"I've been robbed by Zenimax!"
Ok so my discussion title is a bit extreme. I am not completely educated in this subject... but is anyone aware of a game called Hero's Journey? I don't know much about programming and whatnot but I do know that the engine made for HJ is the same engine used to create SWOTR and ESO. Well somehow in the works the idea was scrapped and the rights to the engine was sold. Thus we have ESO. Now I love Elder Scrolls Online. I think its a great game. I think people want Elder Scrolls Online to be a game that it is not. Mind you HJ was supposed to be much much much more intricate than ESO. More freedom with stats and skills. Death would entail another player coming to bring your body back to life. Maybe another player transferring injuries from your body to theirs, healing themselves. I really wanted to see a game with very detailed mechanics. Well here's my look on it. ESO is not exactly what I wanted out of a game. I would have probably been more happy with a coop skyrim mod. That being said.... ESO is still a great game. Anyone I see bashing it seems to be comparing it to another game. WoW being the biggest comparison from what I see. You can only change an MMO so much before they start to fall into a common genre. You should expect to see certain systems implemented in just about every MMO (unless its really groundbreaking). It seems like people are afraid to try new things. Well if that's the case no one is forcing you to play! If you really don't enjoy the game then don't play it. When I was a kid gaming was about having fun. Some people have fun doing math equations. Some do not have fun doing math equations. The people that don't have fun doing math equations don't usually work on equations in their free time. I'd rather respond to the zone chatters this way rather than falling into their sarcasm, arrogance and ignorance. Its too bad they will probably never get on the fourms to read this.
