Almost worked. Updated to 90% and then error. Am now doing the same I do every patch day. Repair... which then turns into complete re-install.
No more sub from me. Premium price does not warrant such a bad implementation of a good game.

@beeriod I've experienced issues with this IP 54.243.115.56 (launcher.bethesda.net), all the other IP's used by the installer/updater gives 100% positive results. Can you test the IP above, i.e. Start > Run > cmd > ping 54.243.115.56
I had to run Repair several times before the patch finally got installed correctly.

Had the same issue on this patch, all in all a 30 or so gig had to be downloaded by the client to get the game working.

Took 2 days get back on.

Terrible patch roll for me and all I did was click on update.

Here are a couple of steps you can take to solve this problem.

First, Right Click on the launcher and go to Properties.
From there, go to the compatibility tab. If you have Windows 8, click in the Compatibility box and select Windows 7.
At the bottom of the screen, check the box for "Run As Administrator".
Hit Apply, then Ok.
Then Right Click on the Launcher and go to "Run As Administrator."
The game should now download any updates and install them. Once that completes, Play the game.

If that doesn't work, you can try the following:

Go to our webpage and download a new copy of the installer.
Once the installer is on your computer, Right Click on it and go to "Run As Administrator".
Make sure that you check to install the VC++ and DirectX.
Once the launcher finishes installing, it should go ahead and update your game.
After the update finishes, the game should run.

I am running windows 7 and all ways run this game as admin and have to re-download the entire thing every major update. Hopefully this update will last untill my sub runs out

Thanks @ZOS_HugoP this worked for me. Is there any way that you could put this information in this support article? I found that support article before submitting a support ticket and it didn't help. I unfortunately didn't find this thread until after I submitted the support ticket, however.

Edit: and I got a really fast reply (probably only 1/2 hour after I submitted it) on my support ticket detailing the same steps to fix this, so that's good.

I got this after the major update - but if I ignored it, I could log in okay. Just closing the Error meant I could press play. Not sure if that would cause any issues in game... But it did download something before it gave the error... so maybe not.

I would say feel free to contact me if you need any information... but I can't really say any more than I did here!

Nope, tried all of the above, doesn't work. Downloaded new installer and pointed it to old installation and didn't work. Tried creating a completely new installation and same thing.

EDIT: Out of frustration after doing all of the above I went back and tried the original launcher link and it worked first time. As someone mentioned above, doesn't sound like it's on our end of things.....

I have this same error and have done all the things suggested. Does not matter how good a game is if it does not work. If this is what I have to look forward to after every maintenance then I doubt I will continue subscription. That makes me sad.

Exactly the same here.

Ping times out but tracert gets into a loop - there's a fouled up router somewhere causing a circular path.

Actually, disregard. ICMP has clearly been disabled on the routers. That'll give that result.

Didn't resolve as such but multiple restarts has allowed me to patch successfully.

Microsoft Security Essentials is causing this manifest error for me. Disabling it allows the game to patch normally - I had the same issue last patch as well. It's not telling me it's blocking anything or has found anything, but seeing how many people have problems with Avast, I tried disabling it on a whim and hey, presto!

I've just done the exact same thing =.= I've managed to getting it working now after following the suggested steps and then having to click Repair 3 or 4 times before it actually started patching

I tried running the launcher as admin, but it still gave me the same error after repairing...
Then I deleted the 'bethesda launcher version' file as suggested by Jaspericus.

It worked ! Problem solved (for me...)

Requiring users to disable firewalls and antivirus software and run a buggy binary with elevated privileges is asking for trouble. At the very least, please tell people to reset the launcher to run with regular user privileges after the update.

That Did not work for me. And running as admin does not work.... I will try to download again but some how I feel this will not solve it for me either. Problem is most likely on the ESO server.

PS: I have no tried to download a new launcher several times and still does not work. I should mention that it could not repleace some of the files and show error message so I had to remove the Launcher foulder but still does not work. After multiple tries

Deleting the "version" file and restarting the launcher worked the fifth time I tried it. At least the patch is downloading now. I don't know why I tried multiple times, as one popular definition of idiocy is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, but I guess I have been accustomed to every piece of Windows software behaving in a more or less random fashion.

I just started my client up, it seems to be downloading fine now. I got a feeling the Metfile thing is some random bug on their end which sometimes affects you and sometimes does not. Weird as heck.

Again, as it was before, this is AFTER I did it already.

Nothing works... I have tried to delete the version file now 20 times and still does not work. God damn good advices, not.

PS: Also tried every thing else mention above and several times.

PPS: Can it be that I use a Swedish version of Windows 7 that *** up the launcher?

After todays patch, I had the same error code, but got lucky with the repair option. My boyfriend also had same error code today, repairing did not work, neither did deleting the Bethseda launcher version file in launcher folder. It seems to be a problem with the EU patch server itself.
