    Just a small post to point out that the game is doing very well. At the top of sales in the UK;

I'm sure this will upset many trolls. ;)

Though i am very outspoken, and hold ZOS to the fire for the games direction it makes me happy. i want ESO to succeed and fix its failings . this bodes well. but honestly sales mean nothing if the game is not retaining. Go ask Bioware Austin how well that worked out for them. Wait i forgot they were disbanded and everyone fired . Even the two doctor that created the company and some of the best RPG's of all time.so you can't

didn't they make Bioshock also? None of those matter compared to that.

Interesting. How do you see that working? I get the haters but what is the cycle? If it is selling better than any other game in the UK, it can only go down from there of course. ;)

Great news! More players means more money to improve the game. Nowadays game is in much better shape than it was at launch, so hopefully more people will stay.

One would think, reading the forums, that they got ESO on the wrong chart. It was supposed to be on the "Top Games Where Players Are Cancelling Subscriptions" chart.

I am running an alt in low levels (to gather guts, please don't ask) and I seen a lot of new players (you can tell by the questions they ask), so it must be still selling at least decently

    Indeed.

Good sales figures is a positive sign to growth in that market, but I wonder how much that had to do with moving of the UK server to the UK so low bandwidth players could enjoy the game.

Though as of July 2014 the top ten games by sales are:

    1. The Last of Us (PS4, PS3)
    2. Minecraft (360, PS3)
    3. FIFA 14 (360,PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Vita)
    4. Watch Dogs (PS4, 360, PS3, Xbox One, PC)
    5. Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
    6. Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PC)
    7. Grand Theft Auto V (360, PS3)
    8. Sniper Elite III (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
    9. NBA 2K14 (360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
    10. Lego Marvel Super Heroes (360, PS3, 3DS, DS, PS4, Wii U, Xbox One, Vita, PC)
    (source)

Not one single game on that list is an MMO. All of them are single player games. Although some of them do have Multiplayer/Co-op options with the game.

Keep in mind that we have just finished seeing a massive number of summer sales going on here in the US as well. From the Steam to Microsoft, to Origin, and Sony. All of them have just completed their summer sales.

It stands to reason that during the months where there are summer sales of Single Player Games, that those games will then rate higher on any list that is showing sales alone.

They sold ESO on Steam, too.

The key component of that list is it is dominated by consoles. That's why, even though the game still lurches along like a gaspunk steam engine, they will keep moving forward and fixing stuff until they can land on the platforms they want.

Sadly, that's consoles. 5 skills, one radial item use slot and an ultimate has always been for console controllers (all the way back to morrowind).

Before the ZOS/Bethesda defenders chime in... that doesn't mean the stories or games are bad... just the fact of the design.

Morrowind came out on xbox 2-3 years AFTER it was launched on PC, it was a late port. So there goes your argument, sorry

The only sad thing about that list is that EA is not listed once but four times. How EA made it the last decade is beyond me. I wish they stuck to Madden for the console so I never had to fix my GF's computer every month because their games somehow corrupted every electronic device in the house.

The radial is definitely a terrible part of the base UI that feels very console inspired. However having 5 active abilities + an ultimate was a design decision explained years ago when details first started to emerge about the game(before a console version was planned).

ZOS wanted a minimalist UI with streamlined combat where you didn't have countless redundant/extremely situational skills like your average MMO. They want people to have to make decisions about what abilities are most important to them and their build. It has nothing to do with the console release.

It's not from my own personal experience. I've been hooked on this game since my first beta session over a year ago and have no plans of allowing my sub to lapse, ZOS has earned my loyalty.

You obviously haven't played any of them if that's what you think. These are pretty epic games for their day (excepting perhaps SWTOR). I still love Mass Effect 1-3. And no, they didn't. Bioshock is from 2K.

I saw that. Saw people int he first month of this game saying Wild* was going to put WoW out of business and now they can't even find people to play with. I don't play that game but it sounds like its deader than our vet levels where before the change. Of course that's coming from the forums which is probably the worst place to look but still its been past 3 months meaning most likely actual fans are the ones that are left and its not coming from MMO hopping haters so that's disturbing.
