing, I'm sure that there'd be a wide number of people who named their stuff things like "Poopstick-O-Doom" or worse... /gag

Anyway, on to other stuff. I'd heard so many negative things about this game that I actually watched a couple hours of some "Let's Play" vids. When I was fairly satisfied that I'd enjoy it enough to play through to at least cap to form a real opinion I bought it. I started out with two characters that I leveled at roughly the same time and one of the first things I saw was Kenarthii's Roost. It was impressive not just because they did a good job rendering it but because it actually reminded me of real things. The water was beautiful and in that warm sunlight looked like it would be perfect for swimming, almost to the point that I could feel that sun on my skin and the cool water brushing up and gently enveloping my feet before receding once again. Heck, even later, when my characters were in Coldharbour it still looked impressive, not cause it was just done beautifully but because it actually still looked like water but different. Like it was somehow thicker, more gelatinous.

I know the next thing I like may inspire some hate but I beseech those who'd lecture me and run me out of Forum Town, put down your spears and torches and give the dogs a bone. I realize not everyone feels this way. Even that I'm in a minority. I play solo almost all the time. Yes, yes, I'm a headcase. I have issues that are irksome and not really compatible with a game that wants you to make friends but there it is. What to do? Quit playing games that I know I'd like & love because of a debilitating problem? Or... make believe. I'm not an amazing player, I do lots of research on all the games I play, I figure things out and I learn slowly. So when it came time to play to cap solo, would I be able to do it and be challenged enough to want to do it while still being able to do it without long hours of boredom and frustration? Yes. I was in VR content and cap'd before the VR Nerfing and like many other casual players I was able to do it. I solo'd delves/dolmen/public dungeons/quests/WB's, it wasn't always easy and sometimes I'd have to come back a few times and try different things but I got it, more often than not, alone. Of course, there will be those who tell me I'm doing it wrong. They'll say that I'm playing an MMO like it's a single player game and to those peeps; I can agree. I mostly agree, even. Still, what are my options? Not many with such exact specifications. Besides, if I want to play in a persistent online world, with updates, pvp, new gear, new content... where should I and my ilk go? Until there is such a thing that's not just a patch work of paid DLC every six months or so... here I am.

Level playing fields? Most of the time. Sometimes, in many other games my dog and I read updates, lists of gear and where they dropped along with various patch notes and then shake our heads. Then we cry and hug a lot before drinking ourselves into slumber. Why? Because in many games it would appear that the companies who run them tend to cater to and reward elitism. Don't hate me forever for this, it's just one nerds opinion. But more often than not, the pvp'er who's wearing super-gear and melting faces tends to be the same one who's on the forums telling new players that if they're level ten, they shouldn't come pvp until they have gear/skill/level/women/house/cars/super-secret spy planes that go faster than the speed of sound. Or in many cases, the guy who's in a group next to you, making you feel like a two-inch half-wit and spamming foul words every time you mess up on your first time in a dungeon happens to be wearing top-tier items that could likely one-shot most players. Obviously, this isn't always the case, and in some cases people who do amazingly well are actually really really nice. Still, this game seems to manage what kind of gear everyone has access to. I can either make gear that's close (many times, even better!) to what they have or find similar gear in drops outside of those dungeons and upgrade it myself. I can still enjoy content without having to join a group where half of them are on ignore anyhow.

Finally the last thing and perhaps the most important. First a revelation...
I'm a nerd. There. For all those who've managed to endure this far into my post... You know, unequivocally without doubt or further suspicion; I'm a nerd. While many other teenage children were playing sports, I did much fewer of them in order to make time for things like Role-Playing Games where you were forced into inhumane acts like using your imagination instead of having a pixel rendering. We tossed the dice, we drank too much soda and talked about girls in the same awed and mythically-inspired (Bonus points! New word. You are welcome.) ways that we spoke of dragons. I even have enough [early] gray in my hair that I started by playing a certain games second edition. You have to understand, back in those days we had horse-drawn carriages and computers were impressive when they were just a glorified Rolodex, talking to friends meant picking up the phone and using your fingers to dial them on the rotary phone and computer games based on that early "board" game all *sucked* in such a big way. Perhaps a die-hard enthusiast of those days would call them the first sand-box games, but they'd be crazy. Those games were confusing even when you'd read thousands of pages of rules and knew *that* game. Then, something amazing happened. Rights to the game changed hands, deals were made, trumpets sounded and a *great* game came forth. From that point forward, many companies have taken their shot, many have succeeded and every time the little nerd still left inside me, who's beaten down regularly, rejoices quietly.
This game is one of the most successful, imo, of all of them. Because you can make whatever you want. Obviously, there's some contention right now as to which is the most successful, there always has been and always will be. But I've played a NB archer/dual wielder, who sucks the life out of people and I've played Heavily Armored warriors who slam in to Massive Groups and made them eat the teenage angst left in me. And, effectiveness aside, debates to the wind, I had fun on all of it. I've used a bow with incredibly efficiently on my heavily armored warrior and then switched over and slammed into them in a blinding rush of steel and flesh. I've been brought low by Dragon Knight casters with as much skill as time on their hands. I've been rocked by sorcerers with more armor than me and a two-hander, slinging spells as often as they reigned down blows. Where else are you going to see that? More importantly, where else are you going to do that?

In closing; I love this game for a lot of reasons. I think that whether you're an RP'er with dreams of acting or making the first truly amazing (or even just good, would be okay) Fantasy Movie aside from a couple notable exceptions. A MinMax Master of Mayhem, a social butterfly who's interest run to the verbal or just an aging nerd who avoids the light of day and most human contact; this game has something for you.
I'd recommend this game to anyone, it's the "same" enough not to be confusing while different enough not to be the same ol' thing.
To those players who are playing now; I truly hope you have as much fun as I've had and to those who aren't I can honestly say that I hope that you'll find what you love about the game and revel in it! Have fun storming the castle!

I say this hesitantly... I enjoy the playerbase. I was on Thornblade awhile back and some guy started using the f word in zone (the hate slur) and people actually got offended, and put him on ignore, and reported him.

First game I have played in awhile where the playerbase didn't feel like a throwback to the 90s.

Recently, on the f2p game I do forum moderator work for a player was banned for racial slurs and hate speech directed at homosexuals and the differently able.

The individual in question actually made a separate account with which to whine about being banned and how it was "unjust" and claiming how the content posted was not anything bad.

This sort of thing happens with relative frequency.

I love that in ESO I do not have to deal with the f2p playerbase. :)

    - It's subscription-based.
    - The game world is beautiful (graphics and sounds).
    - Playing through the content for the first time and exploring the game world is tons of fun.
    - The first few weeks in Cyrodiil were amazing and when there is a good, large fight going on without zergballs, PvP still can be lots of fun.
    - There's regular, large content updates for free!
    - A PTS that allows us to test upcoming content with template characters.
    - After an initial period of struggle, ZOS has handled the gold farmer and bot problem with a success that surprised me. I know from other MMOGs how bad it can get. In ESO, I haven recieved a single RMT spam message or ingame mail in months! I also haven't seen a single bot for over a month now (and I recently leveled an alt from lv 3 to lv 28).
    - Riding in ESO feels great.
    - Given the complex and dynamic nature of the combat and movement system, the reaction time to the server is amazing. The game plays without halts or delays in almost any situation. There is barely any difference to playing an offline game.
    - There's a big variety of things you can do in the near-endgame now. Some are more efficient than others (for exp), but there's a lot you can do.

    The crafting system
The non-raid stance they seem to be taking
The solo-friendliness for a good portion of the game
The atmosphere (from the sound track to the talking NPCs)
The ability to go into first person
The refreshing guild stores idea (though it could still be polished)
