NB: Yes, I know, I voted "unnecessary". But I've since come to think of it. It happens.
I think an appearance editor for altering existing characters could be implemented twofold. In medieval times, barbers often doubled as surgeons (hence the name barber-surgeon), because they were used to having and handling sharp instruments on a daily basis anyway.
The cheaper, more affordable "barber" part would cover all "easily to accomplish" appearance changes, like:The costs for this could be in the range of tens or (low) hundreds of Gold Coins.

The more expensive "surgeon" part would cover all heavy alterations at a high price (tens of thousands of GC), maybe even on a longer cool down, like once per month. These would include all other sliders from the character creation menu.
There could even be some exceptions to the latter: Body Hight (locked down), Age (only older), and Mouth Curve (free, because smiles should always be free ^_^).
Thanks for clearing that up. I agree, we should be able to make cosmetic changes. Nothing stays static and neither should my characters appearance. Maybe I want to add a scar, or get a tatoo, or a haircut. Why shouldn't I be able to?AlexDougherty wrote: »eventide03b14a_ESO wrote: »So if he titled it "Should there be an appearance editor" instead of using the word petition it would be okay? Not quite, "should there be an appearance editor" is a question, which provokes a response.
The word "Petition" provokes a list of people going "/Agreed".
I understand why they've made this rule, it means that instead of list of people typing a short phrase, you get people actually talking about the details, and why they want it, or don't.
However, I do think that sometimes a petition is desirable.
Now for the subject of the thread, I would support a face-changer/barbershop style option in game. Provided it doesn't change race, gender or class, I want some choices to actually represent something permanent.
But for purely appearance alterations, go for it.

As explained in our Code of Conduct, threads labelled as petitions don't promote discussion but rather nonconstructive posts along the lines of "/signed." As this thread has developed into a more productive and meaningful discussion, we have decided to assist the OP and the thread will be allowed to continue on so long as discussion continues to be productive

I can easily say that I consistently spend more time messing with my characters look than doing anything else, except in this game and its starting to get to me. Its like having an itch I cant scratch. These games are supposed to be fun right? That's what everyone keeps saying. Well perpetually redesigning my character is tons of fun for me so give me my damn character editor. And it better not be some half assed pos that just lets me swap mustaches either or *** going to get real.
Hair color & style, Tattoos yes, even the facial expression might be plausible - everything else should stay the same in my opinion.
Players should not be able to perform surgery on their chars
