PVE/PVP options for Justice System /Criminal guilds

No I want only PVP consequences in the new justice system and criminal guilds.
I love TES as much as the next guy, but this is Elder Scrolls Online - not TESVI. The Justice System is being designed and implemented to encourage "real" interaction and consequences between players in a massively multiplayer setting, as it should be.

Why do you care if the guard making you pay for your crimes is a player or a NPC?

*DING DING DING DING DING DING*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More eloquent words have not been spoken this week than from pinstripesc. MMO. Not TESVI. Thats coming to a console near everyone sometime in the next couple years. Meanwhile THIS is TESO, an MMO which will soon include the Justice System!

Looking forward to finding out more facts from the devs about this exciting new content that is coming to this MMO: TESO...in the Justice System!

Browsing through the thread I again see a lot of hate towards a group of players which were always one of the target groups by the Devs- the pvp crowd.

The Developers always had a strong pvp community in mind, that's why they came up with the pvp ranking system, Cyrodil and now the Justice system.

ESO combines the essential parts of Ultima Online and DAOC in regards of pvp and a lot of people bought ESO because of that.

I find it hard to understand that "pve only" players now find this problematic, especially since all of this is actually voluntary. Nobody has to fight at Cyrodil, nobody has to become a criminal either - people can stay away from all of this if they want to.

Just like pvp players can stay away from Trials and dungeons.

Since 2 centuries MMOs had pve and pvp parts combined and even if you played on a pve server, you still had to accept that by committing a crime such as killing NPCs, attacking other players - you were tagged for pvp. This is a common thing since years, yet at ESO people try to find flaws in this, so that they can suddenly be immune to the consequences of their own doings.

To me all of this hate and silly posting and making of biased polls doesn't lead anywhere. Its the same 5 or 6 people in every thread and the sad thing is, they do drag other pve players within all of this by spreading lies and false assumptions.

Not only do they talk bad about pvp players so that inexperienced pve players might really believe the lies about camping of quest npcs, constant griefing at the bank etc. no they also critize every good idea by the Devs.

In my opinion the Justice system is highly needed to breath some life into this game. Nothing was more fun than defending a town at Ultima or to fight back a bunch of criminals at Stormwind during Vanilla.

We do need dynamic events on the server, to get into a town and to witness a fight is what makes MMOs so interesting. Its all about player interaction and I am sorry to say this but if you don't like this then MMOs are sadly not for you.

For the record, I clicked the wrong button on this poll and I can't undo it.

I have played a number of MMOs that still had PvP flagging for attacking guards, npcs, crime, etc even if you were in a PvE server. The honest truth was most of those MMOs it wasn't a problem because there was little reward for doing those things, so you just never did them if you didn't want PvP.

The example I give is WoW, if only because so many are familiar with it. If you were on a PvE server, there were little to no rewards for raiding Stormwind. You would get honor, but all that was used for was getting PvP stuff, and if you never PvP then it does nothing for you. You didn't get the King of Stormwind's weapons or armor, not even as cosmetic options for your actual gear. Later when they introduced achievements, you got one and a title I think, for killing the leader of the opposing faction. And if you didn't PvP, you probably didn't care about that achievement or the title. I don't know how it works now, they changed the game so many times over the years.

My point being, other than a self congratulatory pat on the back there was no appreciable difference in what you obtained as a player.

Let me guess, you want PVE consequences because you can outsmart an NPC but you're afraid a real person will hunt you down? Stop right there, criminal scum!

Actually more of my characters are likely to be guards. I only have one that I would consider making a thief or assassin at this point. Just like I never jumped on the WW or Vamp bandwagon, and currently have one character that is infected with either.

Again it is you that does not seem to understand that fighting with other players is not fun for a majority of the MMO population. I have fun fighting with guards, and running away from them because I know it is not another person. I do not have fun fighting other people because I do not want to fight other people, it is not enjoyable. This is no different than some people like to play paintball while others simply do not ever want to play paintball.

Which is why the system needs to have consent for PVP punishment and give the option for PVE punishment. You keep saying it is consequence free if it is PVE only, when in fact it never has been consequence free in any TES game which have only been PVE and never PVP. If I want to be a bad criminal I am prepared to pay the PVE consequences, but I have absolutely no desire to play PVP. It is not not up to YOU to decide that I will have fun if I PVP, nor that I have to be a good criminal that never gets caught if I do not want to PVP.

The bold portion is the main issue I have with anti-PvPers. At least one of you half-way admitted it. Now, if you all would just admit the main reason why you feel this way. You have an advantage against AI and are equal to other players. That's why a lot of people hate PvP and it's sad.

There already is a PvE option in the system as described. You only are flagged for PvP when your bounty is high enough (and bounties are localized, meaning a bounty in Riften won't flag you for one in Stonefalls). So until then you can flee or fight the guards or pay off your bounty. If you go on a murder/thieving spree and are reckless enough to get caught, well, that extra challenge and reward should result in extra challenge and risk, namely PvP.

They also don't want anyone that doesn't think/play like they do to have anything that they don't get.

I honestly hope they make thieves guild and dark brotherhood skill line progression require pvp.

The passive-aggressive PVE'rs who have been lol'ing every dissenting post in this thread are now free to lean on that lol button.

The more and more I read these threads, the more caustic it seems to get. Those on one side of the argument or another hoping that the system some how goes just their way and for no other reason than they know it would *** off the other side. That is wholly and completely mature. I realize this is the internet where everything is essentially anonymous and people can troll with abandon with little to no repercussions that can't be worked around. But lets show some maturity and realize that not everyone is going to agree with you. Lets have at least some level of decorum that shows we can have a civil discourse, argument, and/or debate without resorting to the kindergarten equivalent of calling some one a 'doodie head'.

There should at least be some level of criminality that i can reach with only PVE consequences. Being l33t stomped 2 seconds after accidentally stealing a muffin from a barrel would be uncool.
