Lol I hate palying my suppsedly sneaky class. Cloak does not work. In pve the mobs follow u till u pop back up then they smash u. In pvp it rarely works to help get away. I remember when I could pop cloak and use surprise atttack for a stun. This hasn't worked for me since patch. So I switched to being a nb healer in pvp. So sad. If someone has a great pvp speck let me know. What skills and gear to use would be awesome. Lol at op

Guys, what are we doing? Most of us are biased because we are nightblades. Can we not try to see his side of the story? I can see what he's talking about and we should understand this and except a nerf on an already bugged class...

I actually like seeing it from the other side in PvP.

That is to say, I like when other Nightblades use Cloak, and I pop a Detection Potion and see them anyway.

Exactly. It has a weakness. That and Piercing mark or mages light works just fine. It's not overpowered considering it doesn't even do damage or work properly half the time.

pah take my invis, silly spell never works anyway, took it off bar for more usefull ability. Atm my main fun in AvA is wearing my speed suit, sniping some zerg (or running in burning a treb) then stelth and running off again, while i watch several enemy run around like idiots, searching the area they last saw me.

This gave me hrs of fun lastnight.

Nerf invisi on nightblades? Man, it's been done in version 1.0, update your client. Invisibility now makes you spend MP to be visible. Skill rocks, it was way too OP before 1.0

This has to be a troll post...you can't be serious OP...? as a NB, I've watched other classes just DOMINATE in PvP and PvE. If I can open up and drop one dude before being blasted nearly instantly by spamming AoEs I'm happy.

I kind of used two builds. I usually just use 7 medium or 5 medium and 2 light, but if things get too tough I switch to 7 heavy or 6 heavy and 1 light.

I use a shield and sword and my abilities are:
Inner light//sap essence//absorb magic//volcanic rune//siphoning attacks-veil of blades.

I don't ever use the volcanic rune apart from having a little fun sometimes (think it's freaking hilarious how the enemies fly).

I have inner light and siphoning attacks on the whole time. I just block the whole time and use sap essence as much as I can until I get my ult up. I pop ult and then continue to use sap essence.
Absorb magic is great because it gives me much better block mitigation and lowers the cost of blocking to next to nothing. It also gives me invincibility against mages (provided I'm not stupid and run out of stamina).

I did get out of a pretty bad situation by spamming cloak last night before the interval was up. I didn't expect it to happen since like people said it's buggy and easily breakable. I can see where the OP is coming from but nightblades are supposed to be slippery and shadow cloak (and is morphs), to me, is the class's bread and butter skill. Good nightblades escape by using it and following a path back to friendlies. Great nightblades escape and cause chaos with the skill by taking a less obvious path to safety and getting a kill (which is what I dio more often than not)

All in all the skill, while buggy, gives nightblades survivability. DK has green dragons blood. Tempers have their heal spam. Sorcs have bolt escape. And nightblades have cloak. If you want to nerf cloak nerf the other skills as well and we all know what happens when you nerf everything into the ground.

Having trouble with nightblades cloaking out? Easiest way to counter them is to play as nightblade yourself and applying piercing mark.

This is not a loaded question, i'm just asking because there are a lot of NB's here and I need to make an alt at some point.

Is it possible to make a strong PvP NB build that does not use cloak or any in combat stealth? I'm talking middle of the battlefield, out in the daylight, killing and living kind of PvP. Or is every function of the NB entirely dependent on stealthing to work as a class.

Sub optimal in that you are more likely to die due to the lack of the possibility of stealth escape, or that you may kill less,? edit insert. Or that the class is so depend on stealth that it needs it to do both?

Both...nightblades, at least how I play them, rely on a burst opener to apply a soft stun and high damage from stealth so without that you might as well play a different class. They also have no instant self heal, just a dot heal, that in order to escape conflict cloak is your main tool.

So I guess to summarize if you're playing a nightblade and not using cloak you're doing it wrong and might as well play a different class.

Stealth is not necessary for NB to do damage on the battlefield. I myself usually don't use stealth for purposes of killing, since I play caster NB and I stand in the middle of the battlefield (but behind the tanks). However, if you're playing as a bow-wielding ganker, then stealth adds a lot to your damage.

However, the best function of Dark Cloak is that it removes DOT effects on you. There's so many fire damage effects on the battlefield that it would be silly to ignore the function of Dark Cloak altogether.

You can optimize Nightblade for many things. I have 2 nightblades. My caster with cloak(main) and my alt which is a sword and board tank. From my experience, you can use nightblades for just about any situation. You don't have to use Shadowy Disguise if you don't want to as I don't on my tank. Instead, if you throw in some skills from the Siphoning skill tree, they make amazing tanks to where even Dark cloak becomes irrevelant(even with a DoT on you).

Aside from being buggy, cloak already has many effective counters. There's the spell crit boost that just so happens to be able to detect invisible enemies. There's a potion that anyone can make, as it is effective at any level of alchemy skill. Any aoe (or even dot) can break it, and have you seen the size of the aoe on calthrops? If an enemy places that in a good spot, you might as well completely forget about stealth.

I hope you made this thread to farm lols, because that's all you are going to get.

CRAP!!!! I am new in PVP and all my nightblade tactics involved invisibility skill. I was like, hit disappear, hit again and so on.... So that doesn't work?
