Motifs drop rate stealth nerfed again ?

Sure. If you think that the plural of "anecdote" is data.

Two of you not receiving as many motif drops since the patch is not confirmation that they aren't dropping at the same rate. It's reasonable to assume that if a container has a chance to drop an epic item that an increased recipe drop rate may decrease the epic motif drop rate at the same time. However, we have no confirmation that this is what's happened.

just try to farm a motif and u have your own confirmation.

I sometimes play on a connection that is not good enough to actually go out and fight so I just farm containers in my V9 zone. Since 1.33 I found one Deadric motif. I have found seven purple recipes in that time. I don't keep count of the exact number of containers but I would think over a thousand easily.

I know I've had weeks between rare drops, and then I've had 5 in an hour, all during the same patch cycle. Random is random.

Lol no you didn't after a lot of testing I'm100% certain that upon your first purple recipe or motif dropping even if you didn't pick it up you would have triggered a cool down.
The cool down currently seems somewhere between 2 and 5 hours so 5 in one hour I call bs.
As for the op I thought the same thing but they haven't been. The problem is in a vet zone container now there are only 2 motifs you could drop and 6 recipes that could drop any one of which will trigger the above cool down.
Compared to before where the purple recipes where not in the loot.

I never find purple anything but it does seem there are a lot of empty containers around lately.

I'd wait for more evidence before coming to a conclusion about the drop rates though. Seems like every patch there are people who like to sound the alarm in zone chat so they can get people to pay inflated prices on the stuff they're selling.

I swear ESO somehow knows instantly when I think quietly to myself "I think I'm gonna farm a bit" because suddenly a majority of the containers suddenly become empty. =/

I was farming a V4 public dungeon and normally don't bother with chests. Hit E over one on accident when looting a pile of corpses and there was a barbaric.

Looked up on reddit and saw some saying average price was 15-18k but I let it go for 14 since it was all one person had. Finally got my light horse, though; thanks to that random drop and the cheap respecs last week not leaving me broke. I'm going to go farm that same dungeoun later and see if I get any more.

Could have sworn I had posted in this the other day... oh well. Anyways I haven't found a single Motif Book since the first month of Release. Trust me I've been looking and looking, and haven't had a single one drop once since Release so something has to be off, or I am extremely extremely unlucky.

On another note I did finally find my first Purple VR Recipe the other day within 5mins of logging.

But yeah doesn't matter that they don't drop for me anymore since I already decided to just buy the missing ones I needed. I'm just happy that I can now craft every single style in the game now.

No it's definitely down, might even be non-existent for VR5 motifs. If there is a chance, it feels about the same as the former purple recipe chance now (as in, don't see them at all). It's like the coder guy just swapped out the "chance" slot for purple recipes to VR5 motifs.

I have accumulated 1000 lockpicks from opening boxes post 1.3 and I have looted 0 Motifs. I have looted 2 epic recipes though.

Hows that for some data. Must be a coincidence right?

Found 3 epic VR5 recipies thusfar, no motifs. Although I did manage to trade one of them for an Imperial motif yesterday, was the only one I still needed. :D Now that I've read this topic, it feels like a good trade I must say!

Where do you People find all these motifs? Back around release the "base" motifs would show up frequently in the desks in the Daggerfall and Vulkhel Guard banks, and I got a Nord motif in one of the solo Dungeons in Eastmarch once (very useful when my character is a Nord...) but apart from that haven't seen one drop for ages...

Hmm. Motifs may just have changed spawn points. Yesterday I found one in a random small urn in Bleakrock. I have found no motifs lately at all in the places where they used to spawn like crazy (desks and nightstands).

If they wanted to stop people from farming them, it would be a good move to spread them out to be all over the place like that. But in that case, why do the purple recipes still drop in the easy farming spots?

Have only found two rare up to level 5 last is long ago but has not been farming for a long time.
However i found a nord motif yesterday searching a trunk while we was doing low level group dungeons.

As other say they are rare drops, say 1/300-1000 chance for each container checked.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Of course the real problem is finding motifs and recipes in "civilized" containers instead of off of mob drops; the whole idea of motif/recipe/map farming by looting town containers is ridiculous. Hi I am doing awesome adventuring by looting peoples kitchen cabinets and underwear drawers.

BUT ZoS has never bothered to fix the basic issue where they would drop elsewhere in sufficient numbers. I have never found a motif except by looting in civilized areas and my farming was haphazard at best.

I'm pretty sure I have got a green recipe off a kill. I only remember ever getting one and it was only green. I would be 100% for them adding motif and recipes to the loot tables of mobs instead of out of cabinets.

This was stated in one of the patch notes few months ago after Motifs drop rate were fixed (there was no drop what so ever for some time, bcoz all containers was always open and empty).
This were stated as "The rate at which you can obtain Racial Motifs have been slightly reduced".
This ofc was a pure lie and appear to be about 2 hours (SLIGHTLY ?!?!?) cool down whih lead you to inability to loot any kind of Motif (no matter if it is rare or regular) for the duration. Also it seems that cool down doesnt goes down while you offline.
Same mechanics like loot from Delve and Public Bossess but with longer cooldown.

I've gotten motifs from shacks/houses in "uncivilized" parts. The general rule seems to be that a motif can be found in domestic containers, regardless of where they appear in the world. But just to clear up some over-generalizations in your post:

    - Motifs and style materials tend to drop from trunks/cabinets/wardrobes/dressers/etc.
    - Ingredients and recipes can drop in all of those, and also in crates/sacks/cupboards/barrels.
    - Treasure maps can only drop from locked chests.

Treasure maps are now also can drop from Domestic container like Motifs.
Got 6 of them while were farming Motifs and Recipes.

It definitely got nerfed or it's broken.

I have a spot where I get Daedric and Ancient Elf on the regular. Prior to 1.3.3 I could get 1 of these motifs per hour. Post 1.3.3 I have yet to see a single vet motif. Since then I have got several purple recipes, yet no motifs. I thought it was just me, but after 2 days of straight farming and over several thousand containers, I have yet to get one.

As I said before, like clockwork I could average 1 motif per hour prior to 1.3.3.

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ please look into this.

opened 400 containers now (yes I've been keeping count) and not a single rare motif !

While doing a little farming for a purple food recipe for myself I got 3 purple drink recipes, 1 ancient elf motif and then a purple food recipe.

Others I have talked to who have done farming was others who sold purple drink recipes to find out a decent price to set on them as their quite worthless compared to food recipes. some of those people do a lot more farming than me and found quite a lot of rare motif alongside their recipe farming.

I found a motif in a urn in a dungeon ones, might also found one in a trunk in a dungeon.
However you mostly find them in towns as they have lots of the container types who drop motifs.
And I agree they would be better from random drop from bosses,
Recipes fits in town chests as you get most food ingredients from them
