Is Pvp even fun in this game?

All I hear is you have to use a staff and wear light armor to Pvp. And that it is basically mobs just running around using aoe attacks and Nb kills.. Is this true? I haven't pvped yet but if so I don't think I would.

I play a Templar Heavy Armor/Resto/2H build, and a NB Medium/Bow/DW build, and I have a ton of fun on both characters. I play Pre-Vet on my NB, and VR on my Templar, both are EP side.

Sieging is a blast, provided you can get a group. If you can't, hit and runs work with small groups, or even solo. Yesterday I chipped the whole eastern side of a keep down by myself with a few stone trebs. I felt good about it :P.

If you play with a group PvP can be a very enjoyable experience. It can get a little competitive though.

You don't. I have no character wearing Light Armor, and I do just fine. Of course, if you read the forums, you'll hear otherwise, but if you actually get in game and play, you'll find that you'll also do alright. Of course, you'll suck at first, while you learn though lol.

Just try it out, and see how you like it. It's quite fun, and there are usually plenty of large groups sieging. Just ask in zone.

No, not at all. What people are complaining about the dress/staff players in both PvP/PvE is that the SUPER ELITE HARDCORE ULTRAMEGASUPERDOOPER RAAAAAAAAAAR PvP and PvE guilds or even hardcore solo players won't group with you for Trials or other content unless they know you've got that cookie cutter build that they have that steam rolls everything in an unintended fashion.

So the people you get moaning and crying about "IS LIGHT ARMOR AND STAFF THE ONLY VIABLE OPTION /RAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!" are most likely people that have been dropped from Pick Up Groups for Trials and other content because they weren't a part of the supposed "ultrabadass" cool kids group with their gowns and sticks.

these kinds of players always ruin it for everyone. they'll give you some excuse as to why they think playing this certain way is the only way it's all nonsense.

You're missing out on a good portion of what this game has to offer if you haven't been in Cyrodiil yet. I'd encourage everyone to try it. It costs you nothing but the time you spend there.

As far as what to wear I always see at least one or two people running around half naked so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'll pitch in here with my, oh, h*ll no! I'm a bow wielding Templar vamp rocking a full set of medium armor. And I have tons of fun in Cyrodiil and can quite effectively murder, death, kill.

I think you have a lot more room in PvP to build and play your character exactly how you want it.

The thunderclap when it starts raining now causes me to check the walls of the keep I'm in for incoming siege.

To OP, fun is subjective. However, I run 6 different builds through Cyrodill, only one is dress with a stick, and have had a blast on all of them.

Same - and there's always thunder! Have often paranoidly patrolled lonely the walls of Faregyl since I was postive I heard a ninja siege.

PvP is fantastic in this game. It has some bugs, but you are definitely missing out if you dont give it a shot.

Heavy armor is ok (not quite as bad as it is in PvE), and medium is fine for many builds. Light armor is still better than heavy, but you can still have fun and get into groups with it in PvP.
Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:

I know you didn't mean it, but there's a small amount of irony in your post. : P

In the first sentence, you talk about how people say you have to use a staff / light armor to PvP.

Then in the next sentence, you mention NB kills, which I can only assume you mean the prevalent medium armor bow / melee NBs 2-3 shotting Light Armor wearers from stealth.

W/out even getting into the meat of PvP, I can already tell you that at least some of what you've heard is contradictory and at least some of it is untrue.

It's pretty dull tbh, most of us that are still around are ESO fanboys ( Myself included). AvA pvp is the worst kind of pvp and this game makes it worse by adding OP npcs in it. If this game had 2v2 or 2v2v2 arena this game would be golden... and my swtor guild (65 strong) would come back. As it is only ~20 of us are left, half only logging in once a week or so.

More and more players are starting to use macros, because Zenimax has the "If you can't beat them, join them" outlook. It's becoming a race to press a single key. You could get the same thrill out of a smartphone game. If you're into that, then yeah, it's a blast!
