feel the need to read the quest dialogue as it's spoken by the NPC?

I've tried not to. But I can't help it. I have to read it all.

Yes but if your doing a dungeon run often you'll have to just read the quest stuff on your skill point run since others get impatient and will tend to run off to kill stuff.

I rely on the subtitles in the NPC Chat window. Without them, I wouldn't have a clue what was being said 3/4 of the time.

    Sometimes i read , sometimes i dont.

I do like to do one or the other when possible and avoid skipping the lore and what the NPCs got to say.

I learned to speed read a long time ago, so I am always cutting off the spoken dialog. However, I do read the quest text dialog, at least the first time through.

Yes, I read and read pretty fast. That's why I used that no written dialog add-on on my first playtrough.

I pretty much click through 95% of the dialog. I do play it through and read it maybe the first couple times through for immersion but after that...click click click

Honestly, once I realized that the 'choices' you get really doesnt effect the quest like it did in TES, I just started always clicking though as fast as I could.

I am hoping the updated facials will change that, but I can't help not reading it. For some reason I can't just sit there and watch the npc talk to me. I have to read it too.

I think they should should test the new facials to see if players are more likely to listen rather than read. I think what is going on is that it is easier for our imagination to fulfill the role of npc actor, as one might do while reading a book, rather than rely on the actual npc actor which cannot currently compete with the emotional realism of our imaginative npc actor.

Considering how many players treat this game like it's a great big speed run, I thought I was the only one who actually did stuff like read/listen to dialogue and even (GASP) read many of the books and notes in the game and listen to random NPC dialogue.

I usually try to just listen.

I used to use an addon to disable the text actually, which was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, there are sometimes spoken words that I don't quite catch or understand. So I disabled it.

I read everything on the first run through, dialogue, books, random notes laying around.....by the 3rd or so toon I'm just clicking through.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I do have a tendency to stare at it even if I don't want to, like a train wreck. And majority of the time I skip to the next line once they've said reached the last 8 or so words.

In solo content, I listen and read. In group content, I always read/skim, because the group will always leave me behind if I stop to take in the storytelling aspects of the game--even though that's the best part of the game.

    Yes, I must read everything!
I try to control myself and avoid reading at the same time they're talking... but sometimes I cannot help myself.

I try to look at their faces/gestures... some of them are quite well done.

Like Sheo, he always crack me up when he answers "The catch?!" during the Circus of the Cheerful Slaughter quest (played it three times already!), and the gesture added to the phrase is very fitting :)

I cannot wait until they have the facial animations... as it will make NPCs interaction much more interesting and immersive.

Where is everyone from the polls in game?? I always end up grouped with the *click click clickers* in group dungeons. I swear I have done the first couple of group dungeons three or more times and still don't know entirely what the quests were about...

I must read everything. I usually tell people that much at the start of a run and if they don't have enough patience to wait for their healer, well, it's not my fault if they die;)
