Endless War - seeds not planting...no fixes or work arounds now work

I have noticed many threads on this subject going back quite a few pages, so it seems it is a BIG bug.
The jist of it - You cannot plant seeds on corpses.

- Ive tried the 'official' work around..change E key bind, abandon quest, etc etc and nothing..
- The unofficial work-arounds where you wait for a soldier character to respawn and then try planting seed on previous killed corpse no longer works as it seems the corpse disappears just before the character respawns making that technique impossible.

frankly these are all techniques that should never be possible if the quest worked correctly.

What makes me laugh is i completed this quest right back near the launch of the game where there was a different bug near the end that was fixed quite fast.

Well well, today respawning was incredibly fast and i was able to use the work around. How come respawn times can vary so much!?!

Mysterious, isn't it? I suppose that's part of the game's charm.

    /sarcasm

Believe me, I've expended a lot of rant energy on this particular problem. I feel your pain. I've said elsewhere that the fact that some of these weird workarounds actually can work--they did for me-- should in and of themselves raise some red flags. They've not fixed it. What can you do?

fully agree with you guys in all points.

i ran into this problem myself today, & i guess it was every bit as frustrating for me as it's been for anybody else running into it before. like i said in zone chat: Cliffs of Failure is, an unpleasantly fitting name for that area. Endless War for that bugged quest is just as fitting. it is just that; an endless struggle against a quest design that obviously missed the mark.

adding to that: maybe it's just statistics... like 1 mob out of... 40? i managed to plant one single seed today, but more out of coincidence & in a mob that was killed by another player. that was when i decided to make a cut. if ninjaing quest stuff from others is a condition for completing this War of Failure, then i'd rather not complete it at all.

it's time we get this fixed. even more so considering how long its problem history already is.

Srugzal - lol...dont worry i guessed it was sarcasm. :)
    - It is so daft having to do those silly work arounds. The fact that when i did this quest with the first character months and months ago, it worked fine! There was a different bug in the quest near the end where the observer wouldn't appear with the watchers. But that was fixed fast.
but this quest bug seems to have dragged on and on.

...another peculiar detail on that topic i just remembered:

the killed mobs you're supposed to plant seeds in; they typically have items on them that would normally get looted. you can tell by the green aura. however, it's (mostly) impossible to loot soldiers' corpses when the quest Endless War is active. the default action for a killed Heritance soldier in Cliffs of Failure with that quest active seems to be not to loot them, but to plant seeds in them.

just a guess: it's possible that the game is supposed to wait for a player to loot the corpse 1st, & allow planting the seed next. if the quest itself prioritizes seed planting over looting (as it obviously does), this leads to an endless loop between conditions that exclude each other. that can't be resolved in a standard situation. only an error ie, game/quest not working properly, would lead to a solution.

i can also remember at least one similar quest with similar problems: charging general Nuramil's dagger on Stormfist corpses, final part of the Eastmarch storyline. the quest worked, but error messages kept coming whenever the quest item was used.
