THis is exactly my issue... the unfairness of soulgem usage... I like to heal, but I don't feel that this requires me to exhaust my own cache of gems to support this role as it appears to be expected by others to join a group run. I hear this all of the time when I'm group healer... that gee, you're the healer, its your responsibility to spend your gems to rez us.
I try to be diplomatic about it up front, I usually ask what the gem situation is and then the discussion more often than not goes this way.

I'm not sure on the effect of Trials, but I could foresee abuse somehow. I like the idea but color me skeptical that they would screw it up if they implemented this.

Yeah templars get a passive to res people very quickly and have them res with full health and a bunch of magika/stamina. Actually super useful in PvP

Even with a 2 minute timer, that wouldn't stop large groups from mass resurrecting. Having 5 people cast it and instantly have 30 people back on their feet would break PvP more in my opinion. I don't foresee it being abused all that much in PvE, it's PvP that it would have a profound affect. I really like the idea of it, but with how ESO is, I dont know how to balance it.

I guess I can see that being a problem.. maybe balance it further by in addition to a respectable cool down, maybe a prerequisite of needing a certain number of healing abilities in play too?
