We Need a Appearance Editor!!!

  • andre.roques.3b14_ESO
The cheaper, more affordable "barber" part would cover all "easily to accomplish" appearance changes, like:
    • Hair Style (going from short to long hair can be explained by Alchemy)
    • Hair Color (dito)
    • Head Adornment
    • perhaps even Skin Color, as it could be changed by makeup or potions as well
The costs for this could be in the range of tens or (low) hundreds of Gold Coins.

I realize that Skyrim DLC allowed for full appearance changes in the thieves guild, but I'd rather (at least initially) like to stick to these more reasonable appearance changes. For a fee.

Not quite, "should there be an appearance editor" is a question, which provokes a response.

The word "Petition" provokes a list of people going "/Agreed".

I understand why they've made this rule, it means that instead of list of people typing a short phrase, you get people actually talking about the details, and why they want it, or don't.

However, I do think that sometimes a petition is desirable.

Now for the subject of the thread, I would support a face-changer/barbershop style option in game. Provided it doesn't change race, gender or class, I want some choices to actually represent something permanent.

But for purely appearance alterations, go for it.

You're talking plastic surgeon rates here.

NB: Yes, I know, I voted "unnecessary". But I've since come to think of it. It happens. ;)

I think an appearance editor for altering existing characters could be implemented twofold. In medieval times, barbers often doubled as surgeons (hence the name barber-surgeon), because they were used to having and handling sharp instruments on a daily basis anyway.

The more expensive "surgeon" part would cover all heavy alterations at a high price (tens of thousands of GC), maybe even on a longer cool down, like once per month. These would include all other sliders from the character creation menu.

There could even be some exceptions to the latter: Body Hight (locked down), Age (only older), and Mouth Curve (free, because smiles should always be free ^_^).

man that one line was a blast from the past, dentist used to say thing when i was a kid.

but this could be one of the good money sinks for update 7-8 as by then people will have settled down on a specific character and can bet the economy will be booming

After testing out the classes and races a bit before settling on my main character, I did meticulously create her and probably wouldn't change her particular appearance because I'm pretty much completely satisfied with how she turned out. But I am fickle and probably want to dedicate the entirety of my time playing ESO with her and I imagine, down the road, I will really want to change her hair.

I think an appearance editor in a game like ESO, where you can experience the content all on one character, would be a very good idea. This game encourages us by design to spend a lot of time with one toon, and after staring at the same model for hours and hours, being able to spend gold on a little change would be welcoming.

Thanks for clearing that up. I agree, we should be able to make cosmetic changes. Nothing stays static and neither should my characters appearance. Maybe I want to add a scar, or get a tatoo, or a haircut. Why shouldn't I be able to?

It would be nice. First couple of days of early access many of us couldn't zoom in when making out characters, so being able to fine tune would be lovely. I hope it would work for vampires as well, unlike Skyrim.

A barbershop that lets you change your hair, facial hair, face paint, etc for a small fee would be a good thing. A face sculptor like the one in Skyrim that uses strange magic to let you change anything about your appearance for a significantly larger fee would also be good. Both are lore-friendly, and I'd like to see them both implemented. I doubt I'd ever change anything other than hair and such, but still it would be nice to have the option.

We don't just need an appearance editor but a way to go back to the entire character select screen and have the ability to change everything including voices and body types.

I don't know why ZOS has been taking their sweet time on this.

This is a good game feature, and is needed. I'd prefer the costs to be ingame gold, and be very cheap, like in LOTRO, so people can happily change their appearance whenever they feel like a new look.

I actually noticed that there seemed to be an actual visual difference between the character as I built it and what I see in play. Mostly, I suspect, due to the variable lighting. At least one of the characters sho was supposed to look neutral looks angry and another who looked serious in the modelling looks quite mean in the wrong light. The Character Creation system only has one lighting condition which can make it hard to judge what the character will actually look like in play

That being said, I would just as happily support being able to vary the lighting conditions during character creation, to make comparisons.

Finally, I normally don't care much about the cosmetic look of the character in FP-capable games, after creation, simply because I prefer First Person View and therefore can't really see the character ;)

A huge part of MMOs for me is character creation. I can easily say that I consistently spend more time messing with my characters look than doing anything else, except in this game and its starting to get to me. Its like having an itch I cant scratch. These games are supposed to be fun right? That's what everyone keeps saying. Well perpetually redesigning my character is tons of fun for me so give me my damn character editor. And it better not be some half assed pos that just lets me swap mustaches either or *** going to get real.

One of my chars got an unwanted facelift with patch 1.1.2; his nose changed, wrinkles disappeared, and he gained weight and muscles (yikes!), so yeah, I really wish I could change him back to his ole crooky wrinkled gaunt self...*sigh*

I would love to have an ability to tweak my character appearances after creation. There's just something about my main character's face that doesn't look as nice as I wish it did in game lighting versus character select, but no way I'm rerolling.

I had a second account in SWG just to have an Image Designer wholly devoted to my main character.

Where did you find this picture? I simply must have it for my desktop background.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

When I created my first character (that I'm still using), I wasn't able to zoom in, so I had to do the face in total view. Not really happy with everything there.

But even if there is no such editor, we should at least be able to change things, that you can also change in real life: hair, jewelry and make up.

I would not like to see the ability, to also change class and race!

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, because I love the game. Completely addicted to it, and play it every day. HOWEVERRRR, I must express that I feel slighted by ZOS, that with all the outcries from the player base pleading for character appearance customization, ZOS seems to be all about developing new content for veteran players and PVP. I saw mention of some upcoming RP style barbershop where one day you'll be able to cut your friend's hair. If I had to guess it will be something like the dye/achievement system where with achievements you learn dye colors, only now hair styles too. *Yawn*

Please forgive me, but changing one's hairstyle just isn't enough. Can we keep it simple and go to a "Make Over Mage" or something similar and be able to edit more than just a hair style? Sure there's always a line needing to be drawn, changing race - a no no of course, changing your class - obviously not, changing your gender - I don't think it necessary but I'm sure there are others that feel strongly that it should be allowed, and all the rest, just like in the initial character creation should be allowed to be changeable.

I'm one of the many who customized my character and found the character didn't come out looking like the creation preview. On top of that there are people who's character's were glitched and changed after their creation.

People change hair and adornments, people change makeup, people get flabby, or tone up, or lose weight, people develop scars, some scars heal. Some get enhancement surgeries, these are all changes that can be made realistically in life.

The fact is, with all of the content available in the game, many of us with completionist attitudes. These character's are our commitments for the entirety of ESO's existence.

Sorry my thoughts are all over the place, it's because I'm at work. *snicker*

This is my 2 cents, but if enough people donate a few cents, we'll have a whole dollar. Think about it.
