My Nightblade is bow, dual wield, sword and board and restro staff.

He plays just fine. Course, he doesn't try to go invis in the middle of combat to escape. At best, he just pops it to break target locks and get a solid crit on his next attack.

I really think that the playstyle makes all the difference. The class functions perfectly well when you take one mechanic out of it (a mechanic that is common to rogue classes in other MMO's, and so many seem to assume that it should be common here).
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

^this. Those who play nightblade dual wield/bow are usually the ones to complain. This in itself is not a NB problem, but a stamina build and non class weapon skills problem. The class is fine. Tweak a few skills to make them work correctly and it would be perfect. That's really the only issue. Skills are good, some just need to be fixed like cloak is still messed up.

NB isn't supposed to be a rogue anyways. I am (not) surprised that most people have never bothered to look up Elder Scrolls lore and see that NIGHTBLADES are casters. They use magic that cripples, drain, siphon, and confuse their enemy. They generally yield a sword and use restoration magic to add to their survivability. This is how I play the class, and it's wicked strong. I DPS, I even am an NB healer and heal VR dungeons all the time with great success. I have a close range bar and a distance bar for PvP and it is great.

I'll agree that this goes against the whole "play as you want" because to maximize NB you do really have to play NB as intended, but again, that's not an issue with NB. The issue lies in weapon skills not being even close to as good as class skills. Simple as that. Look at the majority of top builds out there. They usually only have 1 MAYBE 2 weapon skills on the bar. Stamina skills are outshined by magicka/class skills. I'd love to go back to running around with my 2H/Bow stamina build, but it isn't competitive enough. Not because I am an NB, but because the skills all lack luster do to stamina not fueling the skills as much as magicka fuels magicka based skills. Why use a skill that hits for 300 when I can use a magicka skill that hits for twice that and my magicka pool is used ONLY for magicka?

That's the real issue here, not NB.

I am satisfied with my Nightblade because I do not feel the need to play a stereotypical and limited build.
I'm satisfied because whether I want to play stealthy, frontline, caster, or archer, can have fun.
I am satisfied because I explored all the skills available to me and figured out what they do and don't do, and how to use them efectively. (Strife is not a dot, and **** agony)

LOL - I was satisfied yesterday, I'd given up using cloak in favour of invisibility potions and reduced detect range and my lovely Night's Silence speed boost to make sneaking not as slow when roaming Cyrodiil (no I am not a vamp). I'd hoped for some balancing changes to come but honestly I've got used to playing my class and I do well enough in PvP to enjoy it.

Today I am quite grumpy that they have busted my movement speed, swapped a mildly useful armour passive for what I think will be a somewhat less useful one & not really taken any other steps to make the class competitive at the higher levels (i.e. a talented person from another class will statistically tend to beat a talented NB one on one in PvP).

It does sound like they have destroyed cloak but right now that is not going to impact me - I wish they'd take the brief period of time it would take for a dev to log in, equip Night's Silence and realise they had broken it - it took me all of 5 seconds to find out. Doesn't instill confidence.

Honestly, if you play a skirt and stick NB, good for you, you are not affected. I mostly run heals and do sieges so this only effects me if I decide to gank.

Regardless of what you might think, nightblades are meant to have some rogue elements. Hence the cornerstone ability of shadow cloak, which you are acting like people shouldn't use anyway. It's a primary ability, you don't have to use it, but for the love of god it should be functional. That is not asking for two much.

Yes you can slot bow, they just buffed bows to look like they were doing NBs a favor, which they aren't, it helps everyone, and sorcerers can do it all just as effectively.

Played a NB many months during PTS, early access, and hit VR10 pre-VR nerf.

I initially hit max level as a magicka based, medium armor, DW user and had no issues with the content. I actually thought it was easy and was disappointed when VR content was nerfed into the ground. I did all the quests, including the silver and gold quests, every delve, dungeon, and world boss, and completed a ton of achievements. A large portion of the normal PvE content was done solo.

I switched to robe and stick to do trials, but still run around with my twin daggers and medium armor a good bit when I solo.

Did PvP early on and my build was fun and effective. Haven't done PvP in a while because of other issues, but I'm starting to get the urge to go back.

Sure, there are some issues. Some skills have been bugged or not working as intended for more than a year. But, we're not the only class that has this problem.

Is NB as easy as a Destro staff wielding Dunmer DK? No, but that doesn't make it difficult.

I'm satisfied, but when they truly fix cloak, then I will be truly happy.

And, yes, sorcs can do it the same or better. I gank along side a sorc, so I am acutely and painfully aware. They never needed the now defunct nights silence to close in for a kill from stealth (you can BE in stealth, it just makes you detected for a sec at cast), and their abilities are all ranged, so there is no need to get to close to do their thing.

Me and him were actually laughing at the 'improvements' to stamina builds in relation to nightblades, as our class complains the loudest about it. All it does is leave us in the same relative space. And besides, I could already spam venom/poison arrow with my LA caster build if I wanted to burn some stamina.

I'm just going to comment, because your poll options are terrible. Seriously, just make a friggin neutral poll, not a slanted rant.

That said, I'm starting to suspect that NB will continue to be unsatisfactory until they implement the champ system, justice system, and Thieves and DB guilds.

In fact, I'm starting to suspect that this was more or less planned all along, to have NB be weak until they built guilds that would improve its function. By having NB be relatively weak for the entire first year, it kept it from becoming over-popular. I suspect that when those guilds come out, there will be a sudden rush of players building NB's, and keeping them weak until then is meant to buffer that rush.

Glad for you who plays spell-damage based NBs. Enjoy yourselves, but don't make up non-sense like the following:
NB isn't supposed to be a rogue anyways. I am (not) surprised that most people have never bothered to look up Elder Scrolls lore and see that NIGHTBLADES are casters.

Let's see. In skyrim there were no classes at all, so you already should understand why some TES fans are not very satisfied. In TES, if we don't like the path we chose - we can always play "another" class keeping all our progress. Now we can't, so we want our class to perform as good as others. And that includes the way we see our class too. Let's be honest, it's not players' fault that the class we chose and style we chose is sub par, so why should we be responsible for our blind choice? I had no idea that my class will be weak at level cap when I chose it and when I was leveling it. Anyways, that would be off topic, so let's go back to nightblades.

    In oblivion
Nightblades are effective assassins and enforcers. Their speed and skills allow them to easily reach places most others could not. Nightblades dispose of opponents with a quick blade and Destruction magic. They are also skilled in Alteration magic, and are proficient in healing themselves.
Assassins and enforcers. Blades are mentioned. We are also proficient in healing ourselves. Are we in ESO? I don't think so. Can't even compare to DKs or Templars or even Sorcs' surge. Yes, destruction magic is also mentioned. But it goes like blades AND destruction magic as some help. Anyways, assassins with blades is what we call a rogue, right? Right.
Moving further in past. In morrowind
Nightblades are spellcasters who use their magics to enhance mobility, concealment, and stealthy close combat. They have a sinister reputation, since many nightblades are thieves, enforcers, assassins, or covert agents.
They use their magic to enhance their concealment and close combat. They are somewhat casters, but they don't fight with magic. They use it. to. enhance. their.combat.
Finally and most importantly because you can't expect people to believe that everything will be according to TES series (if so, why our classes are restricted for starters?), in ESO we were promised that
Nightblades are adventurers and opportunists with a gift for getting in and out of trouble. Relying variously on stealth, blades, and speed, Nightblades thrive on conflict and misfortune, trusting to their luck and cunning to survive.
But my class doesn't do that. You see, in this description no one says a word about magic. If you read other 3 descriptions, you will see that all other classes are introduced as mages, but not Nightblades.

That being said, I will be much more satisfied when I can "rely on blades" and "rely on stealth" at the same time. Which means -- untie class skills from magicka. We should be able to play any build (magicka, stamina, hybrid), but still be able to use our class abilities just like all other builds. Because they are our CLASS abilities. We pick a class expecting that we can use its abilities. It's absurd that mages are better in using class skills of a class that relies on "blades and stealth".

p.s. you want us to feel some progress and class skills to scale from something? Make it scale from a sum of our resources. In this case, every build will have equal access to class skills and these skills will be more efficient for those who have better enchants/higher levels or veteran ranks.

In currend state of my nb, i can play it as caster, assassin, rogue, adventurer or what ever. Further, for me, i don`t need any lore discription to have fun with it.

Just because there is another bug in the current update (wich is confirmend, same with an upcoming fix), and many threads about the nb are got written, i don`t see any reason to start such an negativ written poll.

Why i call this poll negativ written? You asked in your titel, if we are satisfied with the currend state, but don`t give the option "Yes, I`am satisfied". Even more, you expect that only people who don`t play the nb can get the oppinion, "it`s ok".

My NB is top notch when it comes to single-target DPS. However, that means absolutely nothing when problems persist since launch.

The only thing they seem to get right is nerfing. It's amazing how nerfs never miss, but fixes often miss.

I love this game really and NB is a lot of fun to play, but this is a bit ridiculous.

I feel even worse for all of those NB Vamps who were using Night's Silence, not only did they change Night's Silence to find a loophole for sneak speed "stacking", however the set doesn't even work.

How they manage to have a NEAR-perfect track record for nerfing but not even close for implementing fixes, baffles me.

NBs are the single best dd for endgame PvE content.

NBs have builds that will work for different playstyles in PvP. Best ganker, very strong mage, strong sustain, 1vs1 varies a lot depending on build and situation - as it does for pretty much every other class except bathrobe and stick DKs.

There are problems with some skills still and after several attempts at fixing Dark Cloak they argueably made it worse again, which is shameful tbh. And not every build will work equally well for every purpose.

These issues are hardly unique to Nbs though ( excluding the bathrobe and stick DKs again ) and certainly do not warrant the constant whining across multiple threads and forums.

Yet another poll with crappy choices.

Where is the option to say yes without some sort of snide remark about closing the thread?

Anyhow, yes (for the most part). There is still some tinkering that needs to be done to a few skills and obviously fixing Shadow Cloak.

I have several builds I swap between on my NB: stamina dps bow, Tank, and Healer and everything I use works great for those. I can see how someone that wants to shadowcloak constantly in pvp would be irritated by the problems though.

Aside from that, I still think they need to work on stuff like: Soul Harvest - a pretty much useless ultimate since the nerf a couple patches ago. Refreshing path - works better since buff, but still not worth slotting on bar most of the time over anything else. Prolonged Suffering - one of the few CCs in the game that ends as soon as you take damage making it useless 9 times out of 10. Cripple - Not that great, could be an AoE cone at least like the sorc CC (esp since it's not even a CC). Compared to what the class was at launch (which was like the devs considered it an afterthought) it's much better than it was.

1.Single best dd? In LA+stick? And what's their dps? I saw a DK doing 2.5k single target.
What about physical damage NBs? We were promised, that what they will be good at.
    2. Who are they best gankers? Sorcs' burst damage from stealth is higher. They can retreat easier and reliably. WHat makes NBs best gankers?
Strong mage ok. Strong sustain? How? 1v1? You will never kill a Templar 1v1, for example.
So far I agree that they might be okay mages (then again, are they as good as others?). Does it mean that their current state is satisfying everyone? Not at all.

It's great for those of you who play a dress and stick wearer, or even a bow wielder since that got a pretty big bump this patch. I am personally a dress and stick wearer myself, and I haven't ganked much recently, which is when I am more melee focused, so these bugs have less of an effect on me.

But the inability to empathize because you can use the same set up that every other min/maxer uses and succeed (even if it's to a lesser extent,) is a little depressing.

The very core of the class is broken and has been since launch. I am not talking about useless abilities that work, because every class has those. The synergy for NBs alone is abysmal. Our cc is awful, we draw from a very weird hybrid of stats, I need high magicka but also high weapon damage. And that's ignoring the fact that cloak, our cornerstone ability regardless of whether you personally use it or not, is broken and works less effectively for escape than something craftable that everyone can use.

That's really not even an extensive list of complaints, the sheer scope of the brokenness that is nightblades is oftentimes difficult to grasp. Yes many of us have learned to adapt, we have adjusted our play style and found things that work, but it does not change the fact that there is a problem in the first place.

Personally, I run heals. I don't even do dps unless I am ganking. I felt ineffective and useless as a dps, especially as a nightblade. I played a NB to dps, to be a stealthy rogue assassin. I have no problem being magicka based, (though I'd prefer stamina.)

You can pretend like that's not what NBs are all about, and you can certainly play differently, but NBs have always been the stealthy assassin type, a mix of magic and melee. It's perfectly fine if you want to play differently, but it's a little unreasonable to expect the rest of us to shelve our playstyle, when it is the core of the class.

Are you asking us after they just broke things like stealth and our cloak more, or just asking in general with how they play? Seems odd to release a poll when you can expect almost every nightblade player will have at least 1-2 critical complaints about X/Y function not working as expected. Am I happy with the broken abilities? No. Do I enjoy the overall play-style of my nightblade (who is not a light armor/stick user) - yes.
