8 trait sets - underpowered?

Have to agree with the OP - finally learned all 8-traits in my current armor/weapon set-up (5 heavy + 2 Light as well as Sword/Board). Looked at making my new VR6 armor using 8-trait sets and couldn't come up with a 4 or 5-piece combination that was better than my 3-set 3-piece combination (using Song of Lamae, Willow's Path, and Seducer) - and for the naysayers as to my set-choices - all I can say is it is working for me (PvE, not PvP)

Still nothing 8-trait here, but have you considered 4 Magnus, 3 Seducer, 2 Torug? Gives same bonuses as your combo but replaces Health Recovery with an extra Spell Damage. I generally find Health Recovery to be of limited use in this game. +10 Health every 2 seconds against bosses that hit for 4-figure damage? This is not a game with long, drawn out battles of attrition. Give me the extra Spell Damage to hopefully kill this Storm Atronach before he smacks me for 1800 damage! :)

Nope. Don't buff them. They are fine now and I don't want 8 traits to be dominating. It's fked up balance.

Yeah, imagine something that takes a few months to accomplish could even dream of being more powerful than something that takes a few hours.

    The audacity.

What if the enhancements that arise from having 2, 3, 4, or 5 pieces of a set are modified by the skill level of the crafter? Wouldn't it stand to reason that a person that's level 50 in Blacksmithing would be able to construct the armor better than a person that's learned all the traits but is sill just level 35 in Blacksmithing?

Not even chasing 8 traits. Takes too long and no reward.

I look at it as a why not. It's almost free to do...with the maybe they'll improve the sets some day, especially if enough people complain about them on the forums ;)

Complaining about something on these forums only works if the subject of the complaints is something akin to a game crash or a major progress blocking item. Or, if enough people complain about it both often and loudly (such as with the old VR content), then ZOS listens. Otherwise, there is very little evidence they give anything but lip service to complaints on the forums. They chime in on less than 5% of threads so that should tell you something.

Hey ZOS, prove this guy wrong. Thoughts from you? Looks like this thread has general consensus of, 8-trait crafting needs some type of love...

Yes, please prove me wrong! Show us all that these sets are indeed lame and underpowered given the time (and real world subscription money) required before crafters can make them. These sets are a virtual pay to play microcosm without the actual play aspect because these sets aren't worth using.

You might be on to something there...these items really are a pay-to-play group of items, and ZOS doesn't want their game to come off as a pay-to-win game.

A player will need to subscribe for at least one month after their initial 30 free days with purchase have expired if they wish to craft any of these 8 trait set pieces. Many players will need to subscribe for two months before they finish the research necessary to craft these items. That sure sounds like a pay to play scenario.

I have been playing this game since March 30th and I only have 15 items with all 8 traits researched. I have 2 more that are currently researching their final trait right now. The rest are researching their 7th trait or are waiting in the research queue. I still have several more months of research time ahead of me - and that is before this rumored 9th trait which might be coming. I have very little confidence these 8 trait sets will be any better when/if I finally complete the research for every item. Maybe I am a glutton for punishment with more money than brains.

I agree that 8 trait sets are not worth it. I have many of them (like 17) researched just because it's basically free (tedious mainly for inventory management but still free).

Why don't they simply add matching jewelry drops from vet dungeons/pvp (all of them but not Trials) so it encourages people to do them again after the initial skill point run (and pvp'ers could get them their way)?

And add the ability for full 8 traits crafter (all 8 traits researched for a specific kind of gear) to transform other set's jewelry in that 8 trait set jewelry. Then there would be a reward for crafters since many people who don't want to farm all pieces would buy some at least.

I'm pretty sure these changes would be very easy to implement and wouldn't be op.
