I am getting frustrated hence this post. I see from other thread titles that I am not alone and no, an existing topic will not fix this. I have read them all.

The problem is that I cannot get onto the EU server since it was moved to the EU. Well that is a lie I can but I had a little workaround. I went into the ESO folder and went to the game through the eso application directly, cutting out the launcher and it worked like a charm. First time every time I connected on this way, yet if I used the launcher, I bombed out with the unknown error/ an error has occured. Happy enough doing it this way until it started giving me the error again. I was able to work around by closing the game down and trying again. It then became second time every time. Now even that has gone, I cannot log on to the server for love nor money.

Firstly let me say that I have contacted customer support on the issue, which was rubbish by the way. I have also waited a month for a fix and it still hasn't happened. When I say the customer support was rubbish, there was this one girl tried to help me and I tried to help her as best I could, so thank you Molly. The others kept sending scripted responses, not even reading what the ones previously said. Three emails in a row from three different customer service reps said the same thing, yet I was dealing directly with Molly and all previous emails were right there, in plain view.

Secondly, I forwarded all ports on my router as Molly requested, sent in my game client all that good stuff.

I mean come on guys, it has only been a month with the same crap, are you seriously no further along with the fix?

P.S Molly had me log into the US server using the launcher and it worked perfectly, don't try to tell me it is my hardware. It is your server, you better start paying those guys up in Frankfurt more euros for more bandwidth.
We have contacted our Customer support team to help you solve your issue.

Seems like I found another tempory fix myself. I went through and opened the ports etc but was still not happening.
I decided to ping your server and low and behold I was dropping 3 out of 4 packets. Dropped my max MTU setting by 100 and tried again. With 4 out of 4 packets received I logged in and am still in game so far.
I even tried closing the ports I had opened back up and trying again and it still works.
Seems like the server is mishandling packets.
    Hope this helps.

It was in my router settings. I am using a netgear router so I am not that familiar with other routers. I found it in my advanced setup page under WAN settings.
There was a box in there asking for Max MTU size and i just dropped that from 1492 (default for my router) to 1354. I get a bit of sporadic lag but then I always did. Most importantly I can play.
I am sure the more tech savvy guys can tell me why but I am by no means a network specialist.

If that actually did the trick, it is... appalling. 25% dropped packets with the standard factory settings for most routers, and a slight adjustment of the MTU fixed it? If this is the case, their server provider has some serious issues with their service.

Sadly agreeing in topic. We need a 3rd party journalistic research for whats going on.
The news of Zenimax is too short. If i write communication i cause lol and trolls.

As a little side effect of my poking in the MTU settings, my sons Xbox would not connect to xbox live anymore. So I put the setting back to its default, and it connected again. I however cannot get back into ESO, falling victim to the error has occured crap again. Just before I did the setting revert, I had been happily been playing in Cyrodill.
So I now am left with a choice, sons xbox or my sub until this gets fixed or some sort of network specialist can help me out.
I am actually leaning with the choice that doesn't make me tamper with my hardware for no good reason.

    As a little update.
I done some digging around the internet and it turns out xbox will not work with a MTU below 1364
So using a good old tutorial over with the guys at Microsoft, I was able to determine a safe working MTU for the game client. I would link it but I am not sure of the rules on linking third party sites, but its easy to find.
A MTU of 1430 was my sweet spot.
I now have a working game again and a working xbox.

You can close down the open tickets and this thread as I am fixed.
It might be a solution for others aswell but use with caution I guess.
