Thanks for the Loyalty Program, but if the gifts take an Inventory Space I don't need 'em

    That's pretty much it.

I'd rather have an extra storage space anywhere bag/bank for each 3 months I play the game lol

And what we really need is for "all" Trophies, Pets, Treasure Maps to all be Account bound and not be taking up very precious Inventory Space! (Rift is a perfect example of how to do this btw)

But thanks for the kind thoughts and well wishes and the desire to reward us for our patronage.

But I think the majority of players would rather have a less restrictive and fixed Inventory system as our gift for our Subscription dues we pay ;)

    Best Regards

It's just another pet that I have to delete.

It's just another pet that will sit in my mail box until pets no longer take up an inventory slot.

To respond to a few of the actual points raised:

    1. ZO owes you access to the game they made. That's it. If you don't like the game, no one is making you pay for it. So don't play.

Attitudes like the ones on display in this thread are exactly why we can't have nice things. If ZO offers other players a dog during a special sale, the forums explode. When they offer a loyalty program to give out special gimmicks like pets, players still act like the girls on My Super-Sweet 16 when they don't get the right color of BMW. Don't like/want the free pet? Too bad. Maybe you'll like the next one. That's life.

This is a really immature way to respond to people with legitimate complaints. People are allowed to be critical of a service they pay for. Are they entitled to more? Ofc not, but they are absolutely allowed to have complaints. If all the people you would tell to quit actually did, well, hope you're ok with f2p mmos.

They are adding a loyalty program exactly for that. Devs love their games but the people who pay them love profit. This isn't some fluffy way for them to tell you they love you, it's a way to hopefully keep people subbed even if content isn't coming out atm. This games entire lifeforce is based on keeping a solid playerbase. You lose players, you start seeing content cuts, you start seeing micro-transactions, and eventually if that can't sustain it you see f2p models.

So no, telling people to 'adapt or quit' or that they 'whine about everything' is not what you do if you truly love a game. You need to take everyone's opinions into consideration and accept that people want different things, and while not all their points are legit SOME of them are.

I personally love pets. I'm a huge pet collector in other games but don't bother in this one because yes, my bank is filled to the brim and no, I don't want to have to switch to a mule to shift mats around when I want to craft.

You really need to chill with your overzealous attitude because all those entitled brats you tell to suck it up or quit are what's keeping this game from being a f2p mess.

    I can't disagree more strongly.

The entitled brats you refer to are a very vocal minority on the forums any time something doesn't go their way. The vast majority of players never hear about some of the "issues" raised here, much less feel that they are severe enough to warrant quitting.

You know what most people do with a subscription-based game? They play it. If they don't like it, they don't subscribe. Period.

Minority? lol. Hardly. It's the opposite. Same as the vet area changes. the MAJORITY thought they were too hard and it was inhibiting their ability to play the whole content of the game.

The majority of the player base thinks there is not enough inventory space or it's too expensive to obtain. Try searching the forums you'll see.

This is just going to be another post that some one will quote with their witty, "insightful" reply on how wrong I am. But there is not wrong or right. Take it or leave it. No one's stopping you. No one cares. Who would care if I stopped playing? I may be the only dork that likes this game and the free pet. Good. I'm happy. Quote and post away. You won't steal my sunshine you Debby Downers.

I gave you LOL, if that's ok. LOL

I tried to get LOL on my posts too but no one cares.... :disappointed:

This has nothing to do with the receiver of the gift, but the impact on the giver.

It's more that it's an insult to evaluate a gift for financial viability than anything else. In some cultures, it's a mortal insult to turn down a gift. Sure, not all gifts are worth keeping, but one should consider the context under which the gift is given.

In most cases, it is better in the long run to accept the gift and get rid of it later if you don't want it. In other cases, a polite refusal without evaluation is the better route, as in "Thank you for the thought, but I already have one of these, perhaps you know someone who might need this more than I do".

However,If you insult someone today that tries to do something nice for you, you dramatically diminish the chance that they will do something nice for you in the future. That's more the moral of the story than anything else.

I think some of us are getting a bit far afield with this whole "gift" thing. And we need to reel this in a tad before this gets even more absurd...

It's not a "gift" in the true sense of the word. In fact, it's not a "gift" at all. MMOs have been doing loyalty programs for well over a decade. People asked for something like that here and a pet is what they came up with. It's an incentive for continued subscribing something that works more in their favor than it does ours and something they depend on for a livelihood rather than entertainment, as it is for us. It's not something they are just doing out of the goodness of their hearts. And once it's designed and implemented, it costs them nothing. And in the grand scheme of loyalty program rewards in games across the board it, frankly, is par but nothing special.

So while, for the record, I'm only in this discussion because of the inventory issue involved, may we please dispense with the notion that anyone is dissing someone offering them a "gift." It's a massive company doing it on top of the other fluff that they are doing instead of addressing the significant core issues with the game as an incentive to subscribe for periods of time. For those in the cheap seats, that means send them money month after month. And let's also dispense with the notion that they are hand delivering a box of cigars, a bottle of 25 year old scotch, and a couple of virgins and someone is being insulted by someone questioning it.

It's ridiculous. Sometimes I seriously have to wonder what's in the water around here.

    It's not a gift?

Then they must be charging us for it... oh, hang on. No. That's not it. Well then, they must be asking for something in return... no. Well, that's just the darndest thing. It's almost like they're giving players something for free. With no expectation of anything in return. Well, I don't know about these "gift" things, but that sounds pretty neat to me.

One must wonder if they are actually allowing you to play this game for free.

Zen is not doing me any favor , they arent giving me anything for free.

They are doing their job , a job for which i and apparently many others here pay for each and every month for them to perform.

A job that they more often than they should perform poorly.

So yes , people have a lot of valid complains because we PAY for this and expect them to deliver , doesnt matter how many times you talk and pretend we dont.

Their job is to provide us with the game we pay for. Not to give us free stuff for continuing to play it.

I'm not saying they're saints, or that this is an altruistic action, but giving us something for free is the very definition of a gift.

    What counts has "provide" really?

Isnt to develop new stuff for us also? Isnt this exactly that?

Wasnt this developed on their normal working hours , that is what our money pay for?

How this is any more free than lets say , craglorn even?

Both are content that they made while working and getting paid out of the money we gave them each month.

Just because they didnt say they would make this before launch , this makes it free? How actually free is this?

Dont get me wrong , im happy that im getting the pet like i said , but i dont really see it like a free gift , i see content they are adding , this time to players that have been here longer.

I would suggest ZoS makes ESO a f2p game... but players need to pay a little for every quest... but ZoS would also provide incentive that if a player has spent $5000 in real dollars in a month, they would get a monkey as a pet walking around with you; and if you has spent $10000 you would get a crab sitting on your head as a gift... (maybe $20000+ you would get some dog's sh!$ stain on your clothe?!) I think that would be awesome. It's true, more players are more appreciative when companies treat them like that, versus to what ZoS is doing right now. I see it in p2w games all the time.

    LOL

Hmmmm, did you *pay* Wartune by any chance? LOL Thousands pumped in monthly by players, EVERY monthly event centered around making you buy more and to top it off a CEO who states their games are made to rake dumb whales of their $$......yeah, I hope to Talos that never happens with ESO.

Believe it or not, ZO isn't obligated to give you anything, much less a reward for your loyalty.
    .

    Horse poopies.

ZOS is most certainly obligated to give us something, I mean, we are the ones paying them for a service, right? If the thing we are paying for is broken, faulty, or of such horrible design/concepts, then any paying customer has a right to complain and expect within reason a resolution to the issue.

But if you don't think your due something, then your exactly the player ZOS wants; someone that is passive, never complains and blindly pays money each month.

Yep. unfortunately for them... most people actually want stuff for things they pay for. A good UI and good basic MMO features that aren't trash are amongst the most wanted. So the game is going to die out rather quick if ZOS just keeps adding dyes and other useless crap instead of fixing the terrible core systems it currently has implemented.

Honestly, the mental gymnastics on display here are stunning.

You pay your gym for a membership. That includes them giving you full access to the gym, including upgraded/maintained equipment and everything else there. If, one day, they give you a free protein bar when you come in, that's not something you paid for. That's a gift. They may have ulterior motives in giving you the gift, but it's a gift.

I don't know why people are so eager to treat this as though it's something they deserve.

I agree. Pets shouldn't take up bank space and ZOS should work on a different system for them. Players who spend the extra to get one or earn one are essentially being penalized by losing bank space. I don't even use mine and and am considering just deleting them. A lot of players who don't have 'em (and can't relate) will say that that's your issue, but I was never told it would impact my bank space and I don't think it's fair that it does. Also, trophies should be kept as achievements, not in the bank.

They start a thread that is basically a tantrum because something is not exactly how they want it then abuse Zenimax and threaten to rage quit. Nice idea, but inventory space is easy enough to manage and easy to increase once you spend enough time playing.
Yes, RIFT has a nice way to manage bag space. But you pay for it. If you want a pay-to-win / get-what-I-want-NOW! model then you need to find a different game.

"I think", this is pure subjection on your part. Potentially correct, but could also be wrong. I could postulate the majority of players do not read the forums, I may believe I am correct, but with no hard figures it is still speculation. Oh, and then you come around again to asking for what you want.

You were polite enough in the bits I snipped, but I just read your post as only your opinion and your further comments to replies as raising ire at people disagreeing with you.

It's "the voice of reason" to call a legitimate discussion about a legitimate issue with the game "rude, selfish, and ignorant"? It's not insulting those engaged in said discussion to say they "complain about absolutely everything and will never be happy" and that the discussion itself is a "tantrum" or "pity post" simply because you don't happen to agree?

Congratulations, sir. In the dictionary next to "Typical ESO Forums Poster" there is a picture of your post. As well as next to "Hypocrite."

I have no idea what you are talking about but the rest of us are discussing an actual issue with the game which is inventory space and how that issue is exacerbated by things like trophies and pets. No need to engage in flames and insults simply because you disagree that there is a problem. The forums are a form of feedback and voicing legitimate concerns with game issues is entirely appropriate here.

Save the sanctimony for someplace else, for that matter. It's a discussion about a game. Nothing more nothing less.

Name one flame or insult in anything I've posted here. Calling out the truth of the matter in a discussion, while maybe not what some people want to hear, isn't in and of itself, insulting or a personal attack.

Unlike other posters, I've questioned nothing about their personal character or invented ulterior motives because I happen to disagree with what they have to say. I simply debate what is being said. Are you suggesting that the quoted post isn't typical of these forums or hypocritical? lol

Your retort is a lie as can be seen in your previous post.
I have no further wish to take this thread away from the topic as intended. My inbox is open to you should you wish to discuss this issue further.

    Synopsis :
Some people object to receiving gifts for their subscription, as it is not the gift they wanted.

So I'm lying now? About what, specifically, please?

People on these forums are just unreal sometimes.

And, no, it's not about people not liking the loyalty reward. There may have been a poster or two earlier in the thread who said that but if you actually read the thread and read the title of the thread, for that matter, it's about the reward (which is what it is, not a "gift") taking up inventory space in a game that already has a problematic inventory system.

I'm not sure why this specific point is so hard for some people to grasp. This thread Isnt a complaint about the pet. It's about inventory being a problem and pets and trophies adding to the problem.

    Greetings to all of you!

This is a short reminder to keep this thread on topic. Disagreements are bound to happen and we are doing what we can to gather as much feedback as possible. However, personal conversations can and should be carried out via PM.

    Thank you for your understanding!

My opinion on this is a bit of a hybrid between some posts.

    1) I don't need extra inventory space as a gift... not that I'd turn it down, but really.

    2) Instead, I'd rather them make certain things weigh nothing and be account wide (if possible), like Pets and Maps account wide weighing nothing and then you'd have trophies and costumes weighing nothing/not taking up an inventory spot --- but maybe with a separate, fixed tab for them in both the Bank or Inventory.

    3) I'm happy to get the Ice Wraith... I think that's pretty cool (no pun intended).

TL;DR: I agree with getting the ice wraith as a gift as being a good thing! I disagree with getting more inventory spaces as a gift. But I DO AGREE with making certain things weigh nothing/not take up space and possibly be account wide but if not at least maybe have their own dedicated tabs in Banks and Inventory so that they don't count. Also have a way to maybe lock certain items so that they can not be deleted... but that's just pouring gravy on now. :grinning:

My apologies, the lexical semantics of my use of the word 'gift' obviously threw you from the issue. I will re-phrase.

    Synopsis :
Some people object to receiving rewards for their subscription, as it is not the rewards they wanted... as it takes up precious, but manageable, inventory space.
