Apology and request for patience

I can tell you one thing for true, no woman past the age of 30 will ever lie about her age to increase it. If a woman admits she is over 40 you can believe her. If she admits she is over 60 you can gamble your life on it.

And what others have said is entirely true, at 67 I have exactly the same interests, feelings and opinions with a few modifications that I had at 30, although my joints do not agree.

Never miss a Elder Scrolls game or any of the Fallouts, Assassin's, or Splinter Cells and (horrors to admit) I am a devoted player of WoW.

The apology should really be going the other way. Being an elitist prat over a computer game just suggests that the other player shouldn't interact with human beings until he's grown up a bit more. It's usually a sign of an unfulfilled life on their part rather than a screw up on yours.

l would have thought that such an old and experienced crowd as you guys should be used with the phenomenon of the angry leet kidz by now? How come you still get provoced by it?

If you noticed, not many [if any] people posted angry replies. We don't get provoked by the immature "leet kidz"; most of us just shake our heads and go on about our business. You didn't get any angry replies, just matter of fact statements; older players, male and female, are really out there, really participating on the forums, and really playing the game.

Fortunately, I've run most of my dungeons with people who understand that feces occurs and, when things went all sideways and pear-shaped, kept a good attitude about it all.

If your feces is coming out all sideways and pear-shaped, you need more than a good attitude!

I wouldn't even let it get to you. It's probably some 14 year old kid who's life revolves around the game. I give you props for your age, I think it's great the older generation is still kicking A** and taking names. Keep it up and who ever said that isn't someone I would want to associate with either. Some people need to be a little less competitive and get back to how games started. Not to be a total a**hat and freak out every time someone doesn't do what you were expecting them to do but get back to when they were fun! When ever I find my self getting worked up over a game (which is very rare but it happens to everyone) I shut it off, start up my SNES emulator and crank out some Super Mario or Killer Instinct, back when games were just fun to play.

I just wanted to say, im not old at all, actually only 29, but i have an old soul lol, if that helps. Rarely have i ever said anyone sucks unless they acted like they were the hottest piece on the market and wouldnt take any constructive criticism on how they really aren't. But for the most part I love to help people learn, and my brother as well, if anyone here needs a place to go to enjoy the game no matter your play style i invite you all to join Great Architect/Messiah Complex. Now don't get me wrong I'm not here to recruit lol, but more or less im here to say there is a place for everyone and if you need it, we are here. I don't care if you or someone else thinks you suck, i dont care if you really do suck, everyone has a home with us and we spend alot of our time attempting to improve if you need the assistance. So if you have an interest and are curious what we are about there is 2 things you can do. Check out or leaders twitch stream at twitch.tv/defatank or go to greatarchitect.us (site is changing soon) there are many people that we have changed and not just in ESO. we are a multi gaming community and offer help or even just a good conversation to anyone that needs/wants it. We are doing trials without the use of any abilities that ignore mechanics and actually move with the mechanics and have plenty of spots open. So if you are interested please check us out. We don't judge and most of us are actually in our late 20's-50's and a couple of people above 50 but would love more!

But we are legion and very noisy sometimes. Never, ever, discount a babyboomer. We're retired, have time, have money, and have very little patience for the pass times of our parents. We want a little more spice in our life. Unfortunately, our brains are often far more nimble than our bodies which have a distressing tendency to betray us.

I've yet to fully experience such venomous tripe (any excuse to use that word :_) ) as the OP did but have had a few insults when people notice my sword and shield sorcerer. Eventually I found an awesome guild of like minded people, most important is to have fun. Such things as stopping at every fishing spot possible in a dungeon, Randomly having sing songs in both dungeons and town squares and even dance offs.

I think any person who will treat you in such a way simply for not being "the perfect build" or playing "to maximise DPS" is not the sort of person you want to socialise with.

Yesterday I made the person I was grouped with mad at me. He told me in no uncertain terms that I should not be allowed to play ESO and that “U suck”.

    I got the message.

Up front he/she most likely was right, at least from his/her perspective. I am most certainly not the gamer I used to be. But I hold my own, most of the time. There are moments when my fingers seem to have a mind of their own and refuse to hit the proper key. This always happens at the most inopportune times as well.

I plead guilty for being human and foible.

I am 68 years old and enjoy the game. I will make more mistakes playing it than I used too when I was playing the FPS Duke Nukem on the TEN, Total Entertainment Network, more years ago that I care to remember. Yet, somehow I managed to level my nightblade and partially figured out how to play the class effectively, at least for me.

So at the same time I plead guilty for not being the very best nightblade in the game; I ask for patience and a request to keep the game in perspective. Interpersonal relations are far more important that loot, level, or skill. At least they are in my life. If you take the time to get to know me you may find that I am not a bad sort and that am semi-worthy to play the game.

What is really bothering me about this experience is that I missed an opportunity to make a new friend, instead I made an enemy, strictly by accident. For even now I am not sure what I did or did not do to warrant such venom. I was not given a chance to redeem myself. I even followed this person and helped him/her kill a World Boss; but never got an acknowledgement.

I appreciate the medium provided here to voice this.

    Thank you

Sir, in case you are playing on EU megaserver, I would gladly join you on your adventures.

Mistakes you note are part of the gameplay and often lead to much amusement when I play with friends, rest assured tho that we only laugh at each other in friendly manner and you wouldn't be branded as "sucker" (unless you happen to enjoy milkshake with a straw, with Teamspeak microphone on, as I did once).

The toxic behaviour you describe is not something common for all gamers, just the overwhelming segment of the youngest players.

I find it a bit saddening that the good Greywolf probably hasn't seen what positive echo his post had. Well I hope he did.

And you are all amazing folks :) Keep doing the good works :)

You'd be surprised, most of us true TES fans are easily over 30. Inf act most of the TES modders for Oblivion and Skyrim are over 40. TES is a game made for adults. And although they have quite a number of younger players, the hardcore fan populace is well aged.

I suspect that this is a result of many being in the gaming prime during the Morrowind and Oblivion Days. As the Elder Scrolls series has aged so have the gamers along with it but the passion for the series has remained.

    At Greywolf46:

Couldn't really care how old you are, or how many mistakes you make as long as we are having fun doing it. If it doesn't become fun then I apologize that I have to leave and promptly do so. That goes for anyone else who is grouped with. Don't care about who you are or where your from as long as we have fun playing together.

No use paying to play a game if it ain't fun.

I want to also get behind you on this, I am mid 30's and my hands tend to twitch a lot in game and in life (takes me a bit to even type things some days), In game I have a habit of flying off a cliff or pulling a mob cause I hit the one of the movement keys twice or accidentally tap my mouse with my bow out...After a few levels of tweaking the sliders ( had to turn done the sliders most of the way down) I have made it to where I can safely sneak around most places without attracting to much attention, My guildies have made it a bit of a running joke about me getting us in to a lot of trouble cause of that.... (sorry I also tend to ramble) Back to my point, my advice.... find a guild that understands and encourages you to play the way you play no matter how that may be and hopefully if you do you will always have people that are eager to run dungeons with ya.

I also want to add I have a vet 9 NB (I have been taking my sweet ass time) that uses a bow with crazy DPS.... anyone that has seen me in game can tell you that I can handle my own in most situations against high tier monsters and Vet 12 players.

Last thing... if you are on the DC side of things hit me up @Samasulee‌

I actually think its more a wake up call for the angry kidz, this thread that no matter how they act, its their lost in the end, in this thread I see lots of great people coming together expression their opinion in a mature adult way, without any profanity, shamming or stuff like that.

they are the true cool, calm and great people.

for me its the other way around, I actually feel sad that kidz feels like they can act like this, and if the kidz Im training in taekwondo acted like this and I heard about it, they would be in for a training of their lives :)

I'm 45 and find myself dying more these days than I'm use to. I totally understand the brain finger miscommunication, also cats jumping into your lap (at the worst possible moment) and a puppy who wants to play under your chair. Gaming is suppose to be fun, a way to let go of RL for awhile. Greywolf, You have made alot of new friends here I think. Personally I'm glad to have found this thread and all these cool "older" players. :D
