A compiled list of issues with PvP in Cyrodiil (feel free to add to the list!)

Hey guys, I thought i'd go ahead and post a list of the issues I currently have with PvP in Cyrodiil.

I am a DK so some the issues here reflect that. But feel free to add in any issues YOU guys have with the PvP system in Cyrodiil as well. Then after that I will add those issues to the list. I want others to participate because as I said, I am a DK so I do not have much knowledge about the issues some other classes may have.


1. Cyrodiil lag

2. Postern doors not working at times.

3. Keep doors not responding, but may if you swap weapons.

4. You should not be able to use a siege weapon if you are in it’s targeted aoe.

5. Siege weapons will sometimes be unresponsive if you place one, ultimately wasting it.

6. Streak. I’ll leave it at that.

7. Sometimes if you fall from the wall in a keep and you land outside against that wall, you can get stuck in the wall. There is only a certain spot, but I can recreate this issue at will (and by mistake :neutral_face: )

8. Stampede and other charge abilities will sometimes cause you to stay locked in that animation for about 20 seconds, without hitting anything. While this is happening you can still move around, but at the same time you are vulnerable to all incoming damage. To escape this, find something you can interact with like a resource.

9. Stacking shields, I won’t elaborate. You wanna know more then do some research on it.

10. The same applies for stacking set bonuses.

11. Seemingly constant crashing in Cyrodiil, no matter what settings are used. No add ons used either.

12. Trying to log in immediately after crashing can cause the loading screen to lock up, forcing you to quit the game yet again and try to login again.

13. Tent mechanics are cool, but you shouldn’t need to kill yourself to use one. I’m sure ZoS can figure out a way around this.

14. Do I really need to be on top of someone in order to see them in stealth mode (without magelight)? It seems like I need to be within 1 meter in order to spot them. How about 5 meters instead? Even if you yourself are in stealth mode and you are using magelight, you can still be spotted first before you spot the enemy. The system is wonky to say the least. Perhaps make the enemies’ opacity increase as you get closer?

15. Sorcerers seem to never run out of magicka. And if they do then they can just teleport away and refill it at the cost of stamina. The damage their spells do also are not appropriate for the minimal magicka they use. They have too much maneuverability and options, and not enough ways to counter it across all the other classes.

16. Fire ring spam. Yeah it’s related to #15 but honestly, either make it cost more magicka or deal considerably less damage.

17. Getting hit for 1050 damage by Funnel Health should not be possible. Normally i’m hit around 440 (already insane), but sometimes I get hit over 1000.

18. Vampires pump out way too much damage for minimal cost, especially vamp sorcerers. Yeah they are weak against fire, but this doesn’t even come close to balancing the issue.

19. Farming ultimate from spamming aoe is ridiculous. Cap the amount of ultimate that can be gained with a given attack, no matter how many players are there.

20. Block-casting. Just….. no. Except for abilities that use the shield as an offense of course.

21. Devouring Swarm doing nearly 1700 damage is ridiculous. As an aoe ultimate, that needs to be cut down at least by half.

22. Stop forcing DKs to go stick mode in order to survive more. It’s a tank class so don’t make it go the caster’s route. This makes the game seem more like Elder Sorcs Online, no matter what class you actually are.

23. Sharpened trait is broken.

24. So what’s the point of having Spell resistance maxed if your opponents can just as easily get maxed Spell penetration? The benefits of penetration need to be lowered considerably.

25. This goes for armor as well.

26. Why does it seem like Soul Assault will sometimes do barely any damage? No shields on the opponent, opponent has 3200 health, Soul Assault does 2960 for me. So why then do they seem to only lose 10% of their health. Even when not blocking at times. Still blocking shouldn’t reduce that damage so considerably. And if it does, their stamina should definitely take a beating for repelling so much damage.

27. Being stun locked by streak? At the same time taking 350+ damage? What? And don’t say you can just roll away or break free, because you can only do so maybe 4 times before you are out of stamina, while the streaker can cast perhaps 9 streaks. Not to mention streak away and replenish magicka within 5 seconds.

28. People seem to be able to block forever. Stamina needs to drop based on damage blocked.

29. Sometimes Stampede or Invasion can cause you to get stuck in a wall. If this happens, you are forced to do /stuck.

30. Sorry, but if a DK is stealth attacked by a NB, and the DK is heavy armored with nearly 3000 armor and 3400 health. That DK should not be killed before he can even break CC.

31. “You are currently engaged in combat.” UMMM no i’m not, let me ride my friggen horse.

32. The way postern doorways take damage needs to be fixed. If i’m attacking the door with a ballista, I expect to see damage done. I shouldn’t have to point to a certain part of the wall around the door in order to bust it down.

33. Scenario: Ballista is in place. Teammate comes along and puts an oil pot next to you to help repel invaders. Fair enough, but tell me why as soon as my ballista dies, I cannot place another one because that oil pot is too close? So what then, oil pots can be put near siege, but siege cannot be put near oil pots. wut…

34. Radiant Light should allow the caster to be resistant to Stealth attacks as well, not just allies. Isn’t the caster in the light too? Yes, yes he/she is.

35. My life bar seems to lie to me at times. I’ll appear to have enough health, let’s say I’ll have 75% remaining. It will stay that way for a while, then a flood of spell animations and/or attacks will overwhelm my character and i’ll be dead. But here’s the thing, the damage done to me at that moment wasn’t even close to the amount of health i appeared to have remaining.

36. Not a serious issue, but it would be helpful to see elemental resistances as a stat in the character window, much like spell resistance.

37. It would also be helpful to have your UI show your de-buffs as well as your buffs (without add-ons).

38. Sometimes I'll be blocking, but then the game will decide i shouldn't block anymore and so my shield drops... even though I never did let go of the block button.

39. It feels like roll-dodging in PvP decides to work whenever it feels like it. Why does it seem like I chain-roll dodge and i'm still hit by a ton of attacks?

40. Bow range should be increased, especially with particular skills:
Bow ranges are ridiculously short. Drain shot only works at about 2 meters, yet snipe is around 30. The AoE shots with bow can't even reach the ground when you're on a wall. What's with that? (All my bow skills are maxed so it's not a leveling issue.) I'll be on the 1st level of a keep and I might be able to shoot right at the base of the wall. That's it (depending on the keep). Some keeps you can get out to maybe 5 meters from the base. If I can snipe 30 meters from the wall I should be able to shoot any arrow out that far. Bows should have the largest range of any weapon or spell ability. It shouldn't be limited like it is for some shots and not others. I'd wouldn't mind a decreased damage at very large ranges, but being on a wall and not being able to rain arrows down and getting hit with mage spells from outside my bow range is just stupid.


41. Streak bug:
Let me add the streak bug, where you wont get teleported anymore until you relog. stun and damage still work, but you stay in place.

42. Immovable skill is lasting much longer than it should in some cases:
I love how everyone in pvp is apparently 24/7 "immovable" when its a 8 second skill time. Must be nice to somehow never be knocked down with a skill that needs to be cast every 8 seconds. Must be REALLY nice to have it working when stealth attacked in the middle of no where on a horse while you have been riding for more then 8 seconds as well.

43. Faction icons are not displaying properly from a distance:

Next thing is the lag, especially the input lag. I bet everyone knows that. You have to press a key like 3 or 4 times for a skill to fire or wait 1-2 seconds for your weapon to swap. Or ultimates that just wont go off, no matter what you do. Things like that cause death in pvp.

45. Vampire Mist Form exploit. Annoying and not the intended use for it.

46. It would help to see who is in your area and/or identify those around you without needing to hover over each person individually:
Lack of nameplates and guild tags make it needlessly annoying and difficult to organize groups efficiently, as well as make name recognition and guild pride nearly non-existent :(.

47. Blazing Shield exploit... the way the skill mechanics works may need to be revised in order to counter the exploit that allows some players to store and deliver insane amounts of damage.

48. Depending on how you position a ballista, the projectile will sometimes bug out immediately and not hit anything. This is especially noticeable when trying to fire from over certain areas of a keep's wall.

49. Two enemies vs you. One is a Vampire. Vampire uses Feed on you and makes you helpless to do anything. You cannot roll-dodge, you cannot break free, you cannot do a friggen thing about it. And all you get to do is watch your character float in the air as the other enemy casts ability after ability on you until you die. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? Make it possible to escape Feed...

    I'm floored. This list is very, very legit. You have obviously played a lot of PVP.

    Here are the ones I want to highlight:
    Stealth system- yes, it is true that YOU HAVE TO BE WITHIN 1 METER OF SOMEONE TO SEE THEM. This is ridiculously stupid. If I just attacked you and am looking right at you, how in the world can you just duck down and disappear? I know there are invisibility pots and the nightblade invisibility ability, but this happens way, way, way more often than makes sense for these two things to be the cause of this.

    Shield stacking needs to be eliminated. The stronger shield should apply if you try to apply more than one at once. Also, I think there needs to be a 2 second "cooldown" period where a shield costs double mana after breaking. I only play a Sorc, and this is getting ridiculous. Also, the "sorcerers never run out of magica" is caused by a shield stacking exploit.

    The constant crashes were introduced with the weapon swapping patch. I really, really hope this is being looked at. I can't decide what's worse- the perma 5 fps bug or the crash bug.

    Perma-block needs to be looked at. I do like the idea of losing more stamina based on damage. This change would be devastating in PVE, but in PVP it would work quite well. Something needs to be done about it.

    Block casting. The strongest 1v1 sorc build uses block casting + perma block with 1hand/shield. Hold block, do curse and fury until fragments procs, hope for a good knockdown, if not, just repeat curse and fury. You take almost no damage because of the 1h/s passives and possible set bonuses. If you lose some health, you pop a single ward which gives you an extra 1500 damage mitigation for 200 magicka.

    I agree with much of what you said, but you clearly have a biased towards your DK class. One place in particular is where you suggest that the stealth radius be changed. A nightblades number one tool is their stealth. If we do not have that we are dead (talking a traditional nightblade, not a tanky one). Suggesting the stealth radius be changed is akin to suggesting that a templar loses its power to heal.

    This is why I want everyone of all classes to add what issues THEY have as well. I want people to include their own templar, sorc, and nightblade biased issues too. That way we can compare and contrast each of them in one place and see what's really going on.

    People act like saying things help. I dont see things being fixed and I dont see pvp as anything but a hunk of unbalanced mess.

    Wont be fixed for ages or at all. Why? Because people dont listen and a majority like it broken anyways.

    2. Silver Bolts and its morphs are supposed to knock down undead enemies. That rarely seems to happen, if at all, against the massive population of player vampires.

    Not 100% sure but block stops that I believe... even if a vamp. Designed so well.

    Silver bolts works good, but if you find a vampire using immovable the knockback doesn't work.

    I never see people cast this yet EVERYONE has it on.

    Not apparently, it is really usefull, expecially against crystal shard spamming sorcs, and all the others sources of knockback.I usually use it a couple of time, but it depends vs who i'm fighting.

    I love these bulleted posts, they look like those "landing page" internet sites that bomb you with a "call to action" (repeating a marketing message every 2-3 sentences). In this case every 3-4 points there's a "nerf sorcs" payload message.

    Not the slightest consideration to the fact PvP in this game is crap and PvE (questing, 4 men and trials) is where most gamers are at.
    Outside PvP sorcs are "the other disposable class" (besides templars), their AoE ring is their only saving grace (and other classes can even outdo them at their specialty!), they come with inferior healing that does not earn them a spot in end game and their inferior DPS does not earn them more than 2 spots in trials (and ONLY because of AoE silence, NOT for anything else).
    Now that "alternate" ways involving (even more!) DKs have been found, sorcs are not even needed in half the encounters where the AoE silence was considered necessary.
    We have got to a point where if there are not 4-6 NBs (but there are 4-6 sorcs available), trial groups get cancelled, because not overgeared sorcs alone can't pump the DPS required for "DPS check" encounters.


    And what we got here? The exact SWTOR situation, where classes were nerfed due to PvP reasons and became dead weight in the rest of the game.

    Do we have to go down the same path again? Because we have seen how SWTOR has ended: an ugly F2P cash grab.

    i do not agree with your personal opinion on nerfing other classes. this really gets old. Not saying anything against you mate, but a class that mostly relies on invasion, talons, flame lash over and over again, and that can stunlock you the entire fight, should not ask for other classes to get nerfed.

    All the rest is true and i'm glad that you noticed all the stuff that is bugging me as well. Things like the animation glitch with stampede or invasion or the stuck in the wall bug really cost lives.

    I really don't think the classes with their builds and tactics are a problem at all. I know everyone likes blaming other classes for being op, but i think no class is op. It is all just a matter of learning how to fight or counter each class. Since i've realized how other classes work, my pvp experience changed, cause now i can have good long fights with every class and the loser is not the one with the "weaker" class, it's the one that makes the most mistakes.

    I would say: leave the classes the way they are, but definitely make pvp something everyone can enjoy by eliminating all the bugs and lags.

    One thing that really gets me mad everyday is the fact that despite having a super fast gaming laptop, my fps drop down to 10-13 in a large battle. For a smooth experience i would need 30-40 fps. That means i'm missing 66-70% of the stuff that is happening. Outside the battles my fps are usually around 60-99. That is quite a difference.

    22: Disagree - I'm 7/7 heavy 1h-s DK and I find my survivability fine. The problem is some of the imbalances with magicka builds have knock on effects that influence a lot of aspects. One needs to be careful not to separate certain imbalances that are actually caused by one issue which is the root.

    This is one of the main reasons why I stopped PvP. I found keep sieges to be the most fun part of PvP.
    At keep sieges, you are NOT just a little peeble sitting there waiting for the zerg to roll him over, you can make a difference (expecially on defense) and feel the kills rolling if you are good enough (situation awareness is king when you are exposed to everybody).

    But unlike other PvP games, in ESO keeps are vastly too huge, you are placed so high that you are hard to reach and in turn, when defending, you have an hard time picking people in your range. Does not help the crappy at best targetting system, that decides by itself who to shoot at (not the almost dead guy but because you moved aim by 1 pixel, now you only snap-auto-lock hit the 6k healthy tank).

    Also, the massive travel distance between keeps puts everybody into some travelling zerg for the most time.

    Hey guys, I thought i'd go ahead and post a list of the issues I currently have with PvP in Cyrodiil.

    I am a DK so some the issues here reflect that. But feel free to add in any issues YOU guys have with the PvP system in Cyrodiil as well. Then after that I will add those issues to the list. I want others to participate because as I said, I am a DK so I do not have much knowledge about the issues some other classes may have.

    Shield stacking is the only way a sorcerer or nb can maintain themselves since they do not have instant heals like Templar's and DK's. Also understand that sorcerers only have 1 class specific shield meaning that shield stacking is possible for all classes, you have to see it as their way of healing and tbh I would much rather have a instant heal over the shield as you have to wait for the shield to be utilized or wear off in order to refresh it to full which as I said I would prefer an instant heal. If you want this mechanic removed then Zos will need to give both classes some other ability to sustain themselves in pvp which I don't think zos will do since they have enough on their plate with many other more important fixes to be addressed.

    If you are running Windows open up your Task Manager and set the ESO client priority to "HIGH" and reduce your addon's to around 15 or so and that should resolve your problem. Also make sure your addon's are up to date.

    Stealth is kinda broken for everyone not just NB's and really needs an overhaul imo.

    You apparently don't know much about Vampires. They do not increase a sorcerer or any class for that matter, damage output. The skill line has some nice pro's but at a harsh cost. If Vampires are giving u that much trouble then pick up the Fighters Guild skill line and L2P.

    lol the more I read of these fixes the more I see u have little real experience with the game sorry to say. There is an AOE cap of 6 players on aoe attacks which also caps out ultimate gained per attack. After reading this one I'm afraid to continue but I will I guess.

    Light Armor is getting a huge nerf with Patch 1.4 reducing spell pen from 42% down to 28% but unfortunately according to some of the testers thread of PTS spell pen and sharpened are not functioning as they should. I don't have enough info about the problems to state it here.

    Bow ranges are ridiculously short. Drain shot only works at about 2 meters, yet snipe is around 30. The AoE shots with bow can't even reach the ground when you're on a wall. What's with that? (All my bow skills are maxed so it's not a leveling issue.) I'll be on the 1st level of a keep and I might be able to shoot right at the base of the wall. That's it (depending on the keep). Some keeps you can get out to maybe 5 meters from the base. If I can snipe 30 meters from the wall I should be able to shoot any arrow out that far. Bows should have the largest range of any weapon or spell ability. It shouldn't be limited like it is for some shots and not others. I'd wouldn't mind a decreased damage at very large ranges, but being on a wall and not being able to rain arrows down and getting hit with mage spells from outside my bow range is just stupid.
    I haven't used any bow abilities so no comment.

Must be REALLY nice to have it working when stealth attacked in the middle of no where on a horse while you have been riding for more then 8 seconds as well.
    It's possible that there may be an exploit with Immovable, tbh I don't really know. But I use it and can spam it because I have enough stam regen to do so. By the time Immov wears off my stam has already regen so it's almost free but again u have to spec for this in your build it isn't exactly free.

    Yep thats why I don't zerg. To be perfectly blunt the whole Megaserver tech that Zos developed doesn't work.

    Why? It puts you in melee range, where generally you are just as vulnerable as your target (especially in PvP since most sorcs who complain about this are surrounded by stealthed bankers just waiting to surround a melee range target), and simply helps balance the op bolt escape/infinite mama bullcrap.
