How many guild traders are there in one faction?

Has ZOS released an official number? Has anyone counted or estimated?

@Alphashado there's about 120 kiosks, iirc. That's max 60k slots. Not taking into account that only a fifth of those are in high traffic areas and people occupy up to 5 slots. By design, it excludes the majority of the player base.
@Nazon_Katts‌ where are you getting the 120 number from?

I am also curious if there is a guild trader in a town, does that same guild trader show up for the other factions when they enter that town? Or are there three separate guild traders in each town?

well since my non-vVR templar sees VR level characters, I would say it doesn't replicate them.

I have not counted the other alliances yet, but I have found 38 traders in EP and 6 in Coldharbour.

The best places to shop are the stores in Windhelm and outside Riften as most of those traders have several thousand items for sale.

The question is if the players in the other alliances see them since they are in a separate instance of that town than you are. Non-VR and VR characters of the same alliance share all the same areas. It is the VR characters in the other alliance that are instanced to a different area. Otherwise all the starter areas would be filled with the other factions VR characters.

They show up in all instances of a town. So a trader in Davon's watch (level 10ish) is also visible in the VR1 and VR6 versions of that town.

Yes, my vet EP character and my non vet DC character see the same guild traders in Glenumbra.

If that is the case I'm going to say 120 seems way to high.

Not really. If you assume that each region has an equal number of traders, and EP has 38, 38 x 3 = 114. Plus 6 in Coldharbour makes 120.

And that's not counting the ones in Craglorn. I haven't counted those, but there are probably between 4-6 there too.

I'm guessing there are quite a few in some back alley towns that don't get visited often then. I think I saw some in Daggerfall and Wayrest yet I never see people in those towns except people farming cabinets for motifs.

Maybe they should put a lot more in the areas with actual traffic and remove the ones no one goes to.

The pattern that I noticed in EP is that there are usually 5 or so traders in the capital city of the zone and then two single traders in different areas of the map. I'm pretty happy with that distribution, actually.

I have noticed, however, that there are empty carts in some places (like in Bal Foyen, there is one trader, but there is another cart across from him). I hope this means that ZOS plans on increasing the number of traders in the future.

I wish they would put in a system similar to SWG. In SWG everyone had their own shops or personal vendors. You could use the central system to search all of them but you still had to visit that vendor in order to purchase an item. It often resulted in people buying more items than the one they originally made the trip for. 120+ is a bit much to visit every one of in search of a deal. It just seems like a time sink to me with no real purpose.

Someone counted them and came up with a 120ish number. Think it was 122, but my memory doesn't serve me all too well at times.

EDIT: Nope, I knew memory was failing on me. 122 is correct, tho it's been from the horses mouth actually, see here: http://dulfy.net/2014/07/12/eso-paul-sage-the-road-ahead-qa-transcript/

Well the "time is money" adage means you have the choice of spending one or the other. If you don't want to spend time finding the best possible price for whatever it is you want, you can take the risk of buying it at a bit more than if you had spent more time looking for a deal.

Sure but there is still no logical reason for having to travel to 120+ vendors other than a time sink. Otherwise it is basically just making the richest guilds richer. Whoever spends the most money will get the best kiosk and a huge amount of people would just pay a bit more as opposed to spending all of their play time going from vendor to vendor.

I would think ZOS would want us actually playing the content instead of spending a bunch of time vendor hopping.

Oh I don't know- the more time people spend shopping, the less time they have to complain about lack of new content or bugs in the game, right?

But seriously it's nice to have options. People don't have to spend all their time shopping if they don't want to.

Some people actually like looking for bargains and doing arbitrage (buying cheap here, selling for more there.) Not everything has to be reduced to the online shopping model.
