Honestly one of these ZoS employees doesn't have their facts straight. I didn't need to. I read the OP and watched the video. It never says they are removing the VR levels. It says they will get XP instead of VR points. Then it goes into detail about how the champion points will be used to improve abilities like the skill points in Skyrim.

I'd listen to QuakeCon again then, because what was said is that Phase 2 they're going to change how Vet lvls are gained to use normal XP, which also means converting existing Vet lvl progress. Phase 3 they said they're replacing Vet lvls with Champ lvls. They have phase 2 in there to make the conversion easier.
Please post the video and tell us where they say this.
He is right. Threre are three phases for the transition. Im sure if you did some research on your own instead of asking for it all to be hand fed to you, you would be in the know as well.

✭✭I can trek trough Craglorn mobs in purple VR 1 gear using a single-target DPS spec/Healer build. Solo. Is the VR rank REALLY that important and necessary? The way some people talk around here, you'd think VR 12 and full-out legendary quality sets are the be all, end all. But it isn't.
What is the point of VR rank increases? Seriously? I've come to the conclusion it's just there to both wax E-peens, and give people whom require biscuits to feel like they've earned something... to... feel like they've earned something. Only problem here is that those minuscule stat gains, actually do play a part in PvP. So now there will be a larger gap of VR 14 vs. VR 1 - 3s. In these scenarios, the cap will actually mean something. Funny how little incremental stats matter little in one-aspect of the game, but then matter more significantly in another aspect. It's also a bad design move.
What I'm really worried about is the seasonal garbage. Now that is genuine vertical progression, but masked under the illusion of not being grindy. They can sugar-coat it under easy accessibility all they want, but that's besides the point. It's the logical reasoning behind it that irks me. It might be a earth-shattering prospect, but some of us actually like the look of a certain apparel, the bonuses it provides, and it's aesthetics. Thus, some of us do not have this insatiable desire to chase gear and biscuits for some sense of fake achievements. (PvE VR "challenges" are filled with fake difficulty mechanics so go figure.) So now, in order to enjoy end-game, we need to wear a specific seasonal garb.
Do skill and tactics even exist anymore? Or is gear grinds the easy band-aid solution to everything?
Who wants biscuits? Mmm seasonal biscuits.
But I digress... As for this gold mat dilemma, why not better balance it? As of now, you need to spend the minimum of 8 tempers per piece(maxed temper perk) compared to just 4 - 3 - 2 for purple - blue - green respectively. Why the sudden exponential requirement? When the gain is so minuscule?? A full gold set vs a full purple set, is a 5% overall increase at best. This would be ok, if only 5 tempers per piece were required. But for 8 tempers per piece?? The reward just isn't worth that kind of investment.
So, instead of complaining about wasting mats. How about we give ZOS something to work with here? The core of the issue is the expense of Legendary Quality. If the stats are going to remain this minuscule to prevent people with loads of Gold tempers from dominating things, then the temper usage and expense needs to correlate with the other quality incremental increase and expense.Edited by Lord_Hev on August 20, 2014 6:21PM2 -

At the 47th minute of the video (stage 3 discussion) Sage states they are removing the VR requirement for gear. This is as much as needs to be said, because the only thing VR does at this time is dictate what gear you wear. If gear is not VR dependant, then what purpose does a Vet rank serve? None..which is why its being removed. Which is why jess told us this during the live chat.
AA with VR would be the most asinine decision ever.

Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

I hope you are right. But from what I gathered and inferred, that statement was in regards to seasonal gear, and not general stuff.

Well when my V12 Legendary is the same as a V14 BLUE and can't be upgraded any farther, that makes it worthless. I'm done investing in gear till i can confirm it wont be a waste, I'm done with cyrodiil because they refuse to fix exploits, guess that leaves... fishing?
