My armor degrades through combat. I don't even need to die and my armor can go from perfect down to zero and I have no notice about it other then a message that appears for about 2 seconds. I really hope this mechanic wasn't intended.

If this is a bug please fix ZoS, it is very obnoxious, no other zone in the game has this problem. At least if I die a lot I know that my armor will be broken, then it gets completely changed when I'm in cold harbor.

There is nothing wrong with Coldharbour. Been that way since head start.

Armor degrades based on xp gain, as was mentioned in this thread a few times. Even my Vet characters that need to level up a skill and go zombie farming experience this. And it happens fast while farming xp. The popular notion amongst the theorycrafters is to just do it naked. No repair costs. And I do on all my characters that need to level up skills. Except my Templar. She runs out of magicka too fast without her gear.

So If I run to Auridon and let a ghost attack me my armor will go from 1207 to 0? no, it doesn't. It only happens in Coldharbor.
What about this reply didn't you understand?

If your over leveled by 5 levels, then you get no armor damage
I assume of course you're not level 10 in Coldharbour!

They're (probably) talking about the endgame version of Coldharbour. This is the sixth major questing zone in the game (after your faction's five). It runs level 44-50. Meaning, outside of the clanfears around where you enter, you will never be overleveled for it, so far as I know.

Some of the creatures have levels that span beyond 44. Like the popular zombies by the laboratory, who are level 47. Those zombies give xp to vet characters. Not the kind that levels their vet status, but to skills.

Had a guy who didn't realize that keep complaining in whispers til I finally put him on ignore. A V12 or now V14 can go there and level up a skill they've chosen to unlock and then morph.

Fixed that for you. (The post you replied to made that point already.)

My best guess is that you're not countering attacks specific to Coldharbor. Your character is spending time on his/her butt more often than they should. Simple... take less hits, your armor doesn't deplete as quickly.
Armor damage is directly from exp gain and deaths.

If your in a group and you do range attacks and the mobs never even LOOKs at you, but your getting exp, you are also getting armor damage.

The other side tho, if your high level and your getting hit by hundreds of low level mobs that do not give you exp (and you don't die) you can do that for years and no armor damage.

    Its a silly system.

P.S. If your armor is lower level then you, the % of damage per exp gain is higher

I would love to see some source material on this claim.

@DenverRalphy look through some of the older threads, in the early days people were complaining about having to repair armour despite blocking properly and avoiding attacks.

The Mods responded that this was correct and everything was working as intended.

That's right the Moderators confirmed that combat and experience gains decay armour, and that this is how it's supposed to be.

Also, if you use DuraMeter or another addon that tracks deterioration on your hud, you can see degradation happening as it occurs. When you have a setup like that it rapidly becomes very clear when your gear takes damage.

But that doesn't explain when I was losing armor value at V12 to level 40 zombies (when i was grinding them)
There are no level 40 zombies in Coldharbour. If there were, then there would be exactly zero point to you grinding them as a VR12, because you wouldn't get any loot or xp from them anyway. So your scenario definitely didn't happen the way you claim it did.
