Do We Really Need to Confirm Email Deletion?

It's not so much the extra key click, as its totally unneeded. When an email has attachments, delete is not an option. So why do you need a confirmation? Also don't emails auto delete after 30 days?

I agree with others about the detailed sales summary email and how reply functionality would have been great improvements to the mail system.

To be fair, I would assume/hope non-replaceable disguises are pretty much at the very bottom of things you would want to destroy to make room for random drop 1302.

I think I'm fairly fine with trophies/pets/disguises having something like that implemented.

True, but those should be Quest Items if they can't be replaced and are needed for a quest.

However, Disguises, Trophies, Pets and just about anything else I can't use in the game to be successful are destroyed sooner or later. No room at the bank or the bag to carry these around. But, that is another discussion for another thread.

I found out that I was one of the only ones not affected by this.. So I accidentally found out my Guild Mail add on I used to mail my guildies was canceling the "Are you sure" box so all I only have to press x as usually. Download the add on if you want a quick fix.

It's one thing to use an addon to enhance an aspect of the game, or modify the UI to give more information than normal, I call it customizing the game. But to have to use an Addon to fix something that was broken in an attempt to fix something that was not broken in the first place is just going to far.

I do agree, Im not a fan of forced things with no options, I've complained about PVP notifications for a long time, I want to disable them.

I'm just stating I found out that my add on fixes it, and does disable the extra step.

Was there some thing in the text of the email that is so important that we need to be sure of ourselves before we delete it?

That's why I'm not getting the confirmations. MailR for those curious what addon it is.

I thought I was bugged and didn't dare speak of it.

Yea, Im glad it works, kills two birds one stone as I need it for my guild. But after realizing the complaints in game I figured my add on was the reason.

I was speaking to the issue that ZOS created something, that no one asked for, that requires an Addon to remove. All the other addons I have or have seen are more of the, give me some extra information in this format, or show me some more information on the screen or help me keep track of my research or make handling my inventory easier type of addons.

Now I have to get an addon that I have no other use for, as I don't send out mass emails to guildies, to remove something that was added that helps no one with the problem it was meant to solve that was not a problem to begin with.

MailR also gives you a forward and reply button.

Is it then the guild mailing version that does this, or does regular MailR do it?

Either way, MailR is sort of a necessity.

I just read the description of the addon. The original mention to this was someone referring to emailing guildies and the email functions are not good for that, as in mailing all of them at once. So I did not know if it was just for that.

There are two versions of this, one for Guilding and one for regular mail. It would be nice to know if both or just one version fixes this.

Then again, I am getting up near double digits on addons now, much more than I wanted to have initially.

Hmm with the MailR add-on that I use (it saves sent mail, allows you to bind Reply, Forward, etc..) I don't get that extra prompt. THANKFULLY! :grinning:

There was only one person I was in regular email correspondence with, so no need really. Her name was unique enough that I could type in two letters and it would pop up in the box.

One of the benefits of playing antisocial is not having emails to deal with. If I could just get my hirelings to make deposits in the bank for me, I would not even check emails.

Instead of adding this, they should have added a "Reply" option to the mails.
    THAT would have been useful.

QFT. This is apparently the Zenimax MO. Address things that don't need to be addressed and don't address the things that do.

Don't add a reply option but do make handling mail more time consuming and annoying. Why not add another "are you sure you are sure?" prompt just in case? There can never be too many prompts to sort through on your 50 in-game mails.

Don't make being in a single guild viable but do have annoying notifications for guild events that can't be turned off so you get never ending notifications from all your trade guilds that you don't care about. Nothing like game sponsored spam!

Don't address serious class issues but do cave to whiners and nerf the Night Silence set even though it has no effect whatsoever on combat or balance other than the serious disadvantage anyone will be at with that setup. God forbid we have any diversity or fun!

Don't make small trading guilds viable but do create a convoluted trading system that allows large guilds to ensure small trading guilds are never viable. Wal-Mart would be proud.

Incidentally, RaidAway is what you want to remove those trial notifications and optionally, the notifications that people on your friends list have logged on or off.

First, I did not vote because there was no "I really don't care either way"... I can see both sides, I have deleted mail from friends accidentally, but I also find the extra click a bit annoying (not a "Hate" level event).

My suggestion would be to only have the confirmation on mail sent by players, not the automated ones (Hirelings, PvP, Return to sender and so on), with the prohibition on deleting mail with attachments, the automated mails have no value once the attachments are removed. Personal mail from friends is another thing entirely, the few words on them may have more value then all the hireling mail for the last week, but that note from a friend has only a 3 day lifespan (unless it has an attachment).

I think I would rather have a "Keep" button available for those personal notes then a conformation button to delete the spam.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Ahem. Confirmation, you say. Did anyone really complain about it? They must have, but I don't understand why, we couldn't delete attachements even on purpose, let alone accidentally. A pointless change. I shall download that mail add-on right away.

Where is the option to turn that off, every other game I've ever played had that so I could actually utilize my God given right to stupidity if I choose not to be careful. Irking me totally as it assumes that I'm stupidly deleting emails even when they are empty.

Thanks for assuming I'm mentally deficient in some way Z. Maybe I should start assuming you will never be able to fix the omnipresent game dysfunctions (this, lack of workable auction, no housing, ridiculously exponentially expensive space price, same stupid high price for mounts, I can go on) and just cancel the subscription and stop paying you for your failings.

I already went into game to confirm you still can't delete mails with items as X isn't an option. Only after removing attachments does X show up. Clearly the game knows you have removed any attachments. How come Z devs don't?

Is this some sort of set up for spam emails that force us to open and read something to be able to delete it? Social programming is so dumb. Fix this NOW. It wasn't broken before.

Get an add-on to fix the fix for something that wasn't broken in the first place?

I may be joining the add-on's make for lazy development team here :/

If it can't be removed, at least make an ingame toggle, not force people to DL additional junk and have to keep up updating it just because obviously only a small minority want/need it.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

OK, after a couple of days and about 60 emails I thought maybe I would get used to this.

Nope it still irritates me each and every time I have to confirm the delete. It's not the extra key mash so much, it's the fact that this extra key mash does nothing for me. There is no benefit to confirming a deletion of an email after the attachments are removed. None at all.

I really hope this cut down on the Customer Service Que, because this new "feature" is only of benefit to them.

When you get hirelings plus large amounts of PvP rewards, it was already incredibly annoying to go through mails. Now there's another step. Not being able to delete something with an attachment is plenty. For other mails, just be careful and you won't delete a message you want to save, not that hard.

Ah 2014. I suppose hitting E to take the attachment, X to delete and E to confirm delete is too much work. Incoming carpal tunnel! Maybe one of those attachments is legendary mats that you really worked hard for.

It gets quite old when you have tons of them, especially for PvPers that get lots of reward mails. And you can't delete a mail with an attachment, unless they replaced that with the extra prompt.

    It's a bit bonkers really.
Previously I couldn't delete a mail which had stuff attached to it, that's a good thing, stopped me deleting my hireling mails without taking the stuff into my inventory when half asleep.
Now I have to press an extra key to delete every mail. My mailbox fills up twice a day (for crying out loud, can we not have slightly larger mailboxes? Sometimes when I am playing I feel like I am at work trying to manage an over-full email inbox!) with hireling mails and item sold mails and item purchased mails and guild mails.

I don't need to confirm a deletion (as long as it stays so that a mail with stuff attached cannot be deleted). What I need is a REPLY BUTTON.
