For Eltheric Grouper, I may have a theory

Can i get people's answers for people getting/not getting it?

Were your autoloot off/on?

To start, I have autoloot on and after 800 cast with worms, still no Eltheric Grouper.

have got it and auotloot off~

it's proboly just luck cause i've gone through like 1k crawlers trying to get the slimeslither in reapers march.. where as when i fished with someone they got it on like the third cast.. took me a week. finally got it though~

Four possible explanations why I got it today but wasted 600 worms and only got the no-loot-when-having-a-catch bug 2 days ago:

1) It was impossible to catch an Eltheric Grouper in the initial update 1.3.3. but this was fixed in the patch that also fixed the guild problems.
2) Stros M'kai fishing has an incorrect loot table with many rare fish entries that are empty. You need to be very lucky to get the right rare fish entry which contains an Eltheric Grouper. (This would mean that I was extremely lucky today.)
3) A werewolf related bug was the reason why I couldn't catch an Eltheric Grouper (I was a werewolf until yesterday).

I have no idea which one it is, I'm just glad I finally got the achievement now ^^

I can confirm this, you need to use Chub to get the achievement and using anything else grants nothing.

I used Chub at fishing spot northeastern way shrine of Stros M'Kai. Got it the second try. I don't know if this helps.

Can I get a check on if guts are dropping post-today's-hotfix?

Found no mention in the patch notes or hotfix notes! :C

Just to clarify something. You can get some of the fishing achievements. The ones that are bugged currently (don't know about since the most recent patch) are the starter island ones (all three starter islands). They aren't bugged in the sense that the fish is uncatchable, they're bugged in the sense that when you do catch it, you don't get the achievement.

Other achievements you can actually get provided you catch all the fish for that achievement. Some areas are missing fishing holes to catch certain types of fish last I checked too.

Yeah if you don't know then don't spread misinformation. The starting island achievements do work now. The only things still bugged are guts droprate, Stros M'Kai's weird loot table, and the Coldharbour list still has the Reaper's March green fish in it (you can still get the achievement by getting the green fish in Reaper's March, they count for both RM and Coldharbour).

i have now completed fishing in all areas~ got my master fisher achivement last night~ so all fish are possible just takes a long time lol

Don't have to be rude about it. I saw folks in the thread saying that the fish were uncatchable pre-patc and I was just correcting that with what I did know. I even stated the information was only prior to the patch to avoid spreading misinformation.

Ohhhh, talking mudcrabs... Khajiit is now a manx.

This one read the patch notes which were just released, found no mention of bait drops being fixed, and decided to use one's own tail in place of a sample of guts. Unfortunately for khajiit, this one did not catch a delicious fish, but instead caught a dreugh and is now seeking compensation from Zenimax for the loss of her tail.

Heartless Zenimax! Ohhh, how Khajiit misses her long, shapely tail! This is what happens when Zenimax ignores fishing! Khajiit dance about doing crazy things, as if the moons had disappeared from the sky altogether!

I can't wait till they

a) put in a fun mini game for fishing (the current one is a wtf)
b) have fish be actually useful (maybe allow a new type of food that can be eaten along with drinking and eating called 'appetizer'. For some reason, on this world, it is always made of fish. You can get bonuses from all three food, drink and appetizer at the same time. Fishing will take off and go gang busters I think).
c) get some housing so that the fishermen can hang up all these trophy fish.

(Note, I'm not into fishing myself but I think these changes are pretty basic, aside from the housing but otherwise, what is the point of a trophy?)

That is because a tail is mostly bones you silly Khajiit! Not like guts at all! I suggest you gut a Bosmer, or if you are looking for fancier fish... an Altmer. Bigger guts equal a bigger fish. The tenants of Alchemy cannot be disputed!

I just wanted to add an updated experience to this thread for any trying to complete the Eltheric Grouper in Stros M'kia. I used 200 worms and got nothing but the missing loot animation for what I believe should have been a rare fish. I then switched to the chub that has been suggested here and caught a Eltheric Grouper in 20 tries.
