People always compare this game to DAoC... I played DAoC at release it was far from ready to be played... Many zone had no mobs +in hib cursed forest had yet to be itemized so there was no armor past 40 lol...Talking about balance it was terriable at first it took them about 6 months to get to better balance. Some classes were over nerfed as a result.. DAoC became a great RVR game but it took time...

This game had and has some balance issues, but this game is sitting at a much better spot then DAoC after 4 months.. Many people started playing DAoC just a few years after release.. By that time things were 100% better... Also keep in mind the balance issues with a PVP game its always needing adjusting....... today DAoC with its tiny staff and its small die hard pop, still are making adjustments...

Some of you might wonder why PEOPLE talk about a game that is so small now..DAoC sold out to EA that was its death nail...After the sale people started to leave DAoC warhammer was the new thing..After the fall of failhammer DAoC was in way doomed....

The negative part is the response time to game breaking things such as bat swarm at release....I wish response time was better...

I still miss the days of running around griefing the Hibs with my Skald. Just after release was a great time for DAoC.

AvAvA here is pretty fun, too. The more active campaigns seem to be doing well in terms of population.

This is not Dark Age of Tamriel. If it ever becomes such yo can expect to see the ES people leave in droves.

I can't help but lol at your ignorance. You should read up on the lead director of ESO a bit.

DAoC was a great game! It depended on having friends to run with...It was not for everyone.. However a very successful game that started with a small staff with advertising mostly from word of mouth... I do think this game is more catered to the masses.. but i have enjoyed the rvr it needs improvement yes but it always will...This is the first game that i have had interest in since 2009 the last year i played DAoC.

This game isn't the same as DAOC's RVR though in my opinion.

DAOC had a realm rank system that truly made you feel like realm points were crack, and you couldn't get enough. Hopefully they implement that in this game.

But more importantly, DAOC had a class ability system that emphasized class synergy. In general, the group combat was much more complex and strategic since there was much more crowd control that you had to stand still to cast and would get interupted if hit. This game seems more like an insta spam fest...and seems a bit mindless at times, which I guess some people like. But it's not my cup of tea, and it doesn't make this game stand out in a way like daoc RVR did.

What I wanted to point out from my sidelines view (ill get into pvp when im done playing elder scrolls aka once im done with the story)

Complaints about balance lead me to believe the classes are pretty much balanced for the most part...aside from a few...skills and...things... the stealthy assasins whine about aoe mages and tanks...because they do best picking off people rather than brawling in the zerg (unless you know...stealth sniping or picking off people running) Sure some balance is always needed but not nearly as bad as some doom and gloomers make out.

You get a feel for certain irrational complaints vs people making well thought out arguments for/against something.

I have yet seen people funneling out of one faction and into the popular one. They usually make one faction totally badass and evil and another lame and then wonder why one faction has all the players and it makes pvp suck... They did a great job diving up the races. Not only that I have never once heard people complaining that one faction is dominant. Not sure if its the three factions I think it has more to do with how they distributed the races.

Even the people who trash the game said pvp was pretty good...

Also you cant recreate a first generation mmorpg that created unique content and match how it played out exactly...that's what made DAOC a classic...it created something unique in such a manner that every other game after it had what they did in some iteration. I can think of maybe three mmorpgs that created the game systems and mechanics found in every single mmorpg out (excluding sandboxes) and that's Anarchy Online for "dynamic events" and instancing, Everquest for quest hub spamming and raiding, and DOAC for pvp.

I love PvP in this game, it just needs bugs & performance to be addresed and give better rewards to be superfun.

At first it did not have the RA system ... Yes it was class specific game certian classes were needed to run a good group 8 man group :) I would not say that this game is a insta spam fest...DAoC had its spam fest also especially back in 2001 lol

Exactly it will never be a copy of DAoC .. OMG and DAoC was horriable PVP at the start of the game :) Most people remember the game from 2003 to 2008... But they fixed it over the course of the first 2 years ... People do not understand that PVP game take much more time to fix then PVE... Humans will find combination that are OP that developers did not see... So PVP is always balancing ......

Many people think that DAoC's RvRvR model is the best one going. I happen to agree, although I really enjoyed Age of Conan's pvp as well. I have no problem with ESO following in DAoC's footsteps, but maybe with an added Arena component.
