Only missing Imperial motif - how much should I save up for it?

Hi all,

Pretty much everything is in the title. I got all blue motifs from drops apart from a couple I got from my guild stores, got one purple in a drop and the others for about 20k-30k in random guild kiosks and now I'm now only missing the imperial one.

Though I think the prices I've seen so far in zone chat and kiosks are way too high, I don't really wanna wait to long to acquire it because the way I see it, when JS kicks in, people are gonna have a lot harder time to do log farming so motifs and recipes prices are gonna suffer a big increase IMO.

So how much should I save up for it? At what point do I get ripped off?

Really? Most of the time they were 100-150k which is ridiculous. I suppose I can survive forking out 50k for it, if I can find it at that price

Wouldn't pay more than 50k for it. They swapped the drop rate for purple recipes and motifs from anecdotal evidence so they are becoming rarer, but anyone trying to sell to you for more than that is just gouging.

You might occasionally get the odd opportunist trying to sell it for over 100,000 gold, but I've seen them go for between 50,000 -100,000; I wouldn't pay anymore than that.

No, but if your only interest is crafting imperial armour for yourself or as a crafter, then the imperial edition would be an effective way to do this + you get some other stuff. If you want the achievement though (which I didn't know existed until now... crafting bores me into Oblivion) then you are correct!

The achievement is for knowing all styles. You can not read style books you know but should still get it unless its a bug stopping everyone with imperial edition from getting it.

Well, someone with the imperial edition was saying (in a thread on these forums) that there is a bug that stops them getting the achievement (which is how I know about it). They can't read the book (because they know the style) but the imperial motif is still greyed out in the achievement.

I've been playing an Imperial since launch and have the achievement for knowing all the motifs. They automatically know it since it is their racial motif and it counts towards the achievement even if you haven't read the motif book.

Achievements aside, buying the Imperial edition is still not a very useful suggestion, as it only works if you want to start over with leveling an Imperial race character as your crafter. If you already have your crafter leveled, buying the IE gains you nothing.

Sure, you can convert to the Imperial style, but that's useless for making crafted gear for others, since items get account-bound when you convert them.

It might just be that one guy then (or a few people) who are having an issue with it.

I haven't been chasing achievements, which is why I don't have the rare motifs, apart from imperial on one character (I got lucky).

Ok so its an bug however rare, might be if you update from standard to imperial or other unusual issues.

Was checking prices at lunch time at the kiosks in Rift. Lowest price was 85k and up to 125k. I know it's rare but come on...

    Even purple one weren't under 60k -_-

This is where the gold selling sites hurt everyone because the players using these sites buy for these absurd prices and it ruins it for all us normal peeps. My point being I guess is to do what you can in reporting bots and spammers and whatever else you can think of...

I know there is more to it than this^ but it's just a small point to make.

Oh, I hope you find the motif you are looking for in a chest on your own, good luck!

Imperial has been the only rare motif I've found (on a character that was level 3 at the time...). Go figure.

I think you have to have the imperial edition and actually be playing an imperial character to have it count as far as I can see as my main has credit for it although is not even allowed to 'use' the one imperial motif I found.

I was lucky enough to grab one before they changed it to yellow status, which shot the price back up. I paid 15k for mine just two weeks prior to that change. Now, 50k appears to be the norm, and that's only when I actually see people selling motifs. It almost never happens. I haven't seen an ad for them in a couple of weeks, and I haven't looted one in a month. I think motifs are dead. :p

I found imperial and reach just after they fixed the empty container bug, did not find anymore until I moved to the second veteran zone where I found three the last month in 1.3, two daeric and one ancient elf, no hard farming but I always check containers in houses I'm in and sometime check good houses I pass.

Plenty of people selling motifs in the khajiit trading post in reaper marsh, I traded my second daeric to primal on first try.

Considering even Zeni call it 'The Rare Motif', i'd say about half a years worth of gold should get you an opening offer....it's only gonna go up as more people stop farming for them as their is only 4 of them worth any gold now and you gotta be VR1 before you have any chance of getting a drop.

There does seem to be a cycle to the drops though, at the moment rare motifs are down for me and purple recipies are falling out my pockets.
Being First is not the prize, it just mean's everyone can stab you in the back.

If you look hard enough you will find someone that is not aware that the value of these has shifted drastically. I see people in my trade guild swearing to all they hold holy that these are only worth 20k-50k every day. I know a guy that has made over 300k buying motifs off of the uninformed and reselling them.

I get the Imperial motif scarcity given the imperial account (which I bought). But all the others just play out like Europe after WW2, in the hands of spivs (look it up or watch Dad's Army or Orson Welles' The Third Man). Unnerf cuckoo clocks again plz, like you did before. Go on. Make your game enjoyable. I dare you.

I agree 50 - 70k would not go any higher. It's easier to find one for yourself. If you don't you will have enough recipes to buy one within a week if you farm 1 a day.
