@Welka, I think I'd be a fan of this if using the tools allowed you to refine/gather more effectively/efficiently. Bring the Axe, get +1 raw wood, for instance. I don't care for the idea of not being able to harvest if you do not posses the tools.

This actually seems reasonable. If it was something you had to equip and gave you a bonus.
@eventide03b14a_ESO‌ , my character actually has a small pouch on his side. Perhaps that's due to extra slots purchased.

My VR has an upgraded little magical attache case in place of the pouch.

These are visible at the login screen. I don't know if they are visible in game.

I have not seen anything like that except what is included with some of the armor sets. The Breton robes for instance have a pouch on them.

Because I should have to RP to craft, right? No.

The only way you have enough bank space for all crafting materials is if you 1. don't actually craft for a profit and need significantly less materials 2. spent a *** on bank space.

Absolutely agree with you, but I don't think I agree with you on the solution at all. I'd rather my skills be more useful, not more convoluted.

Imagine how great a skill line like blacksmithing would be if the only place you could ever acquire a great weapon was by making the great weapon, or buying it from another in-game blacksmith.

Imagine how awesome alchemy would be if no potions ever dropped and you had to brew your own or *gasp* buy brewed potions off of other players. Best of all, would be where ingredients for the best potions could only be found on tough enemies or dropped off bosses.

Make these skills more useful, not more tedious, please.

alchemy is already like this, most of the potions don't drop anywhere. The ones that do are inferior.

Crafting sets aren't bad either, though I worry they will not be able to keep up with the never-ending stream of gear treadmilling in our foreseeable future.

Nr 1 is definitely true but nr 2 is definitely debatable.

But that's not the point here. The thread is about craft system. And I don't think carrying an axe to chop wood is forcing people to RP. I liked the idea of letting people harvest with no tools, but people choosing to carry one with them would give them a chance to drop more of it.

Tools slot was a nice suggestion too.

I think that maybe IF this were to be implemented I wouldlike there to be dedicated slots for equiping each harvesting tool like in Guild Wars 2. Oh and the plant tool is called a sickle.
Pretty much this. GW2 had an interesting tool system with the unlimited ones being purchased from the game store (alongside being unlimited they were visually different). Ultimately I don't see this happening but it would add another layer of depth to the game I suppose.

This isn't more about realism, this about adding depth to crafting and harvesting, for those who enjoy this.

And again, no troll or satire! I do all crafts, collect every node I see and I don't struggle with space, you just need to get that some manage their inventory very well.
So basically you're saying "Because I only craft for a single character (my own) and I therefore only keep materials of an appropriate level for that one character, everyone else must do the same and if they struggle with inventory space it's their own fault."

Fine, except this is an MMO. Many of us craft for friends and/or guild members and/or to sell items and/or for our alts. For many of us keeping only mats of a particular level isn't an option. In fact, I'd venture to say that most crafters are not crafting for a single character only.

You need to understand that not everyone plays an MMO as if it was a single player game.

it is not even remotely debatable. Start using crafting for an income and see how much bank space you end up with.

I need, at the very least, the materials for all vet ranks. for 6 crafts.

The amount of money you have to dump into the bank for this to be possible is prohibitive at best.

This. Just about everyone who insists there's plenty of bag and bank space in pretty much every single thread on the issue has admitted when asked either they are only making items for one character, or they skip crafts that are resource intensive like alchemy. Of course the current inventory system works fine for them! It doesn't invalidate the experience of the rest of us.

As for extra tools- it might be fun if we can kill the mobs guarding the nodes with them. I would enjoy swinging a scythe at a sabre cat.

Yes you have a point. I admit.

But this isn't about bank storage, it's just about me finding harvesting and crafting a bit bland, a bit too easy

I think it would be cool if I could pick to have my axe/sickle/pick-axe visible on my character while I explore. Or even if we could have a vanity back pack that I could pretend housed those items (although I kind of already do that with my horses saddle bags).

No, I don't want to have more junk taking up valuable carrying space. I don't need another gold sink forcing me to have to buy this junk either.

    It's fine as it is.

If you want a challenging, time consuming crafting profession that takes ages to level up, try enchanting.

You obviously need to manage your inventory better ;)

Like I said, I do all craft, I'm far from having maxed out my bank space and I don't struggle for space.

And you obviously find it normal to magically pop out a pick axe out of thin air when you harvest minerals. Makes so much more sense then having to carry on while harvesting ;)

You want realism and immersion? Think about this for a minute. You can't complain about immersion and things "magically appearing" when your character doesn't even carry a visible bag. If they did, do you know how big it would have to be to fit all that junk in?

Just had visions of cyrodiil with 100s of heavy armour warriors all dragging a blanket behind them with all their stuff :)

This game isn't so boring that I feel the need to spend my time worrying about tools, upgrading tools, and making new tools for alts.

This game isn't so polished that devs should waste time putting in minor systems to change one of the few areas of the game that has no problems, only causing greater divide in the player base.

The capacity issue is more about specific character space than bank space. A VR12 who uses a fast mount (no capacity upgrades) and who carries multiple weapons/armor for different builds and siege equipment doesn't have the luxury of carrying a full set of crafting tools.

I'm confused as to how Welka claims to have enough space with all that... Enchanting alone is around 50 different runes. Provisioning? At least another 50 (never got into it, so not sure) Then the gear crafts? 9 ranks of material, 4 tempers, switching between raw/refined...that's another 58 slots minimum if you always have less than a stack. Then throw in possible use of other weapons/gear sets, trait research materials... you're definitely pushing the 300 slots of items window.

    *shrugs* just my two cents.

Where I live, it's a spade. It's a gardener's tool. Looks kinda like a small scoop/shovel. Where my grandmother lives, however, it's called a hand shovel, so guess there's no real name for it.
