How could I text spam without touching Massage or chat panel?

I played ESO a couple of hour ago, after playing a couple of hour I logged out, then came back with other Character, had huge lag and kicked to Login Screen with Error Code 318, according to Error I was spamming with text, But with out touching Massage or Chat panel how could I text spam? Try to talk to in-game Technical support but no one responded. Again I logged in after 30 mins after 10-15 mins again had Lag and kicked to Login Screen. Why this happening to me and why?

Do you have an addon like BankManager or BankIt? Their logs display in the chat, and while you are the only one who can see it, I think it still counts as "messages".

I had that happen once (I use BankManager) and when I switched the AddOn to "summary" I didn't have that problem anymore.

Basically, here's what happened...

You were doing something in the game (not chatting) that built up a series of actions in a queue. You had a lag problem where that queue was not communicating with the server. When the connection was restored, the queue was executed and the buildup of commands was interpreted by the server as 'spam'.

It's a stupid error in a number of ways. The error text (nothing to do with why the error was generated) suggests that error should only execute on using the chat box. Obviously that's not the case. ZOS isn't matching their error handling text to the error triggers. That's even more concerning as somewhere the server isn't even able to distinguish command functions for your character apart from text in the chat box.

Log back in and move on.

No such Add-on install like Bank Manager, I only use wykkyd toolbar, FoundryTacticalCombat and Slightly Improved Experience Bar.

It happen between PvE area while battling.

I got this massage from Customer Support:
Receiving error 318 will cause you to be disconnected because of excessive messaging. This can also happen when you repeatedly press the action button in quick succession. For example, crafting multiple items in a small amount of time, or interacting with a lever, button, or switch over and over can also cause this.

If any AddOns are installed, I suggest disabling them and see if that resolves the problem. There are some AddOns that may trigger this error.

Had same issue recently while simply walking around then reading a book. In my case, my character 'sprung' back to a recent previous location (similar to a few feet / a metre). This suggested a lag issue.

I wrote about good ol' 318 in another thread and was asked by a mod, within reason, to '/bug' the issue if it continues. So far I have had no more 318 errors.

The Too Many Messages is a common error when getting kicked from the game. However it is usually not because of messages. It has happened to me twice, once early on and once a few weeks later. The first time I could not log back in and had to call customer support. The second time I could log back in right away.

When I talked to the CSR about it, they said it was a bug that I should not be kicked from the game, and I should have been able to log right back in. Since I could log right back in the second time, I assume they at least fixed the issue that prevented re-logging in.

So, perhaps there is a set of conditions that can trigger under weird circumstances that cause the anti spam mechanism to kick you out.

You have to massage the chat first, build it up slowly, then release.

It's simply a badly worded error message that was probably meant for developers and not end-users.

The 'message' limit refers to information sent by your game client to the ZOS server(s). Which happens continuously while playing the game and is normal.

However, in some instances the client can send (and resend) 'messages' too quickly and the server cuts off the connection. That is called 'flood protection'.

None of this has *anything* to do with user generated messages through the message UI in the game.

I've had this happen when trying to get an anchor pin....you know, standing there spamming "E" to hopefully get it before someone ells.
