Pets are just there to distract from broken mechanics... people are so easily distracted... its saddening

I hate magic horses. I think its one of the most immersion breaking mechanics an MMO can have.

And then there's the obvious inconsistency that I mentioned, which makes it even more aggravating.

    1) make a hide other players pet option
    2) make it so pets do not take up inventory slots

Actually, the only pet that annoys me is my own matriarch.. so I never have it out when not in immediate danger. That flapping, both sound and having it in my face is very annoying. Especially in 3rd person view.. its always in the way it seems.

Player collision needs to be turned off.
That is all that bothers me about them.
Happens a lot in Banks or at Crafting Stations.

    Dear Gods, yes.

Pets, be they vanity or summoner pets really annoy the everloving FRAK out of me.

There needs to be a "no pet zone" around every vendor, crafting station, dye station and bank. This zone can also be a "no powers zone" and clearly marked by having the ground in the area of the zone be a different color.

However, I realize this is a pipe dream, what with the upcoming grie...err....justice system.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I've been stuck a couple of times when leaving a transitus. The pet happened to be where I came out and my toon couldn't move.

Also, when the pets are in a crowded area like a blacksmith, it's a little annoying to bump into them. Not a fan of them. I don't really see the need for them in this game.

it doesnt matter, im not going to take mine out anyways. I think Zenimax is too stupid to make a combat pet that isnt in the sorc skill line, vanity pet? Who gives a rip? Now a combat pet for being loyal, im all for that, Zenimax can keep the stupid vanity pets (where did that *** idea come from anyways?)

Because getting a combat pet for being loyal is equivalent to P2W: you are getting something that idrectly impacts your gameplay in exchange for real world currency; something that could potentially give you an advantage over someone who hasn't played as long. Vanity items are the easiest way to give the player something that doesn't impact gameplay.

Actually wish I could use mine right now, but won't because the collision bug is really annoying. I don't want to go afk and have someone get stuck...

FYI: If no one has said already, the collision is a bug and they've said they're going to fix it for both pets and summons. If you get stuck at a Wayshrine, opening you map will get you unstuck and you can roll-dodge through pets at the bank and in doorways.

Nothing irritates me more than the sound of 1000 farm animals standing INSIDE THE BANK. Or porting into town and getting stuck at the wayshrine by a (literal) dogpile of troll pixels.

I agree with many other posters. Turn off ALL pet collisions, and disable them in towns.

They do, very much so! And they should because it is a mechanic built into the game available to everyone who has an active subscription. I'm talking about battle familiars behind a paywall is a bad idea.

Nope. Doesn't bother me one bit. I really, really try to comprehend what's so annoying about it to so many, what about someone else's pet could possibly be making anyone's experience worse, but I never come up with anything. Sorry, guess I'm just not capable of empathizing with being so aggravated by other people's stuff.

Collision detection on pets is what's so annoying about them. That took me all of 0.0001 seconds to figure out...

A lot of MMOs do have a pet feature with WOW having the biggest with its over 500 creatures and the Pokémon system.

Personally I don't mind them but would like it if they served a bigger purpose than just being there.

Actually no, they don't. Not in the context you're using it anyway. Everybody from day one has access to the sorc pets. It's just a matter of whether they choose to go for them or not. But a combat pet awarded for loyalty would give a game mechanic to only those who have been around a while. That would be a demonstration of poor form should they do that.

Am I the only person that find every other player having giant pets following them around to be annoying?

I mean look at this Rewards "Ice Wraith" It looks massive and is going to be floating around right in your player's face. We're not allowed to have persistent Horses that follow us around or stay where we Dismount them..... but giant Ice Wraiths and random Daedra are perfectly fine?

I'd LOVE an option to check a box and have them all made invisible.

I'm of two minds when it comes to vanity pets. Pets like dogs I love and never put away. Flying pets, however, annoy the heck out of me.

While I am very appreciative of the devs for giving us all a rather cool vanity pet, I'm not looking forward to walking into a bank filled with ice wraiths and winged twilights. I already can't stand the winged twilights and refuse to have one on my own mage.

And as a side note, I wish our pets had even just basic sit/stay commands.

I love having my summons and pet out all the time.

But that's not an option for me now with the collision activated. I hope they fix it soon. :)

    1. Collision of pets is obviously a bug, don't use that as an argument for "no pets in town/craft area/bank
    2. Wtf. People complains about everything. Next time ask for disable all players in cities, maybe you'll have a clear way to the banker or the crafting station then.

I think they should just allow you to ride your horse into the bank while they're at it.

That will be about as lore-friendly and non-disruptive as a bank full of screaming monkeys and squealing pigs.

    Not exactly.

I'm pointing at a clear sign of a massive inconsistency in game design.

But if I had to choose one, yes, I'd rather have persistent horses than worthless monitor-clogging Monster-tails.

I like my Horse in Skyrim, especially with the Convenient Horses mod that lets you dictate all these great realistic "immersive" options with your horse.

But at the same time, I don't use Followers in Skyrim because they're.... freaking irritating.

The only places pets bother me is in confined or small spaces. Removing Collision would take care of most of that, forcing the Sorcerer Pets to dissolve on entering a bank would solve the rest.

    ^ This

Personally, I'd rather have them despawn when in a building or at a crafting station. Too many times they block what others are trying to do.

It happens at the woodworking station in Skywatch all the time because it's in a small space in a tent. People keep their pets out and no one can get to the crafting station. Whispers usually have no effect.
