Greetings all, I’m very new to MMO’s (a noob) you guys call it. I love PC games and usually play only single player. I read your comments on the forum (love it) and at first I was lost by all the terms (AoE, cc, DoT and such) But, I learned the language little by little. Most of the game mechanic/systems are lost to me; I’m a (button masher). I play video games for the joy of games; I’m a kid at heart. I started playing RPG/ D&D (with paper, dice and imagination) in the 6th grade stopping after high school; I’m now 45 years old (ouch). In every game I play, I love the role of the knight/warrior/paladin. You guys call this a (tank). In ESO I naturally gravitated to the dragon knight (7/7 heavy armor). To the knight his greatest enemy is the “spell caster/wizard”. His dark energies ignore armor (spell penetration). The only way for him to survive an encounter is to close the distance (shield charge). In close (melee) the wizard is finished. Make no mistake, the wizard the master of any battle field in the back lines, their power is unmatched, “a true force of nature”. ESO has a different variant; we see the wizard he is all alone. I’m with a group of 3 other knights. At this point the wizard will use teleport (bolt escape) and flee, before his head is severed clean from his trunk. As I assumed, from a distance we can here the familiar crackle of (bolt escape). With complete and utter amazement he materializes within our ranks, a fatal error in trajectory, we laugh. My Standard of Might drops thundering from the sky, Flaming Talons erupt from the earth and hold our prey tightly; angry void metal blades are plunged deep into flesh and bone covered by delicate cloth. (His health bar barely wavers; his hissing inferno staff pounds the ground over and over, flames engulf us , our thick shields are raised, Oh dear Akatosh what is that hellish sound.) That was the sound of swarming vampire bats as they hungrily stripped the flesh from our bones. We peacefully fade to grey, sent off to ESO’s enchanting musical score, the death recap records over 3000 points on sustained damage. (The sorcerer emotes the tangled heap of bodies with a digging shovel). Well played… “Was that the emperor?” I ask my group. “Don’t know” they reply, “all happened too fast.” **Quick fix to the” heavy armor” issue**ESO-- (make a ton of disguises for both armor and weapons, I will gladly wear cloth and carry a staff). Or maybe just do “Skyrim Online” and we can all be on the same playing field. lol. This old man should go back to D&D and stay out of the way of you kids…enjoy.
