New public guild store shops one of the best new features.

IMHO, the implementation of this much wanted feature was really well done by ZOS.

Granted I don't know a lot of the details yet like how much current bids are up to and how long they last, but I have been calling for something like this ever since the veteran re-balancing. I hope they continue to add more cool locations for these, like in small little trade post cities along with the big ones.

For an example just visit Mournhold (or any major city). There is a new wayshrine right inside the trade plaza. There you will see all the new public guild stalls, which bear the name of the guild currently leasing them.

I was already able to find many items (like blue veteran 5 jewelry for my NB) where my current guilds didn't have any.

It also adds to the atmosphere, unlike other games where there are just walls of ugly player vendors, as the ZOS designers have maintained their high standards of artistry and attention to detail.

I actually prefer this to a global auction house, for these and many other reasons.

Well done I say!

EDIT:

If they allowed anyone to SELL on these public guild kiosks, even if it was only a limited number of items (say up to 10 sales on each), it would essentially solve the AH problems.

They could even add a "favor" system where making a small donation to the guild hosting the store would allow you to sell more items.

Oh yeah, i just love that.
But as always, there are some trolls and griefers who ruin everything.

For example. Right now on EU server, Aldmeri faction side in the Devon's Watch city merchant was claimed by Ebonpact players thru abusing of Multifaction guild (it is then you have players from different factions in the same guild).

This merchant now stay there and sell nothing.

I feel a little ashamed to admit this but after all the arguments I had in favor of this system I hate it. So to anyone who was opposed to me on this ... I concede ... you were right ..... this guild auction house thing sucks. In theory I liked it .... then I went to the auction house to look for something ... you know a 10 min trip to the auction house. I spent over 2 damn hours looking for 1 item in so many stores .. it was insane and a waste of my time. I will never use them again and I pray to all the video game gods that they take this travesty out of the game and put a real AH.

edit: I tend to be grouchy in the morning .. I mean no disrespect to those who like it .. I just do not.

I deplore it. I can't even find 2 of my guild's stores. Furthermore, I refuse to spend more time managing my sales/inventory/bank then I already do... which is 3/4 of my game time. Who the hell wants to port from zone to zone checking out the various guild trading stores? Ultimately, the entire banking/bag/trading system will drive me to quit an otherwise completely enjoyable game. It's totally frustrating.

Why the hell can't we have a damm auction house please? A real auction house? instead of the current Walmart Neighborhood centers we are forced to use?

The issue with the new system however is, that non guild members cant contribute to the economy.

If you want to sell you still need to use the chat or join a guild :(

What we need are player shops or the ability to sell at guild stores for a fee.

Now that would be cool. Like a 10% listing fee and a 10% cut of the sale. All going to the guild bank of the guild that owns it. It would actually make the traders more like auction houses and guilds might actually fight of traders in well traveled areas if the money was good.

They would be Ok if we could get a central system to search all of them, even if we had to go visit them to pick up the item. SWG was a completely player based economy driven by thousands of individual vendors and nothing over a small amount of credits could be purchased by the AH. You could still use it to search all the individual vendors that registered and quite often people bought something else when they were there. Right now they are just so spread out and vary so much on what they offer and how absurd or reasonable the pricing might be on them.

I'd rather have an auction house, but the problem that you had really isn't an issue with the kiosks or the new guild stores.

The root cause of many of these issues is the complete lack of a functional interface for the stores. As you said, it takes entirely too long to find a single item and there are no shortcuts other than a few addons, which still take quite a long time to use.

A simple search function would go a long way to making these stores more usable.

I oppose global auction houses, which aren't really even auction houses anymore.

I also oppose global player mail systems, but that is just a diversion.

One of the things I hate about the global stores, and why I have largely stopped using them, is that to some people it is the game. That is the reason they play the game and all they really want is to be the highest "level" auctioneer on the server. Most of the time when I want something from the global store I end up having to pay whatever prices these people have set. When I do sell stuff to pick up some money, I am not selling to the people who need it. More often than not I find it easier to price it so that the professional auction house people will buy it.

In ESO, a global store makes even less sense given the current war. Guilds can have members of any alliance, and players can be in all alliances, so it really makes no logical sense to have three global stores, one for each alliance. Yet, having a single global store open to all alliances makes no more sense, other than as a pure player artifact designed to be the game for the players I mentioned above.

(Don't get me started on the whole concept of Alliance affiliated guilds with enemy characters active in them. It is something I had hoped they would address in update 3, but I guess they don't see that as a conflict of interest at the world level.)

The last reason that am opposed to a global store in ESO is that I simply do not trust the developers. They have a mixed concept of game vs meta-game in ESO. Meta-game things are artifacts that the game implements that are not part of the game world, like the mail system, chat system, and friends system. The current guild system is part of the meta-game since it is mostly rooted in the "G" key. The guild store is a meta-game artifact implemented through the nearest banker, or the kiosk if your guild has one. They would make the global store linked to the banker because it would drive people nuts to have to walk between the bank person and the global store person. There are already too many people standing around the banker doing inventory management. A global store would really overload the banks. The only way to save the banks and implement a global store would be to make it a key you can press from anywhere.

The guild kiosks do a couple things right.

    1) They get people out of the bank. You can put stuff into the store from the bank, but to use the guild store as a non-guild consumer, it is necessary to go to one.

    2) They provide another reason for guilds and something for them to do. It is now possible in ESO to create a real trading guild that can accomplish something and establish a brand name.

    3) It is impossible, or at least a serious challenge, to play the Elder Store Online game with the intent of making it rich by controlling the prices. There are too many outlets and too many inventories to control. There will never be an Undermine Journal for ESO.

    4) It is now possible to have an economy that exists on more than paper. Daggerfall can have a separate economy from Wayrest, with different prices and inventory. Guilds, and sellers, now have an added dimension that does not exist in the global store, the local economy.

I seriously believe that what ESO has done is the next step in the evolution of the "Global Auction House".

So, I have to be a member of a Trading Guild in order for me to be able to sell something in the Kiosks?

I am already a member of 4 guilds, how do I pick the one trading guild that is worth while to join? Or that has room for new members?

Hmm.....i'm thinking the system is flawed. Ran thru loads of vendors today, most were empty and the ones that had items....well lol. Just over priced junk.
Seriously I don't want to buy normal Crafting style stones....If I ever needed them I would just get them from the npc's in every town.

Where are the purple armours? the special foods? the raw materials?
Just lists of 1 item of junk after another being sold by guilds.

I now feel persecuted because i'm not in a guild and sell my stuff 1 to 1 via chat.
Where is my stall??? I could fill it with worthwhile stuff that players actually need while hunting not this junk.....there's enough of that in the containers they are getting it from...

If I come across one of these kiosks I'll have a look at it, but I can't use them to sell as I have no interest in joining guilds, even less than before now that I have no means of knowing which guilds will actually be able to market their wares properly from one week to the next. I'll continue to sell the stuff I don't need to NPC merchants and rely on my crafting skills to get the stuff I do need.

The game will end up with some form of auction house I'm sure, and these kiosks bring that day nearer, they're just another symptom of a broken trading system and, it would appear, one that is already open to abuse.

I can't believe that having to look through page after page, hoping you don't get kicked for spamming by hitting the next page button too fast, quitting out, going to the next guild (x5), looking for the same item again, remembering which store had the best price, going back to that store and going through page after page again was purposely designed as a time sink.

This would be a worse time sink than having to camp for a week in EQ2, doing nothing but staring at the same location while waiting on a rock to spawn to start a heritage quest.
