The problem is that like our troll above showed that these type of things wont be optional at all.
It will be like with TS, if you don't use it you are insulted and kicked from groups by the Elitists.
I see the same coming with bubbles, good luck trying to stay in a group if you don't use them - it will be a nightmare.
No one can force you to play their way. You are free to make your own group to play how you want, just as they are and should be free to play how they want to.
A pug is nobody's group. Its a group that comes from the LFG tool.

A PUG means a non-guild group or one formed from zone chat, actually, in normal MMO parlance. If you dislike playing how most people want to play, then you can form your own group... if most group-finder parties you're ending up in are asking you to play how they want, you're probably in the minority. Why do you feel it is fair to ask everyone to play your way, but never let them play theirs?

Nameplates were too and already in during beta. What's the issue as far as dev time there, then? RP'ers want chat bubbles, pvp/pve'ers want nameplates. What's wrong with both?

If someone is using the LFG tool and this is what matters here as I don't care what someone does in his guild or in a chat group that he opens, then he or she has a right to play there.
The tool doesn't demand that you have a DPS meter installed, that you have TS or chat bubbles enabled. Its a free tool for everyone so everyone should be allowed to use it and play.
That whole "I kick you if you don't" is childish and doesn't belong to a healthy and mature community.
What is wrong with people that demand that even those in a pug must follow their rules? Why cant they just accept that the others don't want to play like that?
Do you get kicked if you enable chat bubbles or talk to someone in TS while you play? No you don't, so just take it easy and stop harassing other gamers who are not following your rules.
Sorry but I get so angry about people like you that dictate how others have to play. Its rude and disrespectful. There is something called a "guild" if you want to rule over others then please create one

No argument from me there. In fact, to me, Nameplates are more important than chat bubbles, but as far as UI/social improvements go, I'll take what I can get. This is at least something to help with the dismal, anonymous-feeling atmosphere.
My only worry is that somehow this will be seen as enough of an improvement, and we won't see nameplates any time soon.

Ts doesn't identify who is who especially in pugs so yep if they refused to communicate with the feature i would boot them from raid and tell them to go quest and enjoy their immersion and clean ui
Ever been to a big RP party in ESO? It's principally people standing around using /say. THAT's a huge immersion breaker for me - the fact that the game has graphics, but most of the people at the party aren't using them!smeeprocketnub19_ESO wrote: »Why would RP'rs want chat bubbles? For those who obviously do not bother to read entire post threads before posting:
1. Yes devs have mentioned they may consider chat bubbles ... in the future.
2. YES THEY WILL BE ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF!!! Stop saying no to the idea. You are simply being ignorant and wanting to deny what MANY players want. There will be an option and likely turned off by default as it may be a performance hit. If an option can be turned off ... IT DOES NOT IMPACT YOU!
3. It is very much an RP tool for those who want it. You may have a different stance. Your stance is not the only stance.

I've seen ZOS posts confirming that chat bubbles are coming, but I haven't seen any that confirm whether they will be something that can be turned off. Having said that, it's a reasonable assumption to make, especially considering the ZOS philosophy towards immersion and minimal UI. I'll be very surprised (and upset) if they implement chat bubbles without the option to turn them off.2. YES THEY WILL BE ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF!!! Stop saying no to the idea. That's a good point. I don't want to see chat bubbles, and I don't want to see nameplates (and when I say I don't want to see them I mean that I want them turned off in my own UI - I'm not opposed to the idea of them being in ESO for people who want them), but it seems to me that they should go hand in hand. If they're going to implement chat bubbles, they should really come with nameplates.Attorneyatlawl wrote: »How will you know who is speaking with no nametags? All you'll see is various bubbles floating above 10+ other people in a crowd, for example. I'm not saying this in any sarcastic manner; I'm honestly curious as to the line of thought I have seen there from some people. Name/guild tags are a huge social feature in RP as well by all accounts in other games, since it's not like you're going to recognize someone's face as you do in real life.
