Motifs drop rate stealth nerfed again ?

After Update 3, I only found Ingredients, Ingredients and more Ingredients. Reached VR12 some time ago and no motif for me.

I have noticed a lot of Empty Cupboards and Cabinets in my multi-alt travels. However I have also found that they reset once I have completed a quest or left a dungeon ie on whichever Alt I have decided to level that day, after some questing. I'm uncertain whether it's subjective or not but certainly my EU Alts have had annoyingly empty containers while my NA Alt that I'm leveling, in order to obtain L20 Green recipes, doesn't have this problem.

What I did discover, yesterday, is that the recipe drop is randomly generated based on the Region and your Level. I had reached L16 in Glenumbra and a L20G (Combwort Confit) Recipe dropped followed by a L1G Recipe (Capon Tinish).

#edit Modified this as I had it happen again yesterday but the recipe's in containers dropped based on character level. The recipe based on the region level dropped from a NPC and I think that's what actually occurred with the "Capon Tinish"

I have found 1 since 1.3.3 and i don't even look that hard .

I'm not one of those people who goes into every house of every city, everytime i go in a city.

I will only search the furniture that i come across in the buildings that i happen to go in . Mostly for quests . And by doing that i found the Nord Motif book.

But to be honest , i've never been a very lucky guy when it comes to finding motifs. I have a few more on my first character and those were found pre 1.3.3 but i still wasn't finding many of them. I remember being very excited everytime i found one because they were really rare back then even pre 1.3.3 .

Just a side note but be sure to check them that they say "empty" because I've found the visuals messed up (looks open) more and more recently.

So far I have had 7 purple drinks recipes 3 purple food and 2 purple motifs since the patch so I'm thinking the drink ones are the most common purple item.
But as I stated before after looting one you could farm for hours and not get another but if you leave it for a few hours I think around 3 then resume farming it will less than 40 mins to get another. No imperial since patch but I've only had 1 in total anyway. I'm gonna count the containers to get a purple item and come up with some numbers and a more accurate time on the cool down .

Okay guys, there seems to be some confusion. I don't think the OP is talking about blue motifs or green and blue recipes. No one cares about those, you trip over those anytime you loot a chest. Purple and gold are all that matter.

Exactly.

I can confirm that i keep getting purple recipes. I had 0 of VR5 purple recipes before patch 1.3.3, now i have all food recipes (including the one which uses Pepper and 1 drink). Plus 3 more drink recipes (got same drink recipe 4 times) and 2 more food recipes which i sold.
Stil 0 Motifs.

P.S. Looted several Treause Maps which i never found in tables\desks e.t.c. before.

Lol no you didn't after a lot of testing I'm100% certain that upon your first purple recipe or motif dropping even if you didn't pick it up you would have triggered a cool down.
The cool down currently seems somewhere between 2 and 5 hours so 5 in one hour I call bs.
As for the op I thought the same thing but they haven't been. The problem is in a vet zone container now there are only 2 motifs you could drop and 6 recipes that could drop any one of which will trigger the above cool down.
Compared to before where the purple recipes where not in the loot.

Please, please, please, please, please tell me where you found out about this mysterious cooldown period. Because this is the first I'm hearing about it.

Honestly, if any of you are taking classes in statistics or probability, start paying more attention to your teachers. And never go to Vegas.

Weren't you here during the real motif nerf, white-knighting against the claims, making these exact arguments; only to have ZOS come out and admit that they in-fact nerfed the drop-rate?

Yes. That was me.

Notice that I have not said that the drop rate hasn't been bugged/nerfed. Just that individual observations of bad luck do not constitute data. I know that those two ideas seem contradictory to people, but maybe if you all had paid a little more attention in science class, this wouldn't be such a hard concept to grasp.

Just got my first purple motif since 1.3 and I check a LOT. I'm afraid to let it go and of course people want to pay the OLD price, not the rare price.

Yes, the drop rates have gone down on rare motifs. Up on rare recipes though.

Same here, was farming the ancient elf motif and kept getting food plans instead of motifs, I ended up forking over 45k for the motif instead, which is now epic quality.

I think I am simply unlucky

I am VR4 and not received a single one as yet but then again, it doesn't really matter hugely to me. They are a nice to have but don't impact my gameplay as I'm not farming for cash.

I did not find any rare motif's until I hit VR4. In the last week I have found 3 Daedric and one Ancient Elf. Obviously I sold the 2 Daedric's. I was very happy after a long drought. I don't 'farm' as in log off log on log off log on (which is not farming) I just log on and search everything I come across - if I can be bothered

I'm VR3.5 and I open EVERYTHING. So far since hitting Veteran rank I have found one purple cooking recipe, and one purple solvent for smithing and one purple for cloth.... that's the only data I can contribute.

I got my V12 a couple of months before, and since then I haven't found any Motif. Today a couple of mintue earlier, I found there is very less people online so I tried my luck on farming and result was negative. Yes they nerfed Motifs.

It's like Cooking Mama, this MMO now. Attacked a few dominion camps in Shadowfen and like all mobs were dropping recipes. Trolls had them in sacks, Alligators were eating them faster then pirate's watches and the pirates chests were stuffed with them. Now I know there are a lot of cooking fires and provisioning is easy to level to 50, but then all of my suspicions were confirmed, half the players running around are now wearing aprons. They know, they are going to boil all our mucrab pets. Put pony guars on a spit. Little Scuttler will be in the soup first time you are afk. Two racial and one exotique motifs in all that time(last month). But the chefs are everywhere.

I've been chatting with a few individuals in my guild who actively farm motifs and whatnot and they are under the impression it has been reduced. Alternatively, purple recipes seem to be more common.. so there's that.

I have found the odd low level motif. I'd definitely say has been nerfed b/c I will find one like once every 2 weeks or so (and I play everyday). Nothing higher level at all tho since patch.

Get ready for motif prices to skyrocket. Anyone know where I can buy shares in motifs? Lol! It's worse than gasoline.

I don't know if thy have been nerfed or not, but I have been very lucky my entire time playing this game. I don't do relog farming but I check everything and in the last 2 weeks I have found 2 barbaric, 1 daedric and 1 ancient elf. I haven't found any vet food epics but I have found 3 vet drink epic. Meanwhile a friend I have played with since early access, who opens everything like me, has found only 2 epic motifs and no food/bevs.

I do notice that my V12 doesn't find near as much as my V6 and V8 characters find.

I'm 100% certain you are full of it. Quit making stuff up. random is random is random. It's quite possible to find more than one back to back.

I've noticed an increase in provisioning recipe drops (i'm selling more of them than random looted armour atm) and a definite decline in motif drop rates. Almost to the point that I may bug report it.

edit: to clarify - when I say decline in motifs - I mean, I haven't had a single one drop for a week now and I stick my head into every single trunk, backpack etc etc I find. As well as the standard bank runs.
