Hello, I bought Elder Scrolls yesterday, tried downloading it, and it wont start up. When I hit the play button, the screen goes black like it is getting ready to start, the mouse turns into a load wheel, then it stays like then until i click the screen and it states that 'ESO is not responding". I was wondering if anyone has had this issue, or could help me solve it. I have tried to contact the tech help, but have received nothing back yet.

I hate to ask, but do you have a video card that can run this game? This almost sounds like on CPU graphics.

Barring that, do you have any firewalls or filters? You may have to allow this game to communicate on the Internet.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I know I have the graphics card... I have played this game on this computer before, but I have moved since and this has been the issue since. That was in May. I am not too sure how to find the place for the firewall.. I am not too computer savy.

The last issue I had with this was that the UserSettings.txt file just flat out didn't load...

Try the Repair Option, and since you have not played since May, then move all your Addons out of the Addons Folder, if you have any.

And, they have security that sees that you have a different IP and you have to respond to an email challenge to get past that. Although you should have gotten a message about that.

Hi @Terry322‌. A black screen can mean that the computer's video card drivers need to be updated. Please go to your video card manufacturer's website and download the most up to date drivers for your video card. Please follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and try to run the game again as administrator.

    Intel Video Cards: http://www.intel.com/
    •Click Menu.
•Choose Support and then Downloads and Drivers.
•Select Option 2: Automatically Find Drivers and Software.

    Nvidia Video Cards: http://www.nvidia.com
    •Click Drivers.
•Choose Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products.

    AMD Video Cards: http://www.amd.com
    •Click Drivers & Support.
•Click the Find your driver button.

    Other Video Cards:
•Players should contact the computer's manufacturer for driver updates.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please contact Customer Support at https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask so that we can investigate further.

    1. Try the Repair Option in the Launcher, it's behind a drop down menu
    2. Do any other games (3D type games, not flash games or browser games) work on your machine right now?
    3. Have you tried a clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    4. Did you get a challenge and response email from ZOS on first log in?
    5. Did you set up an account?
    6. Have you contact customer support

Other games play fine on my machine, I7-4770K 3.50GHz, GeForce GTX 780 Ti, 16GB Ram.
When it happened, everything looked normal until I selected the character to laod than it just hung and never did load.

Yesterday there was one time it didn't load but since then it has loaded every time. Maybe it was a one time internet problem, I might never know it it continues to work.
