Bard Class

torstenb16_ESO8
I really would like to see in the future a Bard class like a little bit in the good old dark Age Of Camelot. A real supporter who can give lots of mana, stamina buffs and lots of other buff songs to group members. Damage can be done with a fire frost horn to level, or mezz some groups for a minute or something, or place fire places to get great buff foods.Suport classes and stunning and get great buffs from others is boring at the moment. A real support class is missing. These mixx classes are boring and there a only 5 slots, at the moment you dont get much or bad buffs from group members, because they use the slots for other things.

Only issue would be this game isn't set up to be support friendly. Its Dps, dps with shields, and healers who can kind of dps. Sounds like you want Archeage kind of set up.

I consider this one of the games failings , its rudimentary group mechanics and actually makes it quite boring and predictable in group content.

I would prefer to see a bard with a bit more flexibility, perhaps a support tree, a healing tree, and a DPS tree, but I would like having a bard class option.

I imagine they will add a class at some point, but I haven't a guess as to what type of class it will be or when it might come along,

They said not too long ago that there are no plans for a bard class. I would love to see one also.

Any class can play support...Go with resto staff and spec your class skills and everything else to support it. More roles would be nice but, honestly, they havent exactly done a bang up job balancing the few we have now.

Since I once fell in love with the old-style LOTRO Lore-master (which, back in SOA, surely was a p.i.t.a. to level, but boy, did the class shine in the Rift, and in the raids thereafter), I guess I would madly fall in love with a supporting Bard class (debuff, mezz, replenish), too. Alas, if only the game's group play combat style would encourage it!

I already sometimes go into Deshaan and pick random victims to follow around for a half hour with /lute. I am the bard class.

Would rather have a bard college where can all get the bard skill trees.

I've always liked the Bard class. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible for a MMO to truly get it right (not for lack of trying). The problem is that in order for their buffs to be significant enough to benefit a whole party, then their own ability to fight in combat has to be severely gimped to prevent over balance. EQ/EQ2 were the only MMOs to get it right IMHO.

This would be outstanding. It would let anyone have access to the support abilities.

I kind of play my character as a bard. I would rather see a guild skill line than an actual class.

That would probably be the best way to implement the Bard. As well, Bard College skills would also have to be Channeled and non-stackable skills. Bard skills should take you out of combat, need protection, require stamina, but give substantial buffs. I mention non-stackable because there needs to be a mechanism to prevent 3 bards juicing one combatant to crazy levels of immunity or damage dealing.

There is no bard like the original EQ Bard.

And I say that having also loved the DAoC Bard and Minstrel. EQ2 bards were cool too but I wasn't, in the end, a huge fan of the game in general.

In the dictionary next to "MMO Bard" there's a picture of an EQ bard. One of the all-time best implementations of any class in any game, IMO.

Yup. The EQ2 Bard suffered compared to the EQ Bard because it was harder (if not neigh impossible) to juggle their skills. Though I really did like the Dirge class in EQ2.
