Ok, I'm gonna fabricate some wild estimates based purely on assumptions as well. 83'525 people currently have the first comment badge. Lets assume that only active accounts are counted. Say there's another 16'475 lurkers to get to an even 100k accounts. Assume only 10% of players participate in the forums. That means 1'000'000 active accounts! Not bad at all. Probably wildly inaccurate, but not bad at all.

Statistics taken from Raptr'. Not all the gamers use Raptr, just as not all TV watchers have the box that tells what they are watching and gives rating information, still it's like a survey, and to some extend represents the % of people playing each game. As you can see, TESO is at the bottom of the chart in June and isn't even in the chart in July.
No indication on numbers of how many player are actually playing ESO but, WIldstar's population has been estimated to be around 600k to 1 million players.
Eso is clearly under that. Even more people play Civilisation V than TESO.
Tell me again there are hundreds of thousands playing this please.
I can only assume you are advertising for this platform, as I don't think many here have ever heard of it!
You would do better looking at Enjin and seeing how many TESO Guilds there are and how many active members they have. As this would probably represent about 5-10% of the population.
And as for Civ V being higher than ESO points to the fact that they are not good figures. I play Civ V and struggle to find games! Also League of legends has more players than WOW the highest subscribed MMO (8 millionish) so League of Legends has 16 million!!!! I'm sure this would of been reported by Riot Games!!!
The numbers
League of Legends by player numbers: 67 million playing every month, 27 million playing every day, and over 7.5 million playing at the same time during each day’s peak play time. - http://www.riotgames.com/our-games
People saying "it doesn't work because ESO players don't use this" are obviously clueless about how statistics work, even if only 1% of the players use it and have it installed, it's still representative of gaming hours spent on games.
Keep being blind/ignorant and putting "LoL" on my posts, time will prove me right in any case, and when that time comes, I'll be here to rub it in your faces, you can count on it.

What about people saying statistics lie?
The problem is that you don't know what proportion of ESO players use it, and it could be that a ridiculously small portion of our player base.
You also don't know what proportion of othe MMO players use it, it could be 50% of Wow players use it and less than 1% of ESO players use it. (unlikely to be that different a ratio, but not actually impossible)
Now I'm not saying the population don't appear to have shrunk, but I am saying we don't know by how much or if some of them will come back. I'm also saying we don't know if this game will sink or swim, because the only way to find out is to stay and see.
If theyever go ftp they better release all the zones so people might stick around. I hope Console release does decent I plan on going ps4 in 2015 when it will hit ps4 if at all. Doubt it will come out in December maybe beta then. I hate Ftp games usually because pay to win. In all honesty though ESO only needs to last a year or 2 till ES6 comes out. Of course I hope Bethesda is working on ES6. Of course i want ES6 to be Summerset isle because Summerset has coastal, mountain, and forest and so forth. It would be the best ES game for sure. Also i think all the thalmer in Skyrim were pointing to ES6 being Summerset isles. Also the other 2 smaller islands make for good expansions.I have had the same type of conversation on other games I have played. Tabula Rasa (oh wait, TR is gone now) and Earth & Beyond (Yep, gone too)I have to say, I love your math. You have absolutely no solid numbers. You've made up every single source of numbers in that post.
You do realise that there are more than 40 cities in this game, each having different phases, then (where the majority of players are) there's Cyrodiil; which for each given Campaign there's a certain limit for each alliance (which is met each night)
The game isn't dying. Stop fear mongering and play the game already. If there were as many active subscribers as you've estimated in your post, they'd have shut the servers down weeks ago.
Use the math. I lowballed, even so they are still making a profit with a mere 75k subs. Not a great profit, but the lights are still on and everyones getting a paycheck. What makes you think there are more players? Every sign I see points to a decrease.
Just personal experience. I've recently had a bunch of names on my friend-list light back up, and my old guild is up and running again. A bunch of us (myself included) took a break after launch until they fixed some of their issues. It was nice to come back to the game now that most of the quests are fixed.
Not only that, but they've already mentioned that as soon as the game goes down hill, they'll go free-to-play. That hasn't happened yet, so I guess they're doing alright (which is fine by me).

Ofc but statistically about the same % of WOW, lol and ESO players should have it installed (which is proved by the top 5 games ranking which is accurate and verifiable). The only thing that could falsify results is if a game pushes you to actually install the software (I think someone mentioned Rift so I guess those numbers can't be trusted).
When you call 2000 people on the phone to ask them who they're going to vote for, you can also say: Maybe 10% of those 2K are Republicans and 90% are Democrats. It's possible but unlikely. That's why several polls are done and not just one and that's why it shows a trend and not absolute numbers. Still when 3 different tools show the same trend, you can estimate it's likely to be a bit accurate. You can make statistics mean anything you want and you can explain and analyze the results as you want but the numbers don't lie.
What pisses me off is that most of time when you have this kind of issues and refuse to even acknowledge them you don't act to fix them and that's a guaranteed doom. I have no problems admitting the game has flaws that may have pushed people away. The important thing to do is to acknowledge those flaws, find out why people left and make it so they come back and bring new blood.
Denying will lead us nowhere. Nowhere good at least..
I completely agree with Talrenos.
People just dont want to see or accept they wasted a bit of their money. I accepted that. At the beginning I was an avid fan of ESO (because of TES single player games history) but then I realized how wrong I was about ESO. ESO is dying and I'm not happy about it. Anyway, I can't help. I'm sorry but I will leave too, this is not about Elder Scrolls universe. A random mmo with TES skin just trying to bring TES success to the mmo world. Bad idea.
@nerevarine1138, as I told you, its nearer and nearer, my friend. Want it or not, it will happen as I told you. I guess you will just think I'm a doomsayer and a whiner as usual, but it's ok.
AlexDougherty wrote: »Ok, I do admit that people have left, I do admit there are flaws, and if they use several different types of data gathering the numbers are probably in the ball park area.
I also think they are trying to fix those problems, of course sometimes the fixes make things worse, but they are trying. But fixating on the negatives can also drive people away too, and I think that at the core this game is still good, I just want it to survive long enough to get fixed.
Zorrashi wrote:And you yourself can determine how we "wasted money" because.....
I'm pretty sure that it is only the describer him/herself that actually decides if the money is worth it. Otherwise they wouldn't still be subscribed after their subscription runs out.

I did all PvE quests so sadly there is nothing for me except craglorn might i ever find a few people on same stage. But for the rest i keep subbed until i get bored. And i don't think that will happen soon.
I have no idea about the US but I expect is similar.
